President’s Column

A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

The Future Is Bright!

by Ryan Dunklau President of the Board, American Chianina Association

The cattle business has brought numerous challenges with it this summer. From drought in some parts of the country to high feed costs, many cattlemen struggle to push on. But our resilience is our greatest strength. We can and will overcome the largest of obstacles. That is simply the way in which we live our lives.

But enough of the gloom and doom - we also have a lot to be happy about. As is my belief, there is also a tremendous opportunity that awaits us this upcoming year. The higher cost of feed means more money in another sector of the Ag industry’s pockets. And what would be a better way to spend that influx than on a Chianina!

If you had the opportunity to join us in Oklahoma this summer, I want to say Thank You for supporting our breed. It was an impressive set of cattle exhibited by the best juniors in the country. Heather put on a first-class event once again and I am beyond excited to see what the girls come up with next year.

Our breed is set on a path to not only be successful in the ring but on the scale and plate as well. We are picking up steam and gaining the interest of many. I love seeing so many people excited about the Chianina breed. We have a staff who does an incredible job in all sectors of our breed. Their presence has impacted us greatly.

As the summer winds down and we move into fall, I look forward to watching our breed be successful in the show and sale ring. If you are at a state fair, catch the show. I think you will be impressed with what we have to exhibit. This fall when you are traveling around looking for your next project or just something to add to your herd, don’t be scared to raise your hand high. The quality of our breed runs deep. We would love to add you to the Chi team.
