WELCOME

WELCOME TO FACADES+ VANCOUVER!

The Architect’s Newspaper iis celebrating the 12th year of the Facades+ conference series. We are thrilled to welcome both new attendees and longtime supporters to the program’s dynamic dialogue. We bring fresh and relevant programming to each city, every year and have an exceptional group of projects and enclosure systems for you to learn about today.

Facades+ Vancouver brings together top professionals from the worlds of design, engineering, fabrication, and construction to consider how high-performance envelopes are evolving and transforming the built environment in Vancouver and across Canada while responding to changing codes, climates, technologies, programs, and client expectations.

I’d like to thank our conference co-chairs, Ryan Bragg and Shauna Bryce from Perkins&Will’s Vancouver office, who have brought together today’s amazing program of design leaders. We invite you to connect with presenters and your peers during networking breaks in the Methods+Materials Gallery throughout the day.

Please get to know the industry-leading sponsors exhibiting in the Methods+Materials Gallery and learn how they will help you shape the future of facade design and technology.

Has Facades+ struck a chord with you? Have a look at our upcoming events held in 13 cities across the U.S. & Canada. Visit our website to learn more about our other events and additional opportunities to earn your CEUs.

SPEAKERS

Co-Chair

RYAN BRAGG

Principal, Corporate and Commercial, Vancouver / Perkins&Will

Adventurous and curious, Ryan jumped at the opportunity to leave northern Alberta and live with relatives in Europe for several months when he was 14. That journey began a life-long love of travel and an appetite for experiencing different cultures—traits that Ryan believes to be the foundation of his context-first design approach. When responding to the contextual and external influences of a project, Ryan looks for the clear simple design solutions first. Through extensive project experience, he has adopted an objective and malleable approach to design. He likens design to another of his passions, artisanal bread baking: all the right ingredients can be combined in the correct proportions, but a successful outcome requires adjusting and responding to the specific environmental conditions.
