The new VHCC Collaboration Station housed in the campus Library is making it possible for students to work on group projects and presentations, study together, and conduct joint research using the latest technology. Up to six laptops or other mobile devices can be connected at one time and displayed on the large monitors using toggle switches controlled by group members. A field trip to the Botanical Gardens at the University of North Carolina-Asheville gave Biology and Horticulture students an opportunity to try their skills at identifying a wide variety of plants that are native to our region. Associate Professor Kevin Hamed arranged the trip and other research-based opportunities that get students out of the classroom and into nature.
