EXHIBITING SPACE FOR YOUR ARTWORK
ACQUIRING YOUR OWN SPACE
You’ve just completed a theme of an inspirational subject that captured your concentration to finish ten paintings, (photographs, sculptures, or other medium) and that mentor has approved the artwork. Renting your own exhibit space is the ultimate gratification, as well as, total profit. It may be easier at some areas, but there are many options depending on the funds and the length of the exhibit. •

First a convenient and centered area where buyers can attend and view such as downtown, with sizable walls to show off the artwork. Look for lighting effects for during the day and after dark that would complement the artwork. Facilitate the premises with a small sitting area of rest with complimentary cards and brochures of the exhibit to remember. Have a private opening night by invitation and serve cocktails and hor dourves, and perhaps pastries. Market and advertise in various ways. There’s the local and main newspaper, a magazine, radio, or television, mailings, and of course the internet.
Solo exhibitors convey a prestigious independence that can characteristically impress and leave a lasting memory of your artwork, talent, and profile. PARTICIPATING IN AN EXHIBIT
This is generally a sponsored event that has a fairly large exhibit area for many artists to show their work. Since an acceptance is required a meeting with the curator is important to introduce your best presentation within the requirements. Make sure you know the guidelines and be at your best professional behavior. Present five pieces of your most prominent artwork and make sure you accept their professional opinion regardless of what their positions is. A PROMOTIONAL CORPORATE APPEAL
Here your space is limited to a cubical and a partition of which you can hang some artwork, but with a table of promotional

materials such as your card, brochure, and sales items of specially packaged reproductions of your best artwork. This is the convention, the trade show, the church sales functions or bizarre/bazaar, and the community or village outing where as a vendor you can participate. Your expensive artwork of two to three original paintings hanging behind the table can gather crowds, but your reproductions sales will bring in immediate profit and the best presentation to not only purchasers, but prospective business partners for an appeal in a wider spectrum. GALLERIES - MUSEUMS
Research and choose first the gallery you might prefer to exhibit. Notice the type of art the gallery exhibits for sale and make sure your artwork fits in to make a better decision. Call and make an appointment to present your work in the manner that is acceptable. Perhaps, it’s just a CD or an art portfolio case. Again, regardless of the requirements for presenting your artwork it is of the outmost importance in leaving a good first impression and should be packaged in a professional manner. Make sure you are there on time and at your best with the most appealing artwork of no more, and no less than five pieces. You are meeting with an expert that can guide you to success and advise you if your artwork is compatible to the art that they are selling. Regardless of whom you are talking to respect their consultation and opinion. This is a prospective business partner that will require mutual agreements. A significant amount of time and patience is essential with a lot of research. This can include the internet, library, art consultants, and any friends, associates, and knowledgeable individuals in finding exhibit space, especially if you are new in the area. Learn all you can about the art business. Most of all your presentation and first impression should be perfected. It’s not only your fundamental art technique and talent that is to be introduced. Your character and personality is an intrinsic value of your artwork.

Jason Fairchild By Robert Kameczura Based in Chicago,USA, Jason Fairchild is a modern artist that currently uses painting as the fastest and best way to get his message out there. Women are the center of the art of Jason Fairchild: or to be more accurate women and the unique forms of space that surround them. (Untitled) The women he portrays are not the everyday women we see on the street waiting for buses or shopping in the neighborhood supermarket, they are sexually charged nude or semi-nude figures that seem part lover, part mother, part dream girlfriend, part wife, part earth goddess. They are figures of beauty, pleasure, pain, mysticism and fantasy. (Angel of Destruction) His figures are also involved in differing ways with processes of metamorphosis and transformation. They are attempts to portray the journey’s of the soul through various stages and roles in life but in a way which emphasizes the ambiguity of humanity floating through time and space. His figures seem in the midst of travel in journeys that are infinite; his images frozen moments in endless voyages where the model poses for a second in a fantastic landscape, let’s the artist capture her image, but will soon move on to travel onward to another place and another time and another role in her existence. (Shore’s Left Behind) As such his woman have a slightly ambiguous dream like quality that hints at, but never overtly states, elements of the human condition. In his art Eros meets encounters the mysteries of nature; swirling seas and skies, as well as vast, usually barren, landscapes are a common motif. It is a symbol of our origins and birth. The Earth is where we may return. Elinore Bucholt The restless energy that imbues many of Elinore Bucholtz' paintings surely comes from a peripatetic childhood and early adulthood. She was born in Tel-Aviv, Israel, came to New York as a baby, eventually moved to Arizona and then to California where she finished her schooling before moving back to New York. Her art development, however, started after she finished her work as a NYC junior high school teacher. "I never dreamed of doing art before then." If any other quality was there at an early age, it was a love of color, the second very strong characteristic of her work. Now that she has become an artist, there has been no stopping her. She credits her swift development in painting , especially in the abstract style of painting she has excelled in, to her training at the Art Students League particularly with Frank O'Cain. Also, she has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows, has had work accepted into the permanent collections of three museums, and was seen this summer and fall in a gallery in southern California. Her work has also

