Naziv programa / Naziv podprograma

Animanima, osmo izdanje Dragi ljubitelji animiranog filma, 8. po redu ANIMANIMA je pred vama. Novo izdanje našeg i vašeg festivala može se pohvaliti i novim izgledom internet strane. Za to se pobrinuo dizajner Ivan Kostić, kao i za dizajn festivalskog videa: njegove slike je pokrenuo i oživeo neumorni i lucidni animator Krunoslav Jović, a zvučnu sliku uobličio je u svom studiju Miloš Gojković. Dakle, stari saradnici, ali u novoj kombinaciji i kreativnoj raspodeli.

Zbog poteškoća sa kojima smo se susretali, ove godine festivalski budžet značajno je umanjen. Izostavili smo takmičarski program, ali dobrih filmova, sigurni smo, neće nedostajati. Deo recentne svetske produkcija zastupljen je u reviji filmova koji su pobrali nagrade na najznačajnijem svetskom festivalu animacije u Ansiju, među njima i dobitnik gran prija, „Čovek na stolici“, korejske autorke Dahe Jeong. Ove godine dugometražni program biće nešto obimniji, a ono što svakako ne smete propustiti je „Prevara“, novi film kralja indi scene Bila Plimtona. Po prvi put na našem kulturnom prostoru predstavlja se animirana kinematografija Andaluzije, a „reklamožderi“ će uživati u programu „Drive My Car“, realizovanom u saradnji sa kanadskim portalom STASH. Ova godina svuda u svetu prolazi u znaku obeležavanja stogodišnjice rođenja Normana Meklarena, tako da ni ANIMANIMA neće biti izuzetak: očekujemo vas na uzbudljivoj retrospektivi velikog majstora animacije! Animanima, 8th edition Dear animated film lovers, the 8th edition of ANIMANIMA has arrived. Among other things, the new edition is proud of the new look of its web pages, designed by Ivan Kostić. As for the design of the festival video, its pictures have been set in motion and inspired by the tireless and lucid work of the animator Krunoslav Jović, accompanied by the soundtrack produced in the studio of Miloš Gojković. Another undertaking of the old collaborators, but this time in a new combination and creative distribution of tasks. Even though the hardships during this year and the significant cuts in the festival budget have left us without the competition programme, one thing is for sure: there will be no shortage of good fims. A part of the recent global production is presented withing the presentation of films that have won awards at the world’s most significant animation festival in Annecy, including the Grand Prix winner, the Man on the Chair by the South Corean author Dahee Jeong. This year’s feature films programme will be more comprehensive than usual, and one of the must-see creations is certainly the Cheatin’, a new film by the “King” of indie animation scene Bill Plympton. The viewers will also have the chance to see for the first time in our cultural environment the animated cinematography of Andalucia, while lovers of TV commercials will have their chance to enjoy the Drive My Car programme, brought to us in collaboration with the Canadian portal STASH. This year has been marked around the world by various events commemorating the hundredth anniversary of Norman McLaren’s birth, and ANIMANIMA will be paying its tribute as well: we are expecting you at the exciting retrospective of the great animation master! Ansi, banja u Francuskoj u blizini granice sa Švajcarskom, za turiste iz celog sveta je sinonim za prijatan boravak u lepom mestu kraj kristalnog jezera sa pogledom na Alpe. Ali, za sve one koji su posvećeni animiranom filmu ili kao autori, producenti, edukatori, prikazivači ili samo kao zainteresovana, neizmerno radoznala publika, Ansi je reč koja izaziva grozničavo uzbuđenje u iščekivanju da ova najveća svetkovina animiranog filma u svetu (bogata tradicija seže od njenih početaka, daleke 1960. godine) svake godine u junu predstavi obilje svojih programa. Brojni tim eksperata i saradnika različitih profila, predvođen vizionarskim i kreativnim umetničkim direktorom, Kanađaninom Marselom Žanom, dao je sve od sebe da izdanje 2014. nadmaši prethodno. Sve u vezi sa Ansijem je priča o velikim brojevima, pa ni ova sezona nije izuzetak: 115 000 karata, više od 7000 akreditacija, više od 500 prikazanih filmova iz 73 zemlje, 26 nagrada. A kada govorimo o nagradama, imamo zadovojstvo da vam u okviru specijalnog programa „NAJBOLJE IZ ANSIJA 2014“ prikažemo crème de la crème, deset filmova nagrađenih na ovom prestižnom festivalu: „Kristal“ za diplomski film – Veća slika, Dejzi Džejkobs, Nagradu žirija – Zakrpa, Gerda Gokela, Nagradu „Off-Limits“ – Strana tela, Nikola Broa, Nagradu publike – Anatolova mala šerpa, Erika Monšoa)... i druge, uključujući, naravno, i dobitnika gran prija, Ansijevog „Kristala“ za najbolji kratki animirani film, izvanredno ostvarenje Čovek na stolici, južnokorejske rediteljke Dahe Jeong.

For tourists around the world, the French spa Annecy just off the Swiss border is synonymous with a pleasant stay at a nice resort, on the shore of the crystal-clear lake and a view of the Alps. For those, however, who are dedicated to animated films – be it authors, producers, educators, presenters or just ordinary, interested and endlessly curious audience, Annecy is the word that provokes a hectic thrill in the anticipation of the world’s largest animated film feast (the rich tradition dates back to its beginnings, as far back as 1960) and its regular presentation of the wealth of the festival programmes that takes place in June each year. The numerous team of experts and collaborators of various profiles, headed by the visisonary and creative art director Canadian Marcel Jean, have done their best to make the 2014 outperform all of the previous ones. Everything about Annecy is gigantic in figures, and this season is no exception: 115,000 tickets, more than 7000 accreditations, over 500 films from 73 countries and 26 awards.

