What is an Institutional Certificate? An Institutional Certificate is a series of courses that provide the skills needed in various occupations. From Manufacturing Management to Event Planner, we have relied on the voices of experts to determine what is needed in these fields.

This is just our current list. Every year, we will review what we are offering and what the trends are to meet your needs.
Some experts state that the majority of us will have 8 major career changes throughout our lifetime. It is truly rare to find an individual who has worked for the same company for 20 or more years. And if you are over the age of 30, you know how the economy can shift at a moment’s notice. Think, the more skills you have, the more opportunities you have. Get prepared now for the immediate future and the not so immediate by adding to your skill set. Or explore a new career to determine if this is for you. Most of our courses concentrated so you won’t be spending 2-4 years of your time in something you might not like. And even if you find that a particular certificate isn’t for you, at least you will have gained knowledge in the industry.

How do I register? We have three methods of registering for courses: Online, InPerson, and by phone. Our online registration is easy to use and allows you to browse all of the courses we offer. In-person registration is located at 3209 S. Staples at the Center for Economic Development. You can also talk to one of our professional staff to help you decide on a career move. Parking is free and convenient. Our hours are 7:30 – 6:30 Monday through Thursday and from 7:30 to Noon on Fridays. You can also register by phone by calling (361) 698-1328. Your registration is not complete until payment has been made. If we must cancel a class, we will process your refund. If you need to drop a class, you will be eligible for a 100% refund up to midnight of the first day of class.