been this fall in two galleries in Italy, another in Bulgaria, and at Andrews, N.C. in their fine arts museum. Comments from reviews of her work include the following: “The answer must be in the artist’s attention to creating a lovely balance between shape, color, and movement.” “... The movement is palpable, bringing another aspect of enjoyment to the viewer.” Her art “" exemplifies the dynamism of ‘action painting in her muscularly configured compositions. For her vigorous strokes.....appear to have been wrested from within the canvas, rather than merely applied to it, demonstrating... that “push and pull’ can still exert a powerful spell.” Bucholtz has used all drawing and painting media excelling in acrylics and watercolor.

Rick J. Delanty Rick J. Delanty is a plein air and studio painter, with nationallyrecognized awards—among them the 2011 Stephenson Award at New York’s National Society of Painters in Casein and Acrylic, Borrego Springs Plein Air Best of Show, Collectors’ Choice and Presenting Sponsor’s Award at Sedona Plein Air Invitational, and two Best of Shows at the “Paint San Clemente” plein air competition. At the 2011 Laguna Invitational, with painters selected from all over the U.S. by the Laguna Art Museum, Rick was presented the Boseker award for painting excellence. He was also honored with the first place award in the 2012 Richeson 75 Small Works Competition. He has been invited to participate four times in the Laguna Beach Invitational, and is an exhibitor at the renown “Festival of the Arts” in Laguna Beach. This year his work was selected by the Pasadena Museum of History for the exhibition, “Contemporary Masters, Artistic Eden III.
As a thirty-two year former educator in the arts, Rick appreciates the quality of sharing knowledge with emerging and student artists. He is currently the Scholarship Chairman for the San Clemente Art Association. Rick’s professional organizations include Laguna Plein Air Painters, California Art Club, and Christians in the Visual Arts. Rick is represented at the Hotel Laguna, Westervelt’s Gallery, and Crystal Cove. The artist’s inspiration is God’s Creation, which he paints to share with the viewer’s own experiences with nature. Gabriel Gross By Marco Antonio Rodríguez Gabriel Gross (from Quito, Ecuador - 1952) is an extremely perceptive and sensitive man, whose art is the vital epicenter of his life. It is away from art that he withdraws and to which he always returns without delay. Art has been the core of his existential being. As a child, Gabriel, drew in secret (from whom was he hiding? himself? who knows?). His rich and varied intellect is due to his tireless longing for integral training and knowledge, always in the field of the visual arts. His experience as a producer, director, light and sound designer for multiple theatre productions, along with his dynamic personality, has led him to act in short films. Lightness and levity are the signs of Gross’s art. His visuals do not provoke, rather they ease. They do not invoke anxiety, rather they strengthen. They do not distract, rather they seduce. It doesn’t matter if his visuals penetrate one’s inner perplexities or confront themes of the environment. The artist, unperturbed, gives us a sunny and joyful world impregnated with tenderness. The dreams of his childhood and adolescence are a constant theme in his work. It is in this space that Gross houses his characters. “I dream with an art of equality and serenity, dispose of themes of disquiet or deprivation,” - said Matisse. Gross reaches these high spheres, undoubtedly provided by his intense spirituality. He is a man searching for the essence of life, the meaning of his existence, its inescapable dialect of joy and sadness, drive and hesitation, isolation and hope. Vocation and creation lived to the fullest with a big heart, the heartbeat of a poet, and the steps of man.

Semproniu Iclozan is an intentionally known American artist, born in Transilvania, Romania. He received his MFA from Nicolaie Grigorescu Art Academy, Bucharest, Romania. His work has been shown at more than 51 exhibitions in Europe and United States.

Marina Izrailevich The roots of my life and work are steeped in Russian art and culture. My earlier works had a whiff of Russian Constructivism (purely unconsciously; I was thrilled when it was pointed out to me). I am still searching for a way to express the breadth of feelings and emotions and the struggle for meaning and life’s anchor. My major influences are Mark Rothko, Wassily Kandinsky and Marc Chagall. My heart leaps when I see their work and I think ‘how do I do THAT’. My work is color, texture, and flow. Movement of pencil on paper, brush on canvas, and lines and shapes on a surface, any surface. The excitement of watching hot metal bending under acetylene torch and the flow of melting metal as two pieces are joined together and a sculpture emerges. It's about the impossible, the discovery of a potential, and the excitement of seeing a completed work. And I continue the search.