MEKLAREN, DELIRIČNI SANJAR Povodom 100 godina od rođenja majstora animacije Normana Meklarena Petak / 14.11.2014. / Velika sala / 19:00 Na severnoameričkom kontinentu 40-ih godina XX veka odigravaju se prevrati u oblasti filmske animacije koji će doprineti drugačijem kritičkom prijemu i razumevanju animiranog filma. Izraziti oponent diktatu sladunjavih proizvoda iz Diznijevog studija, Teks Ejveri, izvrnuće fabulu naglavce, dopuštajući svojim anarhoidnim likovima iznenađujuće kalambure, istovremeno dovodeći u nove odnose elemente filmske forme. Daleko od vreve, u miru i pod okriljem kanadskog Nacionalnog filmskog borda (NFB), jedan tihi revolucionar – Norman Meklaren – konsekventno je sprovodio svoje vizije u delo i ispostaviće se da će to biti, kako je rekao Ranko Munitić, fundamentalne inovacije, remek-dela slobodne animacijske ekspresije. Škot rođenjem (Stirling, 1914), Meklaren je najveći deo života proveo u Kanadi i svi njegovi profesionalni uspesi neraskidivo su vezani za kanadski Nacionalni filmski bord (NFB). Pre dolaska u Otavu 1941. godine, proveo je neko vreme u Londonu i u Njujorku. U prestonici Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva je za Nacionalnu poštu načinio promotivni film Ljubav na krilu (1938), koji je onačio prvu zvaničnu upotrebu tehnike direktnog crtanja na filmsku traku, čime je film realizovan bez posredovanja kamere. U Americi, naredne godine, u njegovom filmu Tačke i čvorovi, pored apstraktne slike i zvuk je apstraktan, nastao uz pomoć mehaničkih modifikcija zvučnih zapisa. U Kanadi Meklaren intenzivno radi, trebalo je podstaći građane na kupovinu ratnih obveznica ili ih upoznati sa opasnostima inflacije i prednostima štednje, ali su ovi propagandni filmovi u isto vreme bili i značajni eksperimenti van do tada uobičajenih okvira samog medija.

Meklarenu je 1943. povereno otvaranje i organizacija posebnog NFB-ovog odela za animaciju i on ubrzo okuplja oko sebe značajna imena, poput Džordža Daninga, Renea Žoduana, Džima Mekeja, Granta Manroa i Žan-Pola Ladusera, sa kojim će 1944. napraviti film Ševa, pokretanjem komadića isečenog materijala. Bio je to svojevrsni eksperiment koji će odvesti ka novima, metamorfiranju crteža i iluziji neprekidnog kretanja u prostoru. Tih godina nastaju i filmovi-ilustracije starih narodnih pesama francuske kulturne tradicije u Kanadi, u kojima se prepoznaje Meklarenova buduća jaka veza sa muzikom i plesom. Kada se 1949. godine pojavio film Razbibriga, na muziku džez trija Oskara Pitersona, bio je to još jedan zreli rad u oblasti njegovog apstraktnog izražavanja, ali i više od toga, jer, videvši film, Pikaso je egzaltirano uzviknuo: „Konačno nešto novo!“ Međutim, Meklaren ne prestaje da iznenađuje: on aplicira tehniku snimanja „kadar po kadar“ (frame-by-frame) na ljudske pokrete i ostvaruje zapanjujuće efekte: film Susedi (njih dvojica bi jedan cvet želeli svaki u svom dvorištu, zbog čega otpočne bespoštedna borba oko međe) dobija Oskar 1952. Vest o prestižnoj nagradi Meklarena je zatekla u Indiji (jedan u nizu njegovih socijalnih angažmana), a skromni maestro je odgovorio: „Hvala, ali ko je taj Oskar?“ Za Meklarena je često tehnički aspekt kreacije bio značajan u meri u kojoj bi najpre osmislio metod, a onda za njega pogodnu temu filma. Blinkiti Blenk (1954) svoju sliku duguje mehaničkom grebanju filmske trake, u Priči o stolici (1957) trik-kamera predmet ontologizuje, dodeljujući mu karakter. U remek-delu iz 1967. godine, Pas de deux, igra dvoje baletskih umetnika je tehnikom hronofotografije, sukcesivnim umnožavanjem njihovih pokreta, dostigla vanvremenost, gotovo mističnost. Film kao da je vizuelizovao Meklarenovu maksimu o animaciji koja nije umetnost pokrenutih crteža, već nacrtanog pokreta, od esencijalne važnosti je ne ono što se može naći u crtežima, nego između njih. Koherencija vizuelnog i zvučnog je u središtu Meklarenovog umetničkog izraza. Za istoričara animacije Đanalberta Bendacija, Meklaren je bio introspektivni pesnik, delirični sanjar pokretnih geometrjskih formi i istraživač manje poznatih oblasti filmske umetnosti. The changes in the film animation that took place during 1940s in North America would eventually contribute to an overall different critical view and perception of animated film. A fervent opponent of the sweetened products dictated by the Disney Studio, Tex Avery will turn the fable upside down, allowing his anarchic characters to delve into astounding pranks, while at the same time bringing the elements of the film form into new relations. Far away from the bustle of the main scene, undisturbed under the wing of the Canadian National Film Board (NFB), the quiet revolutionary Norman McLaren kept turning his visions into reality in a gradual process that would turn out to be, as Ranko Munitić once observed, a series of fundamental innovations, master-pieces of animation expressiveness. As an artist of Scottish descent (born in Stirling in 1914), McLaren lived in Canada for most of his life and all of his professional success was inseparably linked with the Canadian National Film Board (NFB). Before moving to Ottawa in 1941, he had spent some time working in London and New York. In the promotional film Love on the Wing (1938), which he had made in the UK capital, he pioneered a cameraless technique of direct drawing onto the film tape. In the film that he made in America in the following year, Dots and Loops, abstract visual expression was supported by an abstract soundtrack, made using mechanical modifications of sound recordings. McLaren’s work in Canada is laborious and intense, driven by the need to encourage the citizens to buy the government bonds, to make them aware of the dangers of inflation and the advantages of saving; at the same time, these propaganda films were also significant experiments beyond the current standard frameworks of the medium. In 1943, McLaren was entrusted with the task of setting up and organising a special NFB animation department, where he soon gathered some important artists such as George Dunning, René Jodoin, Jim McKay, Grant Munro and Jean-Paul Ladouceur,

