We offer core subjects in all major areas of study and add specialized programs in the arts, culture, business, communica ons, health, manufacturing, agriculture, culinary arts and transporta on.
We take great pride in our English as a Second Language program, assessing each student to determine the level of ESL support they need. We teach them English in small classes of only 4-5 students. Interna onal Students are also supported individually by our Academic Coordinator, who works directly with schools and students to realize academic expecta ons.
Nestled in Canada’s Great Lakes Basin, Avon Maitland borders Lake Huron in the west and the City of Stra ord in the east, just 90 minutes southwest of Toronto. Our 9 High Schools and 31 Elementary Schools are spread across small towns and ci es ensuring a safe learning and cultural environment. We are recognized for our high academic standards and offer superior programs in music and drama, technology, business, math and science. Extra-curricular ac vi es are a significant part of student life and include high spirited athle cs in all of the major sports. Avon Maitland Schools are consistently top performing schools. Post Secondary Partners We have strong partnerships with many post secondary ins tu ons across the district. Among our partners is the University of Waterloo, which has a campus located in the city of Stra ord. There we have a program called “School Within A University”, where local high school students take advance courses. We also partner with three of the top colleges in the region, Fanshawe, Lambton and Conestoga. These ins tua ons offer what is called “Dual Credit” programs where students earn a college and high school credits at the same me.

Summer Program AMDSB offers custom summer program for groups of 10 or more. We offer 2, 3 or 4 week adventures that focus on English Immersion in an atmosphere of themed classroom sessions along with homestay arrangements and a solid mix of social and cultural excursions.

You’re in Good Hands Avon Maitland Schools Canada provides professional homestay services for its interna onal students. Our Homestay staff take are dedicated d to ensuring that our Canadian host families are caring, suppor ve and provide a safe home environment. The goal for our staff is to find a “home away from home” for our interna onal guests. Our host families are carefully selected so that interna onal students can improve their English skills and immerse themselves in Canadian life and culture.

Baseball Academy
iCASE, the Interna onal Canadian Academy of Sports Excellence, represents a first for the Province of Ontario. It is the first Academy to combine rigorous baseball training with a full me academic educa on for high school students in grades 11 and 12. It is an opportunity for baseball players to develop their skills in an academic environment, led by a staff of world renowned coaches. At iCASE baseball training is part of the daily curriculum. This allows our student-athletes to lead a more balanced life and par cipate in other extra-curricular ac vi es or simply enjoy me with their friends. On the field and in the classroom, the iCASE program grooms each studentathlete based on their individual stage of development. iCASE makes its home in Stra ord, a charming Victorian city nestled in a pastoral countryside just 90 minutes from Toronto and a couple of hours from major U.S. ci es.
