The New Art Gallery Walsall
Great for all the family
Pop in to the gallery any time, we are open 7 days a week. Come to one of our family workshops that are drop-in, you can turn up any time between the start and end times, and everyone of any age can join in. Stay as long as you like! Whilst you’re here visit the interactive gallery, DiSCO, that’s always open; explore the interactives around the gallery; use the Art Cart that’s full of making materials out every weekend; and gallery assistants who are here to help everyone any time.

July Giants in the Gallery Sunday 5 July, 1pm - 3pm
Drop in to work with Walsall College students to make a giant out of a whole mountain of materials.
August All activities 1pm-4pm each day
Cast a Glove
Weds 5 and Thurs 6 August,
Make a plaster cast glove to trick everyone to think you’ve made a real glove.
Magic Photos
Weds 12 and Thurs 13 August
Create a silhouette in a photographic way. Back by popular demand.
Colour Pattern Experiments
Weds 19 and Thurs 20 August
Experiment with new patterns using colour mixing with paints, inks, pastels, felt tips and everything else on offer.
Make a Boat
Weds 26 and Thurs 27 August
Fold your own boat to decorate and sail.
Flower Fridays
Every Friday in August, 1pm-4pm Make a fabulous bloom in tissue paper and a bug badge to match.

Diwali Celebrations
Sat and Sun 12 and 13 September Come and see us at Artsfest in Birmingham town centre, we’re part of the celebrations all weekend.
October Paint the Town
Monday 26 October, 1pm-4pm
Make your mark with a painted invented landscape inspired by the exhibition.
Haunted Houses
Tuesday 27 October, 1pm-4pm
Make a red haunted house to scare all your neighbours. We’ll photograph them all.
Join in the huge cultural event with something for everyone. See the website for more details.
Islamic Arts Festival
There’s music and dance throughout the gallery, come along and join in. See the website for more details.

Sunday 6 December, 12pm-3pm Create patterned cards and decorations for the festive season
Monstrous Sculptures Wednesday 28 October, 1pm-4pm
Create a weird and wonderful sculpture.
Horror Badges
Thursday 29 October, 1pm-4pm Create some evil artwork to wear pinned to your top.
Mould a Monster
Friday 30 October, 1pm-4pm
Make your own monster and leave it at the gallery for display.
Special Effects
Friday 30 October, 10am-4pm
Drop-in and transform your hands with a ghoulish growth with our theatre expert. Subject to space.
The gallery has lift access to all floors and is buggy friendly, we are a breastfeeding friendly venue and have baby change facilities on the ground floor.
Regulars Baby Palace
Fridays: 17 July, 25 September, 23 October, 27 November, 18 December. Three sessions each day: 10.30am - 11.30am 12pm - 1pm 2pm - 3pm Discover what all the mums and dads are talking about! Spend some relaxed time with your baby in a multi sensory session for under 2’s and their carers. With a different magical theme each session there is lots to explore, touch, smell, hear and see in a calm and soothing environment.
Art Cart
Every weekend, bank holidays and all school holidays All day
The Art Cart comes out each weekend to help you to explore our art collections. It has different activities and moves somewhere new in the gallery every month.
Frisky Bags
These are rucksacks stuffed full of activities to help you discover the gallery and its art collections. Ask to borrow one from the reception desk and explore together as a family team. Great for family groups with 6-12 year olds.

While you are here browse our shop. We have art books, postcards, jewellery, craft kits, children’s books and much more.
Costa
Drop in to our family friendly cafe, Costa. Open 8.30am-5.30pm Monday – Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sundays.