with whom he would make the Skylark in 1944, featuring the technique of moving cut-out pieces of material. In its own right, this experiment would lead to new exploration and eventually to metamorphic transformation of the drawing and creating the illusion of perpetual movement through space. This period would see the creation of films-illustrations of old folk songs, part of the French cultural heritage in Canada, suggesting McLaren’s later strong bonds with music and dance. Apart from being another mature product of the artist’s abstract explorations, the 1949 Begone Dull Care, featuring the Oscar Peterson jazz trio music, was also a step further – having seen the film, Picasso’s exalted comment was: “Finally something new!” However, McLaren’s stock of surprises did not end here – instead, he moves on to apply the frame-by-frame technique on human movements, achieving astonishing results. The Neighbours (engaged in a ferocious fight over the boundary, each of them wanting the same flower in his yard) won the Oscar in 1952. The news of the prestigious award reached McLaren in India (attending to one of his numerous social engagements), and was received by the modest master with a comment: “Thanks, but who is Oscar?”. McLaren found the purely technical aspect of creation significant to the degree to which he would first thought of a method, and then defined a suitable theme for it. While Blinkity Blank owes its picture to the mechanical scratching of the film tape, the Chairy Tale (1957) the object is ontologised by the trick-camera endowing it with a character. In his 1967 masterpiece, Pas de deux, the dance of two ballet artists is transposed to a timeless, almost mystic dimension by the chronophotography technique and successive multiplication of their movements. The film seems to have visualised McLaren’s maxim of animation representing not an art of moving drawings, but of the drawnmovement, where the prime importance is not placed on the content of the drawings themselves, but rather on what is between the drawings. The coherence between the visual and audio content is in the centre of McLaren’s artistic expression. For animation historian Giannalberto Bendazzi, McLaren was an introspective poet, a delirious dreamer of moving geometric forms and an explorer of lesser-known areas of the cinematic art. Festival ANIMANIMA nastavlja saradnju sa kreativcima iz Toronta, STASH Magazinom, koji se stara o najvećoj svetskoj onlajn videoteci animacije, specijalnih efekata i moušn dizajna, čiji je sastavni deo i mnoštvo posebnih sadržaja koji se odnose na unapređenje znanja u oblasti struke. STASH-ova arhiva vrvi od reklama za automobile: Tojota, Mercedes, BMW, Subaru, Ford, Škoda, Audi, Reno, Pežo, Nisan, Sitroen, Ševrolet, Folksvagen... Umetnički direktor Animanime Milen Alempijević predložio je STASH-ovim urednicima Stivenu Prajsu i Heder Griv jedan pomalo neobičan program, a njima se ideja dopala i izašli su u susret njegovoj zamisli i izboru, tako da Animanima ponovo ima zadovoljstvo da svojoj publici predstavi deo bogate STASH-ove kolekcije animiranih radova autora iz celog sveta. Ovaj program, realizovan u saradnji sa Institutom Servantes iz Beograda, još jedna je prilika prilika da na Animanimi gledamo ostvarenja recentne animirane produkcije iz Španije. Ovoga puta predstavljamo autore iz regiona Andaluzija. Audiovizuelna fondacija Andaluzije nam je obezbedila šest filmova nastalih u periodu 20082013. godine. “Princ smeća“ je distopijska priča o dečaku koji živi u svom paralelnom svetu u ruinama i sreće se sa ljudima, najokrutnijim bićima koja je ikada mogao da zamisli. Crna komedija “Dama i Smrt“ pripoveda o starici koja umire i arogantnom doktoru koji je u sali za hitne slučajeve neprestano vraća u život boreći se sa Smrću lično! „Alfred i Ana“ govori o idealima profesora muzike Alfreda zbog kojih se on vremenom udaljio od svoje supruge Ane. „Fuga“ je fantazmagorična pripovest o devojčici Sari koja u konzervatorijumu otkriva različite načinie razumevanja realnosti u kojoj živi i sopstvenog talenta. „Origami“ donosi poetičnu priču o papirnom brodiću iz napuštene prodavnice igračaka koji kreće na životno putovanje. „Gospodin Barijentos – ofsajd“ je pitka komedija u kojoj gospodina u zapuštenom hotelu jedne olujne fudbalske noći iznenada poseti misteriozna osoba... Ovi filmovi svedoče o širokom rasponu autorskih poetika, od SF-a, preko crnohumorne komedije, do psihološke drame, i predstavljaju u najboljem svetlu savremenu animacijsku scenu na krajnjem jugu Pirinejskog poluostrva. www.avandalus.org

This programme, realized in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute from Belgrade, presents another opportunity for the Animanima audiences to watch the releases of the recent animation production of Spain. This time, the festival will present authors from the region of Andalusia. The institution of Fundación Audiovisual de Andalucía has provided six films created in the period between 2008 and 2013. “The Garbage Prince” is distopian story about a boy who lives in a parallel world full of ruins where he encounters humans, the cruelist beings he could ever have imagined. Black comedy “The lady and the reaper “ depicts an old lady waiting for her last hour to be reunited with her late husband and an arrogant doctor who starts a fierce battle with the Death herself! In “Alfred & Anna” idealistic music teacher Alfred drifts away from his wife Ana as time goes by. Sara, main character from short film “Fugue” will discover at music Conservatory in a phantasmagoric way different sides of her own reality and talent.“Origami” brings a poetic story about a little paper boat from a deserted toy shop, who one day decided to embark on the journey of a lifetime. Finally, in “Mister Barirentos – Offside”, one stormy football night a gentleman in a rundown hotel is suddenly visited by a mysterious person... Here we have the wide scope of the authors’ poetic approaches, ranging from SF, to dark humour comedy, to psychological drama, representing in the best light the contemporary animation scene of the southernmost region of the Iberian Peninsula. www.avandalus.org

REŽIJA ANIMIRANOG FILMA – Master Finih umetnosti (M.F.A.) Master Program Režije animiranog filma omogućuje studentima da usavrše svoja tehnička i kreativna znanja i veštine usvojene tokom Osnovnih studija animacije, kao i da dodatno razviju svoj individualni umetnički pristup u praktičnim postavkama. Pored pripreme za uspešnu karijeru slobodnog umetnika, program studente osposobljava i za uspešno rukovođenje timom saradnika. Izbor naboljih diplomskih filmova predstaviće specijalna gošća iz Potsdama, nekada i sama student ove ugledne nemačke obrazovne ustanove, a sada predavač na odseku za animaciju, Julija Dufek.