I like to work with almost all media: oil on canvas; watercolor, chalk, charcoal, and pastel on paper; occasional painting or drawing in acrylic; welded steel sculpture. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts at LIU in New York. I have had several shows in galleries in Manhattan and Long Island, and one of my shows was featured in the New York Times. I currently live and work in Santa Cruz, California.

The Sweeper is painted from my own photography. The man's shadow took my breath away, but more importantly, his steady, sure sweeping rythmn inspired me to try to capture his dignity in performing simple work.
Patton Hunter Painting is my first language. Using bold, expressionistic images, I draw from my life and interpret experiences, good and bad, to connect with viewers’ own personal memories. Patton Hunter lives and works in her loft studio/gallery in downtown St. Petersburg, FL, named two years running as best mid-sized city for the cultural arts in the United States. From more than 3,300 competitors, she was voted one of the “Top Ten Artists Over 60” in The Artist’s Magazine national competition in the March 2011 issue and was noted among
“Ones to Watch” by Watercolor Magazine in their December 2011 issue. Patton served on the search committees of the Pinellas County Arts Council in commissioning the work of Christopher Still for the Pinellas County courthouse murals and served as juror for the Pinellas County School system’s annual art exhibit for students, Sarasota Arts Center members competition as well as exhibits at Beach Art Center in Indian Rocks Beach and Suntan Arts Center on St. Pete Beach.

Paul Scott Malone is an abstract oil painter and literary writer of poetry and has published three books of fiction. From 1972 to 1974 Malone served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, since then he has worked as a newspaper journalist, literary critic and university professor of contemporary literature and writing at several schools. Paul Scott Malones’ education includes an MFA in creative writing and contemporary literature from The University of Arizona in 1986, and a BA from the University of Houston in journalism and literature in 1978. In 1990 Paul Scott was awarded a Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts (U.S.) and has received many other prizes and awards as well. In visual art, except for a few drawing courses and some tutoring by two wonderful teachers, Paul Scott has been quoted as saying that he is a self-taught artist. In 2005, shortly after Malone discovered his current painting technique, which is now known as Atmospheric Expressionism. Paul Scott purchased an old house in a small desert town outside Tucson, AZ, near the border of Mexico and transformed the house and its garage into an excellent studio. For almost five years he lived there with his two dogs as steady companions, and,

painting and drawing almost constantly, he created most of his body of work - hundreds of paintings, drawing, pastels, watercolors and acrylics - that he is now offering to the world. His hometown is Houston, Texas, but then Paul Scott has moved thirty-six times in his life and has lived in numerous parts of the country. His home is now in Glen Rose, TX. In addition to his painting and writing, he serves as an Adjunct Professor of Contemporary Literature and Writing at nearby Tarleton State University.

Jacqui Morgan When Jacqui Morgan received her BFA from Pratt, she entered a world without any female illustrators. She with BarbaraNessim and Lorraine Fox who passed away very young, were the first and only working female illustrators. During the heyday of the psychedelic, she designed and illustrated the iconic Electric Circus Poster and went on to create more iconic images for the American Optometric Association, Sansui, Scott Printing, Celanese, Exxon, and 7 UP Billboards. Unique covers for American Artist Magazine, Mac Millan Books, Print Magazine and Cosmopolitan along with album covers for RCA, ads for DeBeers diamonds and animated commercials for Burlington Mills and General Mills were among her achievements. She always loved science fiction and illustrated a few anthologies for young readers. Seeking excitement and change, Morgan began to experiment with painting on found objects such as chairs, sofas, shovels and drawers. At one point her living room looked filled to capacity with beautiful amazons seated and reclining when the room was empty. This idea caught the fancy of Playboy Germany to commission a series of illustrations of sofas with celebrities’ seated in conversation such as one with Truman Capote, Jackie Kennedy Onassis and the Duchess of Windsor. Almost simultaneously, unable to wear high heels any longer, but in love with the sculpture of shoes, she moved to include those otherwise useless shoes. Initially she painted the probable wearer on the innersoles and later added nails and other discomforts to the entire shoe. Ah! what women will go through for beauty. These became part of a travelling exhibition Die Verlassesen Schuhe in Germany and Austria as well as illustrations for album covers and magazines. These were recently seen at Gallery 13’s Beauty School Drop-outs exhibition in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After Morgan received her MA from Hunter College, CUNY, she studied realistic oil painting with Sharon Sprung, a student of Harvey Dinnerstein and then applied these findings to watercolor. In 1991 she travelled to Japan and Thailand to do a billboard campaign for Dentsu Tokyo on Thai Airlines and Thailand as an ideal vacation destination for the Japanese. This kind of commission is currently rare indeed. When Jacqui Morgan began to teach at the Fashion Institute of Technology she again felt her excitement over making art was on

