Here at Appetite we are delighted to be serving up another fantastic summer of spectacle and surprises across Stoke-on-Trent. This time around look out for a series of exciting collaborations with Flatpack Film Festival, The Roundhouse and The Royal Opera House, and moments of magic and fantasy as performers take to air and turn to water before your eyes. There are also plenty of opportunities to take part in the action, from a children’s DIY drive-in cinema and the ever popular Poetry Takeaway, to a photo exhibition exploring the lifelong journeys that people have gone on to make Stoke-on-Trent home. Kids, don’t forget to pick up your Big Feast Kids Pack from The Big Feast HQ too to make the weekend even more fun. Thanks, as always, go to our fantastic Supper Club drawn from community groups across the City whose ideas and interests guide our programme; to our wonderful, enthusiastic volunteers who make The Big Feast run so smoothly and of course to our brilliant audiences for your continued support. Appetite is part of the work of the New Vic Theatre alongside Partners in Creative Learning, 6 Towns Radio and Staffordshire University. Our thanks to all of them and our funders and supporters including Arts Council England, Without Walls, Stoke-on-Trent City Council and to Realis Estates for being our Big Feast Headline Sponsor and providing us with The Big Feast HQ (next to B&M in Albion Square). Through the Appetite programme we aim to bring the best of local and national talent to unexpected places in Stoke-on-Trent, from bus stations and shop fronts to markets and parks, to create memories to relish, bring communities together and add a sprinkle of joy to our everyday surroundings. So come, tuck into The Big Feast and see what you discover! Gemma (Creative Producer), Tim (Creative Producer – Maternity Cover) & the Appetite Team

Appetite and GRAIN Projects Present...
Settling A Photographic Archive in Stoke-on-Trent by Sam Ivin 4
The Big Feast HQ
From across the country and all over the world, people have made journeys to The Potteries and created new lives in the city. Working with local residents and using images from family photo albums, award-winning photographer Sam Ivin presents a brand new exhibition exploring people’s stories – how they arrived here and where their journey started from. The exhibition will celebrate what we hold in common and the fantastically diverse city we live in today. Appetite and GRAIN Projects, inspired by the story of local resident Val Bansall, have commissioned acclaimed photographer Sam Ivin to lead this project. Sam has been hosting workshops with residents and community groups in the city to enable the final artwork for this exhibition. 25 Aug: 10:30am - 5pm 26 Aug: 10:30am - 6pm

“Back in 1964 my Dad moved from India to Stoke-on-Trent to create a new life for his family. Last year I suggested to Appetite the idea of working with an artist to explore the stories of those who made similar journeys to the city from outside the country or inside it. I’m thrilled that Appetite and Grain have now commissioned Sam to lead an exciting new photography project to do just that.” Val Bansall, Newcastle-under-Lyme 23

Feed Your Appetite! At Appetite we aim to get more people in Stoke-on-Trent to experience the arts, especially those who would not ordinarily get to see or take part in them. Over the last 5 years we’ve reached over 394,479 people and attracted people from all walks of life to come together to enjoy our events with their friends and family. We rely on the generosity of people and businesses to sustain the work we do, so to continue with our mission we need your support! Your donations, however big or small, will help us to inspire Stoke-on-Trent audiences through world-class art. £2 could help make events more accessible by providing free transport for local communities
£5 could subsidise the cost of a ticket to our spectacular showcase events
£10 could contribute to the cost of training an Appetite Event Volunteer to help make our events fun, safe and sound
Pop your donations in the Donation Stations around The Big Feast or visit www.appetitestoke.co.uk/support-us to donate online.