Julija Dufek. Rođena u Zapadnom Berlinu 1975. godine, Julija Dufek je prvih deset godina svog života provela u tada podeljenoj Nemačkoj, da bi 1986. sa roditeljima otišla u Bocvanu u Africi, gde ostaje do kraja školovanja 1993. godine (diplomirala je na južnoafričkom Voterford Kamlaba Junajtid Vorld koledžu u Svazilendu). Vrativiši se u Berlin, započinje studije animacije na Visokoj školi za film i televiziju „Konrad Volf“ (sada Filmski univerzitet Konrad Volf u Babelzbergu). Godine 2010, odlazi u Italiju, u Firencu, gde živi i studira vajarstvo na Umetničkoj akademiji u Firenci. Počev od 2012, angažovana je kao umetnički član fakulteta, na odseku za animaciju pri Univerzitetu „Konrad Volf“ u Babelsbergu, gde pomaže studentima u njihovim filmskim projektima, drži predavanja iz oblasti Autodesks Maya, Pixologics Zbrush, kao šef katedre Vicon Motion Capture System, 3D skener i 3D printer. Uvek naglašava figurativnu prirodu svog rada, bilo da radi o analognim ili digitalnim tehnikama. Sebe doživljava kao vajara koji kroz animaciju izrađuje “skulpturu u pokretu”.

BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS (B.F.A.) The training provided focuses on the artistic, practical, and technological basics of all classic, experimental, and digital 2D and 3D animation techniques. What makes HFF's Animation B.F.A. program special is that it enables students to take responsibility for all steps in the production of an animated film – from the development of the first idea, the story, and the visual style over the creation of a storyboard, character design, and artistic / technical implementation to sound recording and film playout. DIRECTING FOR ANIMATION – Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) The Animation Direction M.F.A. program allows students to enhance the technical and creative skills acquired during the Animation B.F.A. program and to further develop their individual artistic approach in a practical setting. In addition to the preparation of a successful artistic career in the freelance business, the program also provides systematic training on how to manage a team. The selection of the best graduation films will be presented by our special guest from Potsdam, herself a former student of this respectable German school and a current lecturer at the Animation Department, Julia Dufek. 01

Julia Dufek. Born in 1975 in West Berlin, Julia Dufek spent her first 10 Years in divided Germany. With her parents she left for Botswana, Africa in 1986, where she stayed until she finished her schooling in 1993 (in Swaziland at the Waterford Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa). Back in Berlin she studied animation at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen “Konrad Wolf”, (now Filmuniversity Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF). In 2010 Julia left for Florence, Italy to live and study sculpture at the Florence Academy of Art. Since 2012 she is an artistic member of faculty in the animation department of the Filmuniversity Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF. Here she assists students with their film-projects, teaches Autodesks Maya, Pixologics Zbrush and is in charge of the departments Vicon Motion Capture System, the 3D scanner and 3D printer. The emphasize in her work has always been figurative, be it analog or digital. She sees herself as a sculptor who embraces animation as “sculpture in motion”.

O!Pla preko granica 2014 predstavlja sasvim izuzetan program, u kome se prikazuju pobednici o!Pla – festivala poljske animacije (www.polskaanimacja.pl), kao potpuno nezavisnog kulturnog projekta, čije je drugo izdanje održano u 44 grada u Poljskoj, od 21. marta do 8. juna 2014. godine, dok je odluku o pobednicima donosila isključivo publika!

O!PLA preko granica 2014 predstavlja neku vrstu preseka savremene (2012-2014) poljske animacije za gledaoca uzrasta 16+ i uključujući kako filmove stvorene u profesionalnom studiju, tako i potpuno nezavisne animacije, školske filmove (diplomske radove), animirane muzičke spotove, sve do animiranih epigrama (veoma kratkih filmova), kao nove kategorije. Od samog početka, osnovni cilj festivala O!PLA bio je da (ponovo) izgradi odnose između publike i umetnika, kao i da umetnost animacije dovede do manjih centara u zemlji. Uz sve to, zahvaljujući specijalnim projekcijama za gledaoce svih uzrasta, predavanjima, susretima sa umetnicima i radionicama, O!PLA ima i značajnu edukativnu dimenziju. Konačno, zahvaljujući projektu O!PLA preko granica 2014, moguće je promovisati umetnost poljske animacije u drugim zemljama (prošle godine, projekat je prikazan u 32 grada na 4 kontinenta). Treće izdanje festival O!PLA održaće se u periodu 21.03.-31.05. 2015. godine. Pokretač i glavni organizator festivala O!PLA je Animation Across Borders (Pjotr Kardas).

O!PLA Across the Borders 2014 is an exceptional program including the winners of O!PLA – The Festival of Polish Animation (www.polskaanimacja.pl) – the fully independent cultural project, whose second edition was held in 44 Polish cities, from March 21st to June 8th 2014, and in which only audience decide about the winners!

O!PLA Across the Borders 2014 is a kind of cross-section of contemporary (20122014) Polish animation for audience 16+; including both “films made in professional studio”, fully independent animations, school (graduation films), animated music videos, and new category – “animated epigrams” (very short movies). From the very beginning, the main aim of O!PLA was to (re)build relations between audience and artists, and reaching out with the art of animation especially to smaller centers in the country. Moreover, O!PLA – thanks to special screenings for viewers of all ages, lectures, meetings with artists and animation workshops – has a significant educational dimension. And thanks to O!PLA Across the Borders 2014 project it is possible to promote the art of Polish animation also abroad (last year in 32 cities at 4 continents). 3rd edition of O!PLA will be held 21.03-31.05.2015. Džejka i Elu će spojiti sudbinski sudar automobila u luna-parku, i oni će postati najzaljubljeniji par u dugoj istoriji romanse. Ali kada neka “druga” žena vična spletkarenju poseje zrno ljubomore u njihovo savršeno udvaranje, nesigurnost i mržnja progovaraju jezikom dovešće do zlehude sudbine. Oslonivši se jedino na pomoć osramoćenog čarobnjaka i njegove zabranjene ”mašine duše“, Ela poprima obličje Džejkovih mnogobrojnih ljubavnica, očajnički se hvatajući u koštac sa kvarovima i obmanama, u hrabrom pokušaju da povrate svoju sudbinu.

