ANNEX Since your first big single with Flo-Rida, what’re some new and interesting places your career has taken you? Ive been all over Europe ,I especially loved the romatic architechture in paris , Ive been to the middle east and Egypt , Ive gotten to ride horses through the desert and touch the pyramids.. Given myself a body mud bath in the dead .. explored the ocean in the carrabean . Touring definantly has its perks ANNEX You just released your 2nd EP ‘Human Condition: Sanguine’, describe the feel of the project and your progression as an artist, considering your last project was back in July? Sanguine means optimistic , its different because its alot more hopeful but the same because its just a fusion of all the genres of music that ive come to love since I was a kid ..its a cluster fuck of sound ,I just let the music pour out . Im back in the studio working on the third installment which has a clear sound and feel to it.. Its where I see myself living for a while ..it feels like home . ANNEX How would you describe your personal style of Pop? I call it alternative synth pop.. my own twist on indie pop ANNEX On Human Condition: Doleo EP, you have a song with Travis Scott titled ‘Nervous’, how did that record come about? Tell us about the recording process, chemistry, etc? I met Travis scott through my friend Marcus Williams ( who also goes by his art name Nephilim Giant ) . One day I happened to go by the studio and Travis was playing some beats and songs for his friends and I was just quietly sitting in the back with my hat pulled down low . he was so animated and excited .. and his music was really good .. I really felt his vibe and artisrty and felt safe enough to play him some of my new material that I was experimenting with . I played stimela , Reachout and tomorrow and right then and there we both became fans of eachothers work . he says he will produce something for me and I hope that happens soon ANNEX When you made ‘Dirty Talk’ did you know it would become a #1 single? No I didnt .. every artist wants that but there not prepared for the moment it actually happens . ANNEX Considering you’re from Queens, do you still live in New York? If so, what’re your favorite places to eat? I live in New york ... If I move it will be a drastic move , like to a country they dont speak english . my favorite place to eat is miss lilys . if you go there and tell Dennis I sent you , you will get a great table . ANNEX You were signed to Atlantic Records at a young age, what’s your experience in the industry been so far, and how would you encourage young singers/songwriters? Atlantic Records was my college , I grew up there and became the artist I am today . ... I would say know who you are and what your vision is completely and really nobody , not the label , not an A&R can express who you are better than you . be very clear about what you want . ANNEX Who are some singer/songwriting peers of yours that inspire you to be a better artist and really push yourself? I came up with the likes of Claude Kelly , when you see somebody go from literally the bottom to the top ..man it makes you wanna get up and work. my friend nicole morier and liv and mim nervo they are great writers . Angel haze , Dj camper, Sky ferriera , Childish Gambino and Ronnie james .I love the new wave of purists , who will say whats on there mind and make music there way ANNEX Biggest Pet Peeve? knuckle popping ANNEX What’s the worst studio experience you’ve ever had? When I had to do a session a couple years back with a writer who thought he new exactly what I needed and who I was .. I didnt like the song and he was very specific on how he wanted me to sing it ...I was just looking at the clock ANNEX Future plans for 2013 now that you’ve release this EP? Im back in the studio ...working on my sound and creating visuals for the project . its a really exciting time for me . Id like to be playing every festival possible and singing on jimmy fallon . ANNEX If you could describe your musical journey in one word, what would that word be? Narnia by: K. Escobar
