instruction in fundamental reading skills necessary for success in college and in life. The program includes a range of developmental classes and independent labs designed to improve vocabulary, reading comprehension, and critical thinking.
Distinctive Features Acquiring competence in reading often spells the difference between success and failure in college. The diagnostic and prescriptive approach to developing these essential reading skills maximizes student learning and prepares students for the demands of college-level textbooks. The combination of classroom instruction and practicum lab work allows for the individualization of instruction.
Transfer Preparation MSJC offers a range of course work to prepare students to transfer to four-year colleges and universities. All four– year institutions prescribe their own standards for course evaluation and admissions. Prospective transfer students are advised to review the MSJC catalog with a counselor to determine which MSJC courses are transferable.
