‫بين الجذور األصيلة والبذور الهجينة!‬ ‫فواز شوك‬ ‫مييل املرء بطبعه وفطرته السليمة إىل‬ ‫منارصة القضايا العادلة‪ ،‬والوقوف يف‬ ‫وجه الظلم ورفض كل عمل يتناقض‬ ‫مع الطبيعة البرشية من قتل ومجازر وابادة‬ ‫وتهجري وسفك للدماء وإفساد يف االرض وإهالك‬ ‫للحرث والنسل‪ ،‬هذا امليل نشاهده من خالل هذا‬ ‫الحراك العاملي الضخم ضد ما تقوم به ارسائيل‬ ‫من جرائم ضد االنسانية يف غزة‪ ،‬حراك يُواجه من‬ ‫قبل قادة العامل بالصمت حي ًنا وبالسوط أحيانًا من‬ ‫خالل قيود وقرارات واجراءات تهدف إىل التضييق‬ ‫عليه وأضعافه‪.‬‬ ‫هذا االنقسام العمودي بني الشعوب من جهة‬ ‫وقادة الدول من جهة أخرى‪ ،‬بني مواطنني‬ ‫رشفاء استف ّزتهم مشاهد القتل والدماء واستنفرتم‬ ‫فطرتهم السليمة وبني قادة وسياسيني تحركهم‬ ‫املصالح وتتحكم مبواقفهم األهواء والنزوات‪ ،‬يرسم‬ ‫لنا اإلشكالية واملعضلة الكربى التي يعاين منها‬ ‫عاملنا وهي‪:‬‬ ‫ أن أغلبية من ميلكون الضمري ال ميلكون‬‫القرار‬ ‫ وأغلبية من ميلكون القرار ال ميلكون‬‫الضمري!‬ ‫لسنا بصدد مناقشة مواقف أصحاب القرار يف‬ ‫عاملنا العريب واإلسالمي ألن مواقف معظمهم‬ ‫ميكن أن نخترصها بأربع كلامت (خضوع للغرب‬ ‫وخداع للشعوب)!‬ ‫أما مواقف أصحاب القرار يف دول الغرب‪ ،‬من‬ ‫العدوان االرسائييل عىل الشعب الفلسطيني يف‬ ‫غزة فقد تراوحت بني مشارك وداعم ومتواطئ‬ ‫وصامت‪ ،‬مع بعض االستثناءات يف بعض املواقف‬ ‫وخاصة مواقف حكومات إسبانيا وبلجيكا الرافضة‬ ‫للعدوان واملطالبة بوقف فوري إلطالق النار‪.‬‬

‫الحريات رهينة املصالح‬

‫الحريات التي تتغنى بها الحكومات الغربية‬ ‫رَضبت يف صميمها وحوربت يف جوهرها‬ ‫َ‬ ‫وكشفت مدى التناقض بني الشعارات والواقع‪،‬‬ ‫ومدى تناقض مواقف أهل السياسة مع مواقف‬ ‫املواطنني االحرار الذي مارسوا حرية التعبري بكل‬ ‫جرأة وصدق ونبل‪ ،‬فليس لدى هؤالء مصالح‬ ‫يخافون عليها أو لويب يضغط عليهم أو احزاب‬ ‫تحركهم أو منظامت ترسم سياستهم أو أموال‬ ‫ورشكات تتحكم مبواقفهم‪ ،‬وامنا يتحركون مبا‬ ‫ميليه عليهم ضمريهم‪ ،‬مسلحني بالوعي وبفهم‬

‫ما يجري‪ ،‬عىل النقيض من القادة والسياسيني‬ ‫الذي تحركهم املصالح وتؤثر عليهم مجموعات‬ ‫الضغط وترعبهم وسائل اإلعالم وتقيدهم األموال‪،‬‬ ‫فأقىص ما ميكن أن يصل اليه هؤالء من مواقف‬ ‫استعراضية عندما يتعلق األمر بجرائم االرسائييل‬ ‫الفظيعة ضد اإلنسان يف غزة وضد القوانني‬ ‫الدولية هو (الشعور بالقلق) و(الشعور باألسف)!‬ ‫ورغم هزالة هذه املواقف وسخافتها فهي مل تأت‬ ‫عن قناعة وامنا بدافع الدعاية واملصلحة ومحاولة‬ ‫إلرضاء وخداع الرأي العام الداخيل والخارجي‪ ،‬أما‬ ‫(اإلدانة) إلرسائيل من قبلهم فهي خارج قاموس‬ ‫مصطلحاتهم السياسية والدبلوماسية مثلها مثل‬ ‫مصطلحات (االخالق والضمري والعدل والحرية‬ ‫والصدق وغريها)‪.‬‬

