And if you think “Hotdog” Jones’ Mariner love-fest stops there, well, as they say, you ain’t heard nothin’ yet. Jones has also had two giant foam rubber fingers that say “#1 AquaSox fan” surgically sewn to his arms. “They’re a bit problematic during dinner time, or when, well, you know, but it sure gets me noticed a lot as I walk around Memorial Stadium on a sunny afternoon” said the superfan. An aspiring baseball player himself, Robert’s son Bobby “Little Smokey” Jones couldn’t be happier about the indoor mini-Stadium. “I love it.

We even get to take batting practice inside the house when it’s raining. And if you hit a ball completely through the wall, it counts as a triple!” The Jones family has even gone as far as to hire an organ player when entertaining guests. “It’s kind of weird,” says one friend who wished to remain anonymous. “Every 10 minutes we all had to yell “Charge!” and do The Wave. I mean, have you ever tried doing the wave with just four people?” Needless to say, Robert “Hotdog” Jones has taken fandom to fanatical new heights.

WHY RIDE THE SOUNDER TRAIN? Save money See the first pitch Hate parking

The biggest reasons for taking the Sounder Train to Safeco Field for a Mariners game are really stacking up. You’ll not only save a bundle on gas, car maintenance and parking, you can kick back and relax as you glide past all the bumper-to-bumper traffic traveling to and from the game. For schedules, routes and fare information, visit soundtransit.org.

current home stand promotions T

he AquaSox are back to the ballpark on Broadway for another exciting set of games against Northwest League West rivals. The Sox face off against the Eugene Emeralds and the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes for a pair of three-game series packed with exciting promotions and giveaways.

Whether you have kids, or you’re just a big kid at heart, you can’t miss the July 18th game against the Emeralds. The one-and-only SpongeBob SquarePants will be making a special appearance, cheering on the Frogs and visiting with fans throughout the game. There’s even more fun after the game with a special postgame movie presented on AquaVision. Fans can stick around to watch the classic film “Sandlot” from their seats at no extra charge.

Bring your sweet tooth to the July 25th contest for Root Beer Float Day. Fans can enjoy unlimited root beer floats for only $5, and the first 500 customers receive a free special edition AquaSox mug. All proceeds from the frozen treats will go to support the AquaSox Community Fund. The Sox will also be handing out a hat voucher, presented by Speedway Chevrolet, and will host the Home Run for NW Children’s Fund. Following the game on the 25th, the AquaSox will be hosting the 2010 Everett Aquasox Celebrity Baseball Classic to benefit the American Cancer Society. The KISW Foul Balls will face the KCPQ Q-Balls, with team rosters that include Q13 personalities Bill Wixey and Lily Jang, among other local celebrities. To purchase tickets visit www.aquasox.com/groups and use the code: acs

The AquaSox have even more fun planned for the youngsters on July 20th for Kids Day. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. to give even the smallest of children the chance to enjoy the whole game without the late-night hassles.

Monday’s series finale is Sno-Isle Library Night, presented by US Bank. The series with the Volcanoes concludes the first-half of the NWL season, meaning the division-leaders as of July 27th will automatically earn a spot in the postseason tournament.

Saturday, July 24, the Sox return home for the first of a three-game series with the Volcanoes. The first 1,000 fans through the gates receive a complimentary AquaSox fleece blanket, courtesy of Comcast.

The Sox take off for a five-game set at the Tri-Cities Dust Devils before returning to Everett August 2nd. Stick around through the summer and watch the AquaSox battle for the NWL title and Unleash the !

WEBBLY’S WINDOW Did You Know…? ✮ AquaSox pitchers Ogui Diaz and Edlando Seco were signed by the Mariners on the exact same day back in 2005. Seco, in Venezuela, and Diaz, in the Dominican Republic, were both signed February 14th – Valentines Day! ✮ Evan Sharpley is the only athlete in Notre Dame history to throw multiple touchdown passes and hit multiple home runs in the same academic year. ✮ Ryan Royster’s uncle, Jerry Royster, played in the major leagues from 1973 to 1988 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. ✮ Cincinnati Reds prospect Chad Rogers was bitten by a shark while surfing off the Galveston coast on June 27. The bite, by what he described as a 5-foot bull shark, resulted in 60 stitches!
