Thank you for participating in the ArchAngel MLD Trust 2014 Auction! ArchAngel MLD Trust was established because of a lovely seven year old named Ava, who was recently diagnosed with Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). MLD is a terminal illness, affecting around one in every one hundred thousand people. Her parents were told that there was no treatment available. However, through research they discovered the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, Italy, where a ‘Gene Therapy’ research study was underway, providing hope for a cure for MLD. In January 2014, Ava was accepted as the 12th child to participate in the trial and her treatment began on 23rd March 2014. All monies raised at the Auction will go towards MLD research and treatment, with the beneficiaries being San Raffaele Hospital in Milan who are working to cure Ava, ‘Foundation Telethon’ who have funded the research at San Raffaele, and the MPS Society, who support UK based families affected by MLD.