‫تقييد حرية التعبري‬

‫حاولت عدة دول غربية ومن بينها فرنسا وأملانيا‬ ‫منع أي نوع من أنواع التضامن مع أهل غزة‪،‬‬ ‫من خالل محاولة ربط أي حراك شعبي بقضية‬ ‫مساندة اإلرهاب أو مبعادات السامية أو اتهامها‬ ‫بإثارة املشاكل ومامرسة العنف والتسبب بانقسام يف‬ ‫املجتمع‪.‬‬ ‫حيث يواجه املتضامنون مع الفلسطينيني يف‬ ‫الغرب‪ ،‬الكثري من الرتهيب ومن االجراءات املقيدة‬ ‫لحرية التعبري‪ .‬حتى وصل األمر يف بعض الدول‬ ‫مثل فرنسا إىل حظر املظاهرات املتضامنة مع‬ ‫فلسطني واملنددة بإرسائيل‪ ،‬عىل الرغم من السامح‬ ‫مبظاهرات مؤيدة إلرسائيل يف بداية الحرب!‬ ‫وزادت هذه القيود حول اعناق املتضامنني مع‬ ‫فلسطني من خالل اعتقال املتظاهرين الذين‬ ‫يضعون الكوفية الفلسطينية حول اعناقهم‬ ‫ويحملون األعالم الفلسطينية اضافة إىل فرض‬ ‫غرامة عليهم‪ ،‬حيث منعت املانيا رسم ًيا ارتداء‬ ‫الكوفية الفلسطينية يف املدارس إضافة إىل منع‬ ‫رفع األعالم والشعارات وامللصقات بحجة انها تهدد‬ ‫السالم‪ ،‬مع ان ارتداء التالميذ للكوفية جاء من‬ ‫أجل السالم ومن أجل وقف إطالق النار ووقف‬ ‫حرب اإلبادة ضد أهل غزة واملطالبة بإنفاذ أطفال‬ ‫غزة‪ ،‬فالكوفية بنظر التالميذ واملتضامني هي رمز‬ ‫إنساين قبل أن تكون رمزاً سياسياً‪.‬‬ ‫أما يف الواليات املتحدة فقد وصلت سياسة‬ ‫الرتهيب إىل الجامعات األمريكية‪ ،‬فلم يسلم منها‬ ‫الطالب وال رؤوساء الجامعات‪ ،‬حيث قدمت رئيسة‬ ‫جامعة هارفارد استقالتها بعد حملة رشسة ضدها‬

‫شارك فيها كبار صناع القرار يف امريكا‪.‬‬ ‫ومل تكن األمور يف أسرتاليا أفضل ً‬ ‫حااًل من غريها‪،‬‬ ‫فقد حاول بعض السياسيون وبعض وسائل اإلعالم‬ ‫تشويه صورة الحراك امللفت واملميز الذي قام به‬ ‫تالميذ املدارس والذي متثل مبظاهرات منددة‬ ‫بالعدوان عىل غزة‪ ،‬هذا الحراك الذي مل يعجب‬ ‫البعض رغم عفويته والذي كان عىل درجة عالية‬ ‫من الوعي والرقي‪ ،‬مل يكن ليحدث لو قام هؤالء‬ ‫السياسيون بدورهم عىل الوجه الصحيح ولو قامت‬ ‫وسائل اإلعالم بدورها اإلنساين وحافظت عىل‬ ‫مهنيتها‪ .‬لقد قام التالميذ مبا عجز عنه الكبار‪.‬‬