the wane. So she began to simplify her painting process and make it more exciting by painting the figure from life within a maximum twenty to twenty-five minutes. Her product began to be less real and more exaggerated. More juicy and less rendered. The blurr of motion became as important as the third dimension, the drawing quality, and the exchange of negative and positive space. After 2005 she produced three books: Jacqui Morgan’s Journey, a retrospective survey of her work also shown at the Society of Illustrators. In 2010 she produced MOSTLY NUDE, Watercolors from Life, and in 2011 Almost Nude, is also is being sold at the Society of Illustrators.

Elle Nicolaï is an Artist of the Spirit who creates Visionary Art through Dreams and Meditation. Born in France, she displayed a keen attraction to indigenous, tribal, shamanic cultures, and energy healing from an early age. She lives in California and Central America, where she continues to pursue her interest in Native Indian, Aboriginal, Tibetan, Hindu, and other Asian “ancient” teachings. She studied natural health & nutrition with Sel Ripert, learned Reiki in the Usui Lineage with Joyce Morris, and practices Chi-Kung, applying techniques taught by Master Wang. Elle Nicolaï’s Transcendental Art encompasses paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, and 3D object designs. Mina Novian Mina was born in Tehran, Iran, and raised in a small town in New Jersey called Dumont. Not being fluent in English as a child, she found herself communicating through the world of drawing and colors, mesmerizing fellow kindergarteners with her budding artistry. In her adolescent years, she realized her talent and upon seeing her watercolor painting in a showcase, her passion was ignited. While attending high school, she fell in love with different forms of art and would use them throughout her academics. She traveled extensively before continuing her education at UCLA, where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Design.
Though she found those days extremely challenging, she considers them the best in her experience. After a long search for the purpose of her life, she found answers in Kabbalah. It was through these teachings that she discovered joy in her love and passion for oil painting. The creative fulfillment from painting gives her a feeling of oneness with the universe. She believes that through her art, she brings out the unlimited power of potential we all share. She truly wishes that her images are able to awaken the spark of Light we all possess. She currently lives in Los Angeles.

Elly Potamianos Noticed in art at a young age after starting school by teachers and principals, although, there was an attached appreciation in mostly Classical Art, the most prominent interest in the modern realm became Surrealism. Intrigued and fascinated by the mystic of such in depth analysis that delved into the subconscious became a primary concentration. Meeting some master artists at this time was a most exciting treat with an intellectual reciprocation upon interacting that contributed in confidence, creativity, and stretching the imagination beyond. The interest continued with many imaginative and exciting art projects from some very good teachers using a wide array of mediums. After graduating high school there was an opportunity to visit Greece, again for a short vacation, which turned out to be an advantageous and educational art experience. competition to attend the Anotati Scholin Kalon Technon, Institute of Art in Athens, Greece, contributed in not only to further cultivate a precise technique, but to appreciate the symmetry of the most outstanding ancient civilizations through their remaining artifacts. Although, creativity and art became a small addition to office work latter, a boardroom level of presentations in a more commercial venue returning to the arts is especially gratifying. Just from scratch or executing the many compositions created in mind, both past and present will dominate new accomplishments. Mila Ryk is a 3rd generation artist born in the Ukraine, she immigrated to United States in 1991. Shortly after moving to Chicago, she was introduced to Leon Oks, an artist whose work has inspired her greatly. She has been taking art lessons in his studio for several years. “Leon has helped me free my mind and express myself in ways I never thought possible” she said.
Inspired by Art Nouveau and amazed by the endless beauty of Orchids, she developed her unique style and technique, which gave her the ability to share her vision and feelings with a viewers. Mila Ryk unites line work of figures, brushstrokes, colors and nature in one single form of harmony and beauty. In 2009 Mila’s artwork has been published in the Best of America Oil Artists, Volume II book. Her art was listed in the International Dictionary of Artists 2011.