Bila Plimptona smatraju “kraljem” nezavisne animacije, i ostaje zabeležen kao jedini umetnik koji je rukom iscrtao animirani dugomtražnifilm. Odrastavši u rodnom Portlandu u Oregonu, diplomirao je na odseku za Grafički dizajn državnog Univerziteta u Portlandu. Nakon prelaska u Njujork 1968. godine, započinje karijeru strip crtača za izdanja kao što su New York Times, National Lampoon, Playboy i Screw. Njegov kratki animirani film Your Face nominovan je za Oscar® 1987. godine, da bi naredna nominacija za Oscar® usledila 2005. godine, ovoga puta za kratki film Guard Dog. Prestižno priznanje Filmskog festivala u Kanu, Zlatnu palmu, osvojio je 1991. godine kratkim filmom Push Comes to Shove. Nakon što je izradio veći broj kratkih filmova koji su prikazivani na MTV-u i na festivalu Spike and Mike, svoje umetničke talente usmerio je ka dugometražnom filmu. Od 1991. godine napravio ih je devet od kojih su šest animirani: The Tune, Mondo Plympton, I Married A Strange Person, Mutant Aliens, Hair High i Idiots and Angels.

Bill Plympton is considered the King of Indie Animation and is the only person to hand draw an entire animated feature film. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, he graduated from Portland State University in Graphic Design. Bill Plympton moved to New York City in 1968. He began his career creating cartoons for publications such as New York Times, National Lampoon, Playboy and Screw. In 1987 he was nominated for an Oscar® for his animated short Your Face. In 2005, Bill received another Oscar® nomination, this time for a short film Guard Dog. Push Comes to Shove another short film, won the prestigious Cannes 1991 Palme d'Or. After producing many shorts that appeared on MTV and Spike and Mike's, he turned his talent to feature films. Since 1991 he's made 9 feature films, 6 of them, The Tune, Mondo Plympton, I Married A Strange Person, Mutant Aliens, Hair High and Idiots and Angels are all animated features.

U promociji svoje knjige BOSNIAN FLAT DOG, švedski strip umetnici Maks Anderson i Lars Sjunerson obilaze zemlje bivše Jugoslavije, sa frižiderom u kome je mumija Maršala Tita. Posmatrajući kako se kabine pogranične kontrole pretvaraju u improvizovane foto-sesije, zadivljeni mutant-varijantama Diznijevih igračaka iz ere Gvozdene zavese, kupujući suvenire-rukotvorine izrađene od artiljerijske granate i otkrivajući umetnost snajpera u stanovima uništenim eksplozijom, dolaze do zaključka da bi stvarnost zaista mogla da bude čudnija od mašte. Dugometražni prvenac Maksa Andersona odvija se na više nivoa, čime se ostvaruje retko viđena sinteza forme i sadržaja. Kombinacijom tehnike “mrvljenja” animiranih prikaza, fragmentarnih likova od smeća i zrnaste strukture stare crno-bele “Super osmice”, pomešanih sa prizorima MiniDV dokumentaraca, postignut je krajnji rezultat do sada nepoznatog, ali isto tako i savršeno prirodnog izgleda. Vratolomno putovanje kroz paralelni univerzum u kome se raspadaju sve granice doživljavamo kao nešto tragično, poetično i istovremeno urnebesno smešno.

Maks Anderson (1962, Karesunado, Švedska) pripada talasu švedskih stripumetnika koji se javlja sredinom osamdesetih godina prošlog veka, kada je na samom početku bio zapažen kao talentovani filmski animator. Anderson je autor andergraund strip-klasika Pixy i Death and Candy, kao i nekoliko kratkih filmova, među kojima je i nagrađivani film Sto godina. Helena Ahonen se profesionalno bavi dizajniranjem šešira i ima sopstveni studio i radnju u Berlinu. TITO NA LEDU označava njen debi kao snimatelja i reditelja. Od 1995. godine naovamo sarađivala je sa Maksom Andersonom na nekoliko umetničkih projekata.

To promote their book BOSNIAN FLAT DOG, Swedish comics artists Max Andersson and Lars Sjunnesson tour the countries of former Yugoslavia with a mummyfied Marshal Tito in a refrigerator. Watching border controls turn into improvised snapshot sessions, admiring mutant iron-curtain Disney toys, buying souvenir grenade shell handicrafts and discovering sniper art in blown-out apartments, they find that truth may indeed be stranger than fiction. Max Andersson’s feature film debut operates on multiple levels to achieve a rare synthesis of form and content. The combination of animated crumbling, fragmentary garbage characters and grainy black and white super 8 mixed with documentary MiniDV looks like nothing else but seems perfectly natural. A roller coaster ride through a parallel universe where all borders are disintegrating – at the same time tragic, poetic and hilariously funny.

Max Andersson (Karesunado, 1962, Sweden) is one of the Swedish comics artists who emerged in the mid-1980’s, originally also making his mark as a talented film animator. Andersson is the author of underground comic classics Pixy and Death And Candy as well as several short films, among them the award-winning One Hundred Years. Helena Ahonen, a professional hat designer, maintains her own studio and shop in Berlin. TITO ON ICE marks her debut as a cinematographer and director. She has collaborated with Max Andersson on several art projects between 1995 and the present.

Jung Enan je u saradnji s rediteljem Loranom Boaloom adaptirao svoj uspešni grafički roman o odrastanju usvojenog korejskog deteta u belgijskoj porodici. Jung je jedan je od 200.000 usvojenih Koreanaca širom sveta. On odlučuje da se po prvi put vrati u Južnu Koreju da bi udahnuo vazduh domovine, prošetao zemljom svojih predaka i možda pronašao tragove biološke majke. Ovo putovanje pomirenja sa samim sobom i svojim poreklom načinjeno je u obliku animiranog dokumentarca.

Loran Boalo. Jednu deceniju je radio kao glavni snimatelj, a zatim glavni montažer na brojnim dokumentarnim filmovima. Strast prema stripovima i uopšteno prema grafičkoj umetnosti rezultirala je nekolicinom filmova o devetoj umetnosti. Za dvadesetu godišnjicu pada Berlinskog zida napravio je animiranu seriju za RTBF i curiosphere.tv. Osim režije, bavi se hronikom stripa na portalu actuabd.com, kao i animiranim stripom na stranici France Télévisions. Jung. Rođen u Seulu, 1965. godine. Jedna belgijska porodica ga je usvojila 1971. godine. Uzeo je ime Jung Enan. Nakon studija crtanja na akademiji umetničke škole u Briselu počeo je da ilustruje kratke članke za Spirou i Tintin. Prve knjige objavio 1991. godine, a 2006. objavio je Couleur de Peau: Miel, autobiografski prikaz u crno-beloj tehnici za ediciju Soleil.

