UNIDAD 4: COMPUTERS. Session 1: Match the definitions and the pictures:

A disk is a piece of plastic that holds information for or from your computer.

Printer- A machine that puts things from the computer onto paper. Mouse- A piece of plastic that has a ball on the bottom and two buttons on the top. When you click on the mouse, you usually click on the left button. It allows you to click on and choose things on your screen.

C.D.-a round circle holds information for or from your computer.

Hard Drive-hard drives are machines that have alot of memory to save your work and carries a c.d.rom and a floppy disk

A keyboard is a tool that is used for typing like a typewriter.

Scanner- A piece of equipment that copies pictures so that you can use it in your computer projects

Monitors- a monitor is the screen on your computer that you look at when you are on the computer. Modem- A part of the computer that connects to the phone lines so that you can go on the Internet.

Speakers- The part of the computer that lets you hear the sounds from the programs. Chip- A small piece inside the computer that helps your computer work. Chips have to be programmed by people or they won't work. There are many chips in a computer.

CPU (Central Processing Unit)- A chip that is the "brains" of your computer that processes the information.


Session 2: Using computers safely:


Session 3: Read the following text: Internet Dangers for Children and Teenagers The Internet contains an infinite number of high-quality, interesting, and well-designed sites, and surfing on the Web is usually a source of entertainment and acquisition of knowledge. However, because there is no supervision, it is sometimes difficult to know when positive activity becomes dangerous and cause damage. It is important for you to know about the dangers on the Internet. Activity: Do you know how to be safe when you are online? Learn some rules with this matching game.


How to play: Here are five sentences. They are rules -they'll help you to be safe when you are on the computer. On the left are the beginnings of the sentences. On the right are the endings of the sentences. Can you match the right endings and beginnings?

Session 4: What kind of computer games do you like playing? Try this activity - can you put the words in the right places? How to play: There are eight sentences in this activity. There is a word missing in each sentence. There are eight words above the sentences. Can you put the words in the right gaps?


Now, let’s write five sentences about how to be safe when using the Internet and your computer.
