The original front cover was created by Rod Speidel and features a memorable photo by Jerry Smith of 2007 Bettendorf players celebrating their 21-16 victory over Ankeny in the Class 4A championship game. The win over Ankeny earned Bettendorf its seventh state title along with the 1981, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1992, and 2004 squads. As well, Bettendorf was also named the 1960 “Mythical Iowa State Champs” by the U.P.I. while also being the state runners up in 1980, 2000, and 2001, and 2011.