‫قمع الحريات داخل وسائل اإلعالم‬

‫سياسة تكميم األفواه وتقييد األقالم وإسكات‬ ‫األصوات الذي مارسته بعض وسائل اإلعالم‬ ‫الغربية عىل بعض موظفيها املتضامنني مع‬ ‫فلسطني وصل إىل حد وضع القيود ومامرسة‬ ‫الضغوط عليهم حيث تم طرد بعضهم من عملهم‬ ‫أو إجبارهم عىل االستقالة‪ ،‬مثلام حصل مع رسام‬ ‫الكاريكاتري "ستيف بيل" الذي كان يعمل مع "ذا‬ ‫غارديان" الربيطانية بعد قيامه برسم كاريكاتري‬ ‫لرئيس الوزراء اإلرسائييل بنيامني نتنياهو والذي‬ ‫اعترب أنّه "معاد للسامية"‪ ،‬والذي مل تشفع له ‪40‬‬ ‫سنة من العمل يف الصحيفة‪.‬‬ ‫كام مارست بعض وسائل االعالم الغربية الرتهيب‬ ‫ضد ضيوفها املتضامنني مع أهل غزة من خالل‬ ‫محاولة فرض اجوبة عليهم تناقض الحقائق‬ ‫والوقائع عىل االرض‪.‬‬ ‫لقد أعادت الدماء الزكية يف غزة الحياة إىل‬ ‫"جذور الفطرة االنسانية السليمة واألصيلة" يف‬ ‫الغرب‪ ،‬والشبيهة بجذور الشعب الفلسطيني االصيل‬ ‫يف أرضه‪ ،‬هذه الجذور شاهدناها تتحرك وتتمدد‬ ‫وتنمو عىل شكل وقفات ومظاهرات واعتصامات‬ ‫وتحركات وندوات يف معظم مدن وعواصم الغرب‪.‬‬ ‫تتصارع مع البذور الهجينة التي لوثت تربتها‬ ‫املصالح ودنّستها النزوات والسياسات الكاذبة التي‬ ‫حولت شعار حقوق االنسان إىل (عقوق االنسان)!‬ ‫كل عام واالنسانية بخري!‬

REMOTE WORK, REDUCED PAY: ARE WE WILLING TO MAKE A TRADE? The COVID-19 pandemic continues to reshape the workforce, with almost half of Australian workers willing to sacrifice part of their annual salary to work from home. New research by the University of South Australia has found that 45% of workers would be willing to accept a pay cut in exchange for remote work flexibility. A survey of more than 1100 Australian workers in 2020-21 found that the average worker, who can

carry out their role effectively at home, is willing to give up $3000 to $6000 in annual wages (4 to 8% of their salary). One fifth of participants would be willing to sacrifice $12 to $24,000 annually (16 to 33% of salaries). However, more than half (55%) of the participants indicated they would be unwilling to give up a portion of their wages to work from home and either see no benefit to productivity or wellbeing or have various concerns with remote

working. Lead researcher Associate Professor Akshay Vij says it’s clear more research is needed to understand employee preferences for remote and flexible work arrangements, given the variability in attitudes and expectations. “We found that attitudes towards the impacts of remote working on human relationships and interactions were a significant predictor of these differences. For example, workers who didn’t place a positive

value on remote working are more concerned about their relationship with colleagues and their supervisors, as well as missing out on opportunities for learning and career advancement,” he says. It was interesting to find that these concerns were raised more often by workers who had more experience with remote working before the pandemic. Workers who had less experience with remote working arrangements were more positive about working from home.”

BETTER BUSES NEEDED FOR MELBOURNE’S WEST LeadWest LeadWest has welcomed Infrastructure Victoria’s call for a major overhaul of the state’s bus network and urged State Government to prioritise Melbourne’s west. Buses can provide fast, frequent and direct public transport services for Melburnians, especially in outer suburbs and new growth areas that are not currently served well by public transport.

The benefits from transforming Melbourne’s bus network are comparable to any one of Victoria’s big road and rail projects – and at much less cost. We welcome the extensive modelling and research undertaken by Infrastructure Victoria on how to achieve a faster, frequent and fairer bus network to better connect Melbourne. LeadWest supports all 10 recommendations by Infrastructure Victoria in its report on the bus

network. Simple changes to existing bus services, such as extending operating hours to match passenger demand and improving the integration of timetables, can make significant improvements to bus services. LeadWest urges the State Government to prioritise the delivery of new bus rapid transit services identified in the report that would serve Melbourne’s west including the Tarneit-Maribyrnong, MeltonBroadmeadows and Point Cook-

Watergardens routes. These routes were projected to be the three most used out of ten corridors identified. We also call for the Victorian Government to address the chronic undersupply of public transport in existing growth areas and ensure timely provision of bus services for future communities through a longterm growth funding program for Melbourne’s buses.

