Charles Laib Bitton ARTIST STATEMENT At the core of these works is the research of purity and the celebration of the image as the sole vehicle of its existence. These works resist the bonds of representational word-associations and are not tied down to any one specific understanding. They are what they are, no more and no less, existing purely in the experiential relationship between viewer and composition. Therefore, I would like to refrain from using words in the context of the images because words carry baggage of personal connotation and denotation thereby tainting the piece’s freedom by defining it in relation to the outside world. Instead these images are only meant to exist by themselves without statements other than a reference title and occasional humor.

Josh Reames ABOUT ME I live in Chicago and make a lot of paintings in a basement-level studio. Lately I’ve been riffing on corny vacation images, sunsets, palm trees, and whatever relatively dumb neon-moon types of imagery I can find– filtered through some trompe l’oeil painting tricks.

WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS Walk the dog, jam with my band “Fish,” watch cop shows, get boozy.

If you could magically teleport to anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why? The Socotra Islands, because the place looks amaaaaazing; and considering it is nestled right between Yemen and Somalia –teleportation is the only way I’ll ever get there without being hijacked by pirates.

T imothee Colmant ABOUT Hello I’m Tim Colmant, I come from Belgium & I’m a graphic designer. I make illustration/art. Mostly shapes, colors or details of my day. In a Childish & 90’s style I will say. But it’s pretty hard to talk about ones self so check my stuff and tell me what you think of it!

WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS Internet procrastination takes up way too much of my time...but I like to cook, read, listen to music, party, normal stuff.

If you could magically teleport to anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?

+ 16

I hate when people show up to a party and want to choose the music the whole time. Thank you based god.

I know that you may have read this information on the Internet but to be clear, I’m not using MS paint.

Brian Hubble

ARTIST STATEMENT Brian Hubble (b. 1978 Newport News, Virginia) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His works have been exhibited widely including exhibitions at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, IL, and MoMA PS1 in New York, NY. Hubble completed his MFA at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011 where he was the recipient of the William Merchant R. French Fellowship. WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS Right now I’m re-watching all of Twin Peaks (for the third time). If you could magically teleport to anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why? I’d go to Virginia to visit my family.

Cecilia Salama ABOUT I was born in London. I graduated from Brown University in 2012 with a BA in Visual Arts. I recently had my first solo show in New York at So What Space, in Sunset Park. I now live and work in New York. ARTIST STATEMENT I explore the value of three-dimensionality in an increasingly virtual world. I work to untether the bind between eye and screen while posing certain classical issues of painting into question. By combining oil paints and more traditional gestures of abstract expressionism with internet-friendly materials such as plastics, vinyls, and iridescent films that reflect the aesthetics of “futuristic” 2k13 design trends, I explore the implications of materiality in relation to painting’s confrontation with virtuality. WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS

+

Nail painting. Redoing my website. Being sassy.

38

The only way to free the online user is to create objects that need to be experienced texturally. I investigate the potential of a material, in all its pre-virtual tactile glory, portrayed through a marriage of painting, sculpture and video. I reflect on the activation of the painting as an object and the vacillating hierarchy of the painting’s surface versus its supporting structure, and expose viewers to a spectrum of sheen, aiming to navigate the Internet user through a space not mediated by screens. IF YOU COULD MAGICALLY TELEPORT TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHY? The Boiler Room in London.

I’m on a quest. For my next slurpee.

D av i d F u l l a r t o n ABOUT Mr Fullarton is a Scottish born, San Francisco based visual artist and a man with very low expectations. He is therefore seldom disappointed and lives a life filled with boundless joy. He has spent most of his somewhat checkered artistic career attempting to create a piece of artwork that doesn’t have words written on it. So far he has failed dismally. In his leisure time he enjoys a variety of smoked cheeses, despite lingering doubts about their textures. Perhaps his most prized talent is his uncanny ability to stay out of the way. Like many other people he maintains a website who’s address is his name with .com at the end. WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS Like many people who make things, I wish I was making things when I’m not making things. But unfortunately I have yet to work out how to make money out of making the things I make, so I have to spend most of my time doing that. And there’s always some kind of mess to clean up or hardship to overcome. It’s can be a struggle, to be sure. If you could magically teleport to anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why? The Beer Garden of the Corrie Hotel, in the village of Corrie on the Isle of Arran off the west coast of Scotland. The sun would be shining and I’d have a pint of Guinness and a packet of salt & vinegar crisps on the picnic table in front of me. That would be as close to perfection as it’s possible to get.

46

Beneath my droll exterior and witty repartee lies a melancholy man who doesn’t really like people knowing very much about him. I think I’ve said enough.

Y u va l C o h e n G o l a n ABOUT ME My name is Yuval Cohen Golan, I grew up in Israel and moved to NY 4 years ago. I currently study Graphic Design at SVA. I create my collages from photos that I took with a disposable camera. When the photos are developed, new unexpected colors and shapes appear and they inspire me to create new images with them.

WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS I usually take my dog for a long walk in order to clear my mind. And sometimes I sleep. If you could magically teleport to anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why? I would probably teleport to the moon. I really want to see how Earth looks like from space and be in a different kind of gravity.