Paula Smiles Interest in drawing started at a very young age for Paula who then attended the Junior School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Under the guidance of Emanuel Jacobson she focused on life drawings. Most recently she has been doing a series of “PinHead People.” The heads are “pin-head” in size and the body is stretched out as the form moves to the hands and feet.
Paula holds a B.S. degree from Northwestern University and a MSW from University of Illinois. She resides in Skokie, Illinois where she works as a hospice social worker and continues to draw. She has participated in art shows and exhibited her work in the Chicago area including at The Figurative Art League of Evanston, Art and Beyond, She Art, and The Skokie Art Guild.

Sara Swan My current work is an examination and celebration of the human figure, body language, fashion and costume. I base much of my art on simple figure drawings from a weekly class. I have worked as large as life-size and as small as a ten inch square canvas. I draw both men and women, but my art tends to be female-centric. Though I use people as my subjects, I'm not a portrait artist, and in general I am not representing any specific person in my art. I use a variety of mediums, including alkyd oil colors, chalk pastel, graphite and charcoal. I work on many surfaces including canvas, wood panel, and a broad range of papers.
Intense color, particularly orange and red, is one of my passions. I often incorporate these and other colors into my work. I sometimes include subtle humor or irony in my work, something I hope will evolve further. I attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and was originally trained as an illustrator. My work at that time was very different from what I do now, but my interest in using people as subject matter and my love of color both began during that career.

Alicia H. Torres Alicia H. Torres was born in Columbia. Studied in Barranquilla at Marymount School. Spent four years in Switzerland where she studied Art History at the Institutes La Pelouse in Bex and Montcalme in Lausanne. Alicia had the chance to visit European museums and enjoy and admire what she loves most –art and all of its expressions. Alicia graduated in psycho-pedagogy at the Corporation Universitaria de la Costa. Presently, Alicia reside in
Miami, Florida, where she took Ikebana classes at Fairchild Tropical Gardens with the Japanese teacher Mieko Kubota and ceramic classes with the Master Rafael Consuegra where she had her first exhibition. Akicia also took portrait classes with Yovani Bauta and had completed painting courses for five years at Miami Dade College with renowned Artist Baruj Salinas.

Guy Belair My passion for photography goes back to thirty years ago during my university education in science and my first and only scientific photography class. Since then, I have been pursuing my skills, mainly in nature photography. For the last 7 years, I have shifted to digital photography and I have participated regularly in contests on this topic, especially in macro photography. Last year, I participate for the first time in an art & craft exhibition to sell my photos. Recently, I became a member of ArtxTerra web site (http://artxterra.com/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=viewowner&user_id=645&Itemid=101 ) to spread my artistic work. Since 2010, I have started exploring more creative ways of making nature photography using digital techniques, with the objective of maintaining and expressing the spontaneity and freshness of nature photography.

Arthur Jacob Throughout my life I have always had a greater visual sense about how the world looked versus other senses. This visual dominance in perceiving the world has profoundly affected my work as an artist. My art offers an infinite variety of visual perceptions and interpretations for the viewer. The viewer is told what the “real Life” image is in the title of the piece, but through abstraction and reconstruction of that image, the viewer is then asked and challenged to explore the shapes, colors, movements and forms, which the abstraction and reconstruction presents. Colors and shapes become emotion, while form and movement become attitude. Even when a work is easily recognized there is still a predominate thread of color, movement, shape and form. The techniques to achieve these photographic abstractions and reconstructions are a thoughtful and purposeful digital manipulation. Using a mouse rather than a brush to achieve a powerful medium of expression and communication, creates this style of fine art.
Prior to retiring in 2000 and devoting all of my time to photography and digital art, my professional career encompassed activities from social services to becoming involved with marketing, promotion and public relations in three large healthcare corporations. I later became the publisher of a small publishing house in Minneapolis that focused on adult and children’s books that addressed many types of family issues. After leaving the work-a-day world, I moved from Portland to Las Vegas. It was there that I began to promote myself as a serious artist focusing on creativity with photography and digital art. In 2008 I decided to return to the Portland area via Coos Bay where I presently resides. I also have a strong belief that one should be involved in the communities I live in. Putting this belief in to action, I have actively served on several community boards and committees, most recently, the Contemporary Arts Collective in Las Vegas and the Coos Bay Art Museum in Oregon.

Max Tzinman Max Tzinman was born in Romania and lived in Israel and Canada, immersing himself in a multitude of cultures that influenced his artistic philosophy. Formerly an architect, since his move to New York City he has returned to his first love, art. He has recently participated in art and photography shows at LACDA (Los Angeles Center For Digital Art), The Center for Fine Art Photography (Ft. Collins, CO), BAG (Brooklyn Art Gallery), Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Art Gallery, Moss Rehab/Einstein, Atlantic Gallery, MOCA (Museum of Computer Art), and the William Penn Foundation.