Henin’s collaboration with the film director Laurent Boileau resulted in this adaptation of his successful graphic novel telling a story of the growing up of a Corean child adopted by a Belgium family. Jung is one of the 200,000 Coreans adopted around the world. He decides for the first time to go back to South Corea, to breathe the air of his ancestors, walk on it and perhaps find traces of his biological mother. This is a journey of reconciliation with oneself and one’s origins, composed in the form of the animated documentary.

Laurent Boileau. Having spent a decade working as a chief cameraman and the chief editor for a number of documentary films, his passion for comic strips and graphic art in general resulted in several films about the Ninth Art. Marking the twentieth anniversary of the downfall of the Berlin Wall, he made an animated series for the RTBF nad curiosphere.tv. Apart from film directing, he is active producing the comic strip chronicle at the actuabd.com portal, as well as animated comic strip at the France Télévisions web pages. Jung. Born in Seoul in 1965, he took the name Jung Henin after being adopted by a Belgium family in 1971. Completing the studies of drawing at the Academy of the Brussels Art School, he started illustrating short articles for Spirou and Tintin. His first books were published in 1991, and in 2006 he produced the autobiographic black-and-white account Couleur de Peau: Miel, published by the Soleil publishers.

UMETNOST PRETERIVANJA Beleške jednog gledaoca Subota /15.11.2014. / Mala sala / 17:00 UMETNOST PRETERIVANJA je nastala kao posledica želje da se estetici i poetici savremenog autorskog animiranog filma, nesicrpnom panoptikumu ideja i vizura, pristupi s namerom da krajnji rezultat bude knjiga koja će pozvati na nova ili ponovna gledanja. Tematski raspon knjige obuhvata tumačenja fenomena gradova kao najprotivrečnijih simbola savremenog društva; koegzistencije animalnog i humanog sveta; odnosa i veza između animiranog filma i džeza kao muzičkog idioma koji je revolucionisao poimanje popularne muzike; poetika pojedinih autora iz zemlje i sveta, diskurs o ulozi i funkciji lutke-subjekta u narativu animiranog filma. Recenzent ovog izdanja, filmski kritičar Nebojša Popović, kaže: “UMETNOST PRETERIVANJA je ozbiljna i višestruko proživljena studija o animiranom filmu kao umetnosti kroz koju se reflektuju druge umetnosti, nauke i vremena u kojima su određena dela nastajala i o kojima ta dela govore. Autorov pogled iznutra ne bio bio kompletan da se pojava/film koji/a se analizira ne stave/i u širi fenomenološki kontekst koji ne samo da je okvir ili prostor ispoljavanja umetničkog dela već je i provokacija njegove suštine. Oni su snažan, često impresivan analitički, informativni, faktografski ali i dramaturški temelj za dalje autorsko razmišljanje u kome će se fabula animiranih filmova preplitati sa opaskama i stručnim komentarima koji će rezultirati efektnim suštinskim zaključkom.”

Milen Alempijević je rođen 1965. godine u Čačku. Autor je desetak knjiga različitih žanrova iz oblasti beletristike. Poslednjih godina piše i članke o džezu, filmu i animaciji za dnevne listove i kulturnu periodiku. Priredio je dvobroj 183-184 časopisa za umetnost i kulturu Gradac posvećen džezu. Neki od eseja u ovoj knjizi predstavljeni su i u formi multimedijalnih predavanja na festivalima animacije: Balkanima (Novi Beograd, 2010), Animanima (Čačak, 2010), Animateka (Ljubljana, 2011). Milen radi u čačanskom Domu kulture na mestu urednika Filmskog i video programa i kao umetnički direktor međunarodnog festivala animacije Animanima.

THE ART OF EXAGGERATION Notes of a spectator Saturday /15.11.2014 / Conference Room / 17:00 THE ART OF EXAGGERATION has emergerd in an attempt to approach the aestethics and poetics of contemporary autre animated film – this limitless Panopticon of ideas and views – with an intention that its final outcome should be in the form of a book that lands itself to new or renewed watching experiences. Thematically, the book spans a range of topics – from the phenomenon of cities as the modern society’s most contradictory symbols, to coexistence of animals and humans, relationship between animated film and jazz as a musical idiom that revolutionarised the understanding of popular music, as well as potencial expressions of certain authors from the country and abroad, and a discourse on the role and function of a doll as a subject in the animated film narrative. Film critic Nebojsa Popovic says: “THE ART OF EXAGERATION is a serious, so-manytimes-lived-through, study of animated film as an art which reflects other forms of art, science and times which certain works belong to and tell us about. Author’s view from the inside would not be complete if the phenomenon/film which is analysed were not placed within a wider phenomenological context, which transcends the mere concept of a framework or an area where a work of art is expressed, to become a provocation of its very essence. These are powerful, very often impressive analytical, informative, factographic, but also dramaturgical foundation for further creative contemplation where the narrative of animated films interweaves with remarks and expert comments that will yield the effective essential conclusion.”

Milen Alempijević was born in Čačak, in 1965. He is the author of about a dozen of books of various genres of general fiction. Over the past few years, he has written a number of articles on jazz, film and animation, for daily newspapers and cultural magazines. He has edited the double edition (No. 183-184) of the art and culture magazine Gradac, dedicated to jazz. Some of the essays in this book were presented in the form of multimedia lectures at the animation festivals: Balkanima (Novi Beograd, 2010), Animanima (Čačak, 2010), Animateka (Ljubljana, 2011). Milen works at the Cultural Centre in Čačak as the Editor of the Film and Video Programme and the Art Director of the Animanima International Animation Festival.

ZOOMWOOZ je kombinacija bioskopskog izvođenja uživo (teško ga je precizno kategorisati, jer se napaja sadržajima različitih umetničkih disciplina, kao što su video uživo, igra senki, pozorište, kompjuterska animacija, ilustracije i strip, muzika, specijalni efekti...) koje odražava u suštini funkcionisanje ljudskog društva i sistema u njegovom okruženju. Video, predstava, muzika, kompjuteri, svetla, senke, crteži, likovi, siluete... sve ovo služi svrsi stvaranja virutelnog sveta koji iznenađujuće podseća na naš ljudski. Predstava koja bez prestanka koristi sve vrste elemenata – kompjutere, sintisajzere, osvetljenje i drugo... uz istovremeno uvođenje papirnih figura od rukom bojenih isečaka, pomalo detinjastog izgleda, koji vas spajaju sa realnim svetom, dok se stvarno i virtuelno mešaju u univerzumu koga stvaraju Karla Kraht i Andres Beladies.

