The class of 2017 will be remembered for their hard work, their dedication to the sport, service to their community, and contributions to the Robinson wrestling family. This group has been a part of 3 Conference Titles, 1 Northern Region title, and 1 State Championship(2014). Our staff, administration, and coaches salute the class of 2017 and wish them the best in their future endeavors.

-A Look at the 2017 Rams-

Wrestling Rankings 1/11/17

The #3 ranked Rams bring an undefeated record of 14-0 into tonight’s event. Dual meet victories have been typically been one sided and the Rams look to continue their winning ways as they march towards the post season in February. Last week the Rams downed two conference opponents in Oakton and Herndon by lopsided margins. Robinson grapplers bring a lot of momentum into tonight’s Conference 5 dual matchups coming off a solid weekend of wrestling in Pennsylvania at the Escape the Rock tournament where they competed against some of the nations best wrestlers. Robinson’s other dual successes came early part of the season defeating some local foes like the Highlanders of McLean and the Jaguars of Falls Church. In addition to local victories, the Rams also took home the team title at the Armed Forces Duals in Hagerstown, Maryland going 9-0 at the event.

The Rams individual lineup has balance with some seasoned veterans and some young guns. At 106lbs Junior Aaron Howell is ranked #1 in the Metro Area and is looking to build on his impressive 34-3 record. At 113 and 120 a pair of Juniors Sam Davis and Nik Gerard continue to improve and will face some tough competition tonight. Gerard leads the Rams with 19 Wins by fall this season and hopes for some more bonus points tonight. Returning 6A State Champ, UVA commit, and #1 ranked Sam Book is back at 126 and anchors a strong Rams lineup. Sam has over 60 takedowns thus far this season and will look to add a few more to his totals against some big conference rivals. At 132 and 138 the Rams have another pair of Juniors in O’Dell and Bybee and both will look to build upon previous successes as they head into tonight’s matchups. Tyler Hazard, the returning 6A State Runner up and Lehigh commit, is back at 145, and the future Mountainhawk has been soaring lately. At 152 and 170 the Rams enjoy some senior leadership with Tanner Uffleman and Donnie Warter; they combine for almost 40 wins on the season and look to help push the Rams past some conference foes this evening. Hayden Rockman is a sophomore stud who sat out the early part of the year, but is running on all cylinders now and hopes to improve upon his state qualifying freshman campaign with some pins tonight. At 182 and 195 the Rams have Will Merritt and Andre Turets- both are newcomers to the lineup this year and have stepped into their roles by winning some big matches along the way for a talented Rams squad. At 220 sophomore Thomas Mukai, ranked #3 by the Washington Post, is hungry to get to the post season this year after breaking his leg during training last year. Sophomores Alex Hazard rounds out the Rams line-up at heavyweight and look to notch some more wins tonight. Robinson will be tested tonight and looks forward to seeing some tough district competition on the mats. This is the final regular season competition for the Rams before they head into the postseason. Matches tonight will play a big role in Conference, Region, and State seeding so be sure to cheer for the Rams as they take to the mats.
