WORLD WATER DAY Dia MUNDIAL da auga 22nd march


On these days we transform the English classroom in a laboratory. Children had a scientist card. This card allowed them to make the experiments. Estos días transformamos a clase de inglés nun laboratorio. Os nenos/as tiñan un carnet de científico. Este carnet lles permitía facer os experimentos.


1.-We see the importance of water. We have to turn off the taps and watch out the toilet. Vemos a importancia da auga. Temos que cerrar ben as billas e vixiar as cisternas nos ba単os.


2.- Does it float or does it sink? How much weight can water support? Flota ou se afunde? Canto peso pode soportar a auga?



3.- An orange floats but if you peel it, then it sinks. Why? The peel has got air pockets. Unha laranxa flota pero si a pelas afunde. Por que? A monda ten cรกmaras de aire.


4.- An egg sinks in water but it floats in salty water. With the salt we change the density of water. Un ovo afunde na auga pero flota en auga salgada. Co sal cambiamos a densidade da auga.


5.- A piece of playdough in a ball sinks, but if you change its shape ( like a boat) it can float. Un trozo de plastilina afunde, pero si lle cambias a sĂşa forma (coma se fose un barco) flota.


6.- We put a drop of dye food in a glass of water. It spreads very slowly, don’t mix if you don’t stir it. The way it spreads is called diffusion. Se poñemos unha gota de colorante nun vaso de auga non se mistura se non o axitas. Ese fenómeno chámase difusión.


7.- Can water go up? Yes, it can. We experiment this with a piece of paper and a sugar cube. We see the absorbency of these materials. Pode a auga subir? Si. Experimentamos esto cun trozo de papel e cun cubi単o de azucre. Podemos ver a absorbencia destes materiais.



8.- How many drops of water do we need to sink a coin? We use a droplet and make the experiment. Cantas gotas de auga necesitamos para afundir unha moeda? Utilizamos un contagotas e fixemos o experimento.


9.- We made an iceberg and we see that it floats on the water. Fixemos un iceberg e poidemos ver que flota na auga.


10.- We played with water changing its colour. If we mixture yellow and blue we’ve got green, if we mixture red and yellow, we’ve got orange,… Xogamos coa auga cambiando a súa cor. Se misturamos amarelo e azul temos verde, se mesturamos vermello e amárelo temos laranxa,….


11.- We played with bubbles. All the children enjoyed a lot with the bubbles. Xogamos coas pompas de xab贸n. Todos os nenos/as divert铆ronse moito coas pompas.