Karla Kraht (umetničko ime Aleksandre Zicman) je video umetnik, ilustrator i animator. Nakon što je stekla obrazovanje u Nemačkoj, Španiji i Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu, živi i radi u Barseloni. U poslednje vreme svoj umetnički focus usmerava ka specifičnostima različitih aspekata vezanih za prostor i realno vreme instalacija ili predstava koje realizuje na svojim putovanjima i tokom boravka u Aziji, Južnoj Americi i Evropi.

Andres Beladies / Andrés Beladiez

Andres Beladies (Španija, 1966) je diplomirao na RESAD Fakultetu u Madridu, na odseku za pozorišnu režiju i dramaturgiju. U većini svojih predstava, integriše primenu tehnologije kao sredstva za scensku naraciju. Svoj umetnički rad dopunjuje aktivnostima kulturnog menadžmenta, radom u ulozi umetničkog konsultanta za festivale, kompanije i programske institucije. Nakon nekoliko manjih zajedničkih projekata, Karla and Andres su udružili snage i stvorili “zoomwooz”, koji je prikazan na mnogim festivalima, uključujući i festival “Nouveaux Cinema” u Montrealu / Arko Art Center, Soul / Incheon Art Platform, Južna Koreja / dferia, San Sebastian / Alhondiga Bilbao/ Festival Alt, Vigo / Festival A PART, Katowice / Tatwerk Berlin.

ZOOMWOOZ

Četvrtak / 13.11. 2014. / Velika sala / 20:00 ZOOMWOOZ is a live-cinema-performance (It is difficult to categorize it precisely, since it is nurtured from many artistic disciplines, such as live-video, shadow play, theatre, computeranimation, illustration and comic, music, special effects...) reflecting the functioning of human society and its surrounding systems. Video, performance, music, computers, lights, shadows, drawings, characters, silhouettes, etc.. all this serves for creating a virtual world that reminds in such a surprising way of the human. A performance that constantly uses all sorts of elements: computers, synthesisers, lights… and at the same time cutout and hand-painted paper figures, of a slightly childish appearance, that hook you to the real world. The real and the virtual mix up in an universe created by Karla Kracht & Andrés Beladiez.

Karla Kracht (artistic name of Alexandra Zitzmann) is video artist, illustrator and animation artist. Educated in Germany, Spain and the UK, she lives and works in Barcelona. Recently her artistic practice focuses on the site specific and real time aspects of an installation or performance, due to her travels and residencies in Asia, South America and Europe. Andrés Beladiez (Spain, 1966) graduated in stage direction and dramaturgy at RESAD, Madrid he incorporates the use of technology as a tool for the scenic narration in most of his plays. He complements his artistic work with cultural management, artistic advice for festivals, companies and programming structures. After several small collaborations, Karla and Andrés joined forces to create zoomwooz, which has been presented at Festival du Nouveaux Cinema, Montreal / Arko Art Center, Seoul / Incheon Art Platform, South Korea / dferia, San Sebastian / Alhondiga Bilbao / Festival Alt, Vigo / Festival A PART, Katowice / Tatwerk Berlin amongst others.

Ivan Stojković: STRIP, ILUSTRACIJA, ANIMACIJA Izložba Ivana Stojkovića predstavlja radove iz oblasti animacije, ilustracije i stripa, kao rezultat njegovog autorskog i komercijalnog rada u proteklih nekoliko godina. Radovi su predstavljeni u vidu štampanih predložaka, originalnih radova i projekcije, i uz gotovo svaki rad biće izložen i propratni materijal koji obuhvata skice, studije, probne radove, uzorke paleta, tekstura i sav ostali materijal koji je nastao u procesu rada. Na taj način izložba ne samo da predstavlja publici celokupan stvaralački proces i bolje upoznaje gledaoca sa prirodom profesije, već i prikazuje dve načina stvaranja: usredsređeni, kontrolisani, ciljni i prohtevima klijenta ograničeni, ali i spontani, nesputani, istraživački usmeren rad. Ivan Stojković je rođen 1988. Godine u Prokuplju. Završio je Srednju umetničku školu u Nišu na odseku za grafički dizajn. Studirao je grafički dizajn na Fakultetu primenjenih umetnosti u Nišu i animaciju na Fakultetu primenjenih umetnosti u Beogradu. Diplomirao je 2012. u klasi profesora Rastka Ćirića. Učestvovao je na grupnim izložbama širom zemlje, izlagao samostalno u KC Grad u Beogradu i bio učesnik festivala animacije u zemlji i inostranstvu (Balkanima, Beograd, 2011; Animateka, Ljubljana, 2011; Animafest, Zagreb, 2012; konkurencija za Int’l Children’s Film Festival, Njujork, 2013). Dobitnik je nekoliko nagrada iz oblasti stripa i animacije: Nagrada za najbolji alternativni strip, Internacionalni salon stripa, Beograd, 2009; Zoptik nagrada, Evropski festival animiranog filma, Balkanima, Beograd, 2011, Najbolji mladi strip crtač, Balkanska smotra strip autora, Leskovac, 2013, Plaketa „Branko Plavšić”, Međunarodna strip konferencija, Dom Omladine, Kragujevac, 2014. Trenutno živi i radi u Čačku.

Ivan Stojković: COMICS, ILLUSTRATIONS, ANIMATION The exhibition includes works in the area of animation, illustration and comic art, representing a result of the authors’ and commercial engagement over the past few years. The works are presented in the form of printing templates, original works and projections. Almost every work will be accompanied by the accessory material including sketches, studies, try-outs, samples of pallets, textures and other items used in the working process. In this way, the exhibition not only presents to the visitors the entire process of creation and raises the general awareness of the nature of the profession, but it also presents the two methods of creation: focused, controlled, goal-oriented and limited by the client’s requests, as well as the spontaneous, unrestricted, research-oriented work.

