Anna Crusis WOmen’s Choir ANNA Crusis Women’s Choir (ANNA) For more than 40 years, the singers of Philadelphia’s own Anna Crusis Women’s Choir have acted as agents of social change by empowering and uplifting audiences with inspirational music that transforms. A premier performing arts group founded in 1975, ANNA’s mission has grown from providing a safe space for women from all walks of life to sing together, to supporting and promoting social justice for all. Under the direction of Miriam Davidson, the 80+ strong group sheds light on issues facing immigrants and refugees, young people, women, the LGBTQ+ community, and others. ANNA has performed at numerous venues in Philadelphia and New York City, such as the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Annenberg Center, World Café Live, the United Nations, and Carnegie Hall. We are honored to have been invited to participate in the International Festival of Choirs to be held in Santiago de Cuba this coming October/November 2019. ANNA has also sung with artists including Dr. Ysaye Barnwell (Sweet Honey In the Rock), Demi Lovato, Holly Near, Melanie DeMore, Sharon Katz and the Peace Train, and a host of others. For more information visit www.annacrusis.org.

Miriam Davidson, Artistic Director Miriam Davidson has been Artistic Director of ANNA Crusis Women’s Choir since 2012. She is proud of this thoughtful and passionate choir more than she can say. A multi-instrumentalist/vocalist, singer-songwriter, author, recording artist as well as choral director, she joined synagogue choir rehearsals with mom and dad at age five. She attended Tyler School of Art @ Temple University and Petrie School of Music. As a performer she has toured extensively throughout the US, garnered many awards from both the Folk and LGBTQ communities and has recorded and coproduced eight CDs, several of which have won national awards. She overcame her own performance angst by learning accordion and banjo and playing them both in public. For the past eight summers, she has led a pick-up choir of seventy people at a Unitarian Universalist summer institute, who, after four short rehearsals, sing their hearts out to a standing ovation crowd. She has directed the Festival Choir at the National Women’s Music Festival, is Music Director at the Unitarian Congregation of West Chester, and Makhelat Micha’el Community Choir at Mishkan Shalom. She is married to Kim Singleton (their ceremony was on the rooftop of the Atlantic Sands Hotel in Rehoboth, DE during the Sea Witch Festival) and together, they homestead in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
