When I started writing my first show for AFT, I read about a woman named Lynn Frederick who was a fishing guide in Door County. As I started pondering the obstacles she might have faced, entering a mostly male-dominated profession, I envisioned this strong, independent woman who might have a nemesis in the form of a male fishing guide. The more I sketched at the initial ideas, the more I realized that Shakespeare had already written the story I wanted to tell - and so I took the general story of Much Ado About Nothing and started adapting it into Muskie Love. Shortly thereafter, I was happily connected with Paul Libman and we had a great time writing the show together. We are now working on our 7th musical, but Muskie Love still holds a place in our hearts as our first professional production and we are always delighted to revisit Ben, Bea, and the rest on the wonderful outdoor stage of AFT. - Dave Hudson