Ivan Stojković was born in Prokuplje in 1988. Having graduated from the High School of Art in Niš, Department of Graphic Design, he went on to study Graphic Design at the Facutly of Applied Arts in Niš and Animation at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. He graduated in 2012, in the class of Professor Rastko Ćirić. Ivan has participated in collectiove exhibitions around the country, and has also had independent exhibitions in the “Grad” Cultural Centre in Belgrade; he took part in animation festivals in the country and abroad (Balkanima 2011, Belgrade; Animateka 2011, Ljubljana; Animafest 2012, Zagreb; competition for the 2013 Int’l Children’s Film Festival in New York). The received awards in the field of comic strip and animation include the Award for the Best Alternative Comic Strip at the International Comic Strip Salon in Belgrade, 2009; the Zoptik award at the European Animated Film Festival ‘Balkanima’ in Belgrade, 2011; the Best Young Drawing Artist, awarded at the Balkan Review of Comic Strip Artists in Leskovac in 2013; the “Branko Plavšić” plaque, awarded at the International Comic Strip Conference at the Youth Centre in Kragujevac, 2014. Currently living and working in Čačak.

Vinćenco Đanola: CRTAJMO DIREKTNO NA FILM!

Cilj ovog tečaja jeste da učesnici savladaju teorijske aspekte stvaranja animacije, kroz izradu kolektivnog animiranog filma. Učesnici u radionici će koristiti tehniku direktnog crtanja na providnom filmu od 35 mm, pristup koji je Vinćenco Đanola imao priliku da istražuje i usavršava tokom više od 30 godina rada u ovoj oblasti. Ovom tehnikom je moguće postići izvanredne rezultate bez izlaganja astronomskim troškovima za opremu (kamera, “benč-šuting”, razvijanje fima i štampanje, itd.) i to – veoma brzo! Na papirnoj kopiji filma, učesnici izrađuju crteže koji će kasnije biti preneti na stvarnu filmsku traku, pomoću posebnih markera. Đanola je ovu tehniku izrade animiranog filma razvio tokom godina kolektivnog rada sa različitim vrstama korisnika: sa decom iz osnovnih i srednjih škola, sa studentima, nastavnicima iz različitih škola, članovima različitih socijalnih ustanova, nezaposlenim licima, starim licima, invalidima i drugima, i to u više gradova u Italiji i drugim zemljama, postigavši sjajne rezultate i izvanredno kolektivno angažovanje učesnika. Učesnici će crtati razne sekvence od jedne sekunde (25 kadrova) za izradu cikličnih pokreta (kao kod starih zootropa). Po završetku ovog dela izrade, ceo urađeni deo filma se skenira prolaskom kroz telekinoprojektor, i svaka sekvenca dobija zvučnu podlogu.

Vinćenco Đanola rođen je 1955. godine u Kazale Monferatu, a danas živi u Pećetu Torineze (Torino). Svoj prvi animirani film "Boogie" ostvario je 1981. godine i od tada radi kao instruktor animacije za decu, studente i nastavnike u javnim i privatnim školama, a isto tako i kao ilustrator i grafički umetnik, uz česta angažovanja u sferi reklamne umetnosti. Nekoliko puta je sarađivao sa Andreom Ledukom iz kanadskog Nacionalnog odbora za film, u okviru inicijative pod nazivom “Animacija”, koja omogućuje izradu animiranog filma u kratkom vremenu i uz pomoć osobe bez prethodnog iskustva u ovoj oblasti. Učestvovao je na Osmom Filmskom festivalu u Ankari 1997. godine kao član žirija za međunarodni takmičarski program animiranih filmova, zatim kao član žirija za animirane filmove na filmskom festivalu “Sottodiciotto Film Festival” održanom u Torinu 2004. godine, kao i na festivalu “Cinemambiente” u Torinu 2007. godine. Iako u izradi animacije koristi različite tehnike, konstantu u njegovom radu kao autora predstavlja istraživanje mogućnosti animacije bez kamere, izvođenjem crteža dirketno na filmu, kao i ispitivanje odnosa između slike i zvuka. Vinćenco je jedan od osnivača studija “La Lanterna Magica” iz Torina, za koji radi kao animator, mediator, pisac scenarija i crtač storiborda. Trenutno radi kao predavač i profesor u Nacionalnoj školi filma u Torinu.

Vincenzo Gioanola: LET US DRAW DIRECTLY ON FILM! The objective of this course is to learn the theories that underlie the animated film through making of a film collective. Workshop participants will use the technique of drawing directly on transparent 35 mm film, a technique that Vincenzo Gioanola had the opportunity to explore and refine for more than 30 years of experience in this field. With this technique one can get excellent results without exorbitant costs of equipment (camera, bench shooting, developing and printing film, etc), and - very quickly! On a paper copy of the film the participants will make the designs which will be later transferred on the actual film strip using the special marker pens. Gioanola developed this system of film making through years of collective work with different users: children of elementary and middle schools, high school students, teachers of different levels of social centers goers, unemployed, elderly, disabled, etc... in several Italian and foreign cities, getting great results and a great collective participation. Participants will draw different pieces of 1 second (25 frames) for the creation of cyclical movements (such as in ancient zoetropes). After that, the whole work on the film will be scanned through telecine, each loop will have its own soundtrack.

Vincenzo Gioanola, born in Casale Monferrato in 1955, living in Pecetto Torinese (Turin). He realized his first animated film “Boogie” in 1981. Since this period he has taught animation to children, students and teachers in public and private schools, worked as an illustrator, engraver, and in the sphere of advertising. He collaborated several times with André Leduc from the National Filmboard of Canada in "Animathon", an initiative that allows creating animated films within a short time with persons who never worked in this field. He participated at the 8th Ankara Film Festival 1997 as a member of the jury for the international animation competition, as a member of jury of the animation films in 2004 for the “Sottodiciotto Film Festival” in Turin and in 2007 for the “Cinemambiente” in Turin. He makes animation with different techniques, but a constant in his work as an author is research about the possibilities of cameraless animation drawing directly on the film and about the relationship between image and sound. He is one of the founders of the company “La Lanterna Magica” from Turin and has worked as an animator, inbetweener, scriptwriter and storyboarder. At present, he works as teacher and tutor for “Scuola Nazionale di Cinema”, in Turin.
