Barnby Dun Rovers When Covid first hit the boys had put themselves in a good position to win the league unfortunately the league was ended early. The boys were massively disappointed. Then we returned after the first lock down training hard and as often as we could, credit to the boys they really work hard to get themselves fit and ready for the upcoming season. The season started and the boys put themselves in a very good position in the league with games in hand to win the league then again covid struck and I had to let the boys know once more that the season would be stopped - mass disappointments after all the hard work. Along came the spring league and we were back training: the boys took to the field and showed a determination I'd not seen like this from them before: they grew from strength to strength each game with a true togetherness and team spirit . They won the league and progressed through to the cup semi finals (in my opinion) the toughest game so far with injuries and a depleted squad they dug deep and eventually won on penalties which took us to the final which they won but not without some nervous moments . The boys were over the moon , I was so proud of them for what they had achieved! A true showing of team spirit and determination, a truly just reward for overcoming the setbacks and enforcing their dedication. Overall they played as a team and we had exceptional performances from our goalkeeper Logan Power who was outstanding, striker Bailey Buzzard put in some excellent performances & the defensive partnership from Sonny Hardy and Daniel James was also exceptional. Moving on to the new season if the boys continue to show the same attitude they will go far pushing for another league title and now being entered into the Sheffield Cup some new challenges arise. Onwards and upwards for Barnby Dun Rovers under 16s. Football has given the boys an escape from the Covid world we are currently living in, it's been so difficult but we've all pulled together to get through this!

DONCASTER CANCER DETECTION TRUST Here we are into the last quarter of the year already….it hardly seems possible. We do hope you have managed to enjoy some change of scenery during the main holiday month or else have something exciting planned for next year. News of our new appeal ! We are going to focus on skin cancer. According to the NHS website it is one of the most common cancers in the world. As we look forward to our holidays abroad (as well as in this country) many of us plan to enjoy a week or two in the sun. It is only in the past few years that we have learnt the true cost of all those hours of sunbathing. Not that skin cancer is confined to sunworshippers, it can occur in people who work outdoors or maybe enjoy outdoor pursuits. At the time of writing we are in consultation with Doncaster Royal Infirmary as to the kind of equipment they need. We will bring you more news of this as soon as we have the information. Good news! We hope to bring you the Memory Tree appeal back in December. As most of you know this is held in the Frenchgate Centre where you can purchase a Christmas tree ornament in memory of a loved one. This is exciting news for us as it will be the first time we have held a public fundraising event for 18 months. If you would like to get in touch with us our details are: 22 Wood Street, Doncaster DN1 3LW (entrance by the side of Kerry Gough Florists), second floor (lift available), Room 209. Tel. 01302 325029. E m a i l : info@dcdt.co.uk. Website: dcdt.co.uk. At last we seem to be moving forward and we really look forward to seeing you, our faithful supporters, and also new ones, in the coming months.

Thorne Camera Club Thorne Camera Club member have been able to meet up and get out and about since the Covid restriction started to be relaxed earlier in the year. Various trips have been organised, mainly with small groups, to nature reserves, stately homes, an evening walk around York as well as an outdoor portrait sessions. Recently a group met at Skipworth Common near Selby, this former military site is now one of the few places in the UK being returned to common heathland. We all were hoping for beautiful colours, dappled sunlight, perhaps a low mist for some stunning photos. But all we really got was very wet as it rained all day. But the banter between members, the coffee and cakes made it all worthwhile. One of the good things about Thorne Camera Club is the support every member receives from other club members, be that helping with photos taken with a camera on the phone for social media stuff, or members wishing to take formally recognised qualifications, there is plenty of experience to share. So if you fancy coming along to the club to see what’s happening please get in touch via the Facebook page which has all the contact details or see the flyers around Thorne. The idea that you have to re-mortgage your house to buy equipment to take quality photos is thankfully past, and most phones now have a superb camera that are simple to use and easy to share quality photos. Changing a few simply settings on the camera app can turn a simple family snap, in to a family portrait worthy of hanging on the lounge wall. Members of the camera will be able to help with this or anything to improve your photos. This month’s photos examples from the club include images taken on Thorne and Hatfield moors, a Northumbrian Castle as well as superb photos showing how evening light can be used effectively.