If you live in an area where unemployment is common even among academically successful young adults, this article is for you. Gone are the days when gaining a degree at a reputable college or university guarantees a coveted job that leads to financial security. Like it or not, we must raise our children for a world of uncertainties.

Teach Financial Literacy Introduce basic financial concepts early on, such as saving, budgeting, and the importance of understanding interest. Explain how credit works and the potential consequences of debt. Needs vs. Wants: Explain the difference between things they need (essential for survival) and things they want (nice to have but not necessary).

Encourage Saving Help children set up savings accounts and teach them the habit of saving a portion of any money they receive. Discuss short-term and long-term savings goals. Example: Choosing to buy a good second-hand laptop (short-term goal) instead of a new one, to save more for down-payment for a house (longterm goal).

Develop Budgeting Skills Show your children how you budget the family income. Some parents opt to teach budgeting by giving children a small regular allowance. Help them allocate money for different purposes, including saving and spending. Be sure to factor in

zakat (economic contribution among Muslims) and sadaqah (charity) as a long-term investment.

Promote Entrepreneurial Thinking It could be in the form of starting a small business, like selling handmade crafts online. Becoming an entrepreneur demands discipline and the courage to try new things. Foster an entrepreneurial spirit by encouraging creativity and problemsolving. Such a mindset can empower children to identify opportunities, take initiative and explore innovative solutions.

Educate about Investments As children get older, introduce the concept of investments. Discuss stocks, bonds, and real estate, and explain the potential risks and rewards.

Provide Work Experience Encourage part-time jobs or internships during high school or college to give them a taste of the working world and build a work ethic. Volunteering is an excellent choice.

What can parents do to coach children to be financially secure in a world that is increasingly full of unemployment? Preparing children to be financially secure in a world with potential unemployment challenges requires a combination of practical skills, financial literacy, and a mindset that fosters adaptability. Here are some tips for parents:

Focus on Education Emphasize the importance of education and continuous learning. A well-rounded education can make individuals more adaptable and marketable.

Cultivate Soft Skills Develop interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work well with others and communicate effectively is valuable in any profession.

Instill a Strong Work Ethic Teach the value of hard work and perseverance. This mindset can help them overcome challenges and setbacks.

Encourage Critical Thinking Foster problem-solving and critical thinking skills. The ability to adapt to new situations and think creatively is crucial in a rapidly changing job market.

Lead by Example Demonstrate responsible financial behaviour. Children often learn by observing their parents, so modelling good financial habits are essential.

Explore Different Career Paths Help your children explore various career paths which will lead to different potential earnings. Encourage them to pursue their interests and passions while being aware of the market demand for certain skills. More than ever, young adults must believe in themselves, be adaptable, able to make good decisions, and remain hopeful and optimistic come what may. Every responsible parent dreams of raising financially secure children. Financial security is about earning enough money and managing it wisely. By cultivating practical skills with a positive and adaptable mindset, parents can better prepare their children for a financially secure future, even in the face of potential unemployment challenges. Planning for retirement is better done sooner than later. Children must learn how to make their money work for them, such that they become financially free as soon and as early as possible.

‫وتشديد شروط تأشيرات الطالب‬ ‫أعلنت أستراليا‬ ‫عن نيتها تشديد‬ ‫قــــواعــــد مــنــح‬ ‫التأشيرات للطالب الدوليين‬ ‫والــعــمــال ذوي الــمــهــارات‬ ‫المنخفضة‪ ،‬مما قد يؤدي إلى‬ ‫تقليص نصف عدد المهاجرين‬ ‫الــذيــن ستستقبلهم خالل‬ ‫العامين المقبلين‪.‬‬ ‫ويأتي هذا في إطار جهود‬ ‫ـف‬ ‫الحكومة إلصــاح ما ُو ِصـ َ‬ ‫بأنه نظام هجرة “معطوب”‪.‬‬ ‫وفقًا للسياسات الجديدة‪،‬‬ ‫سيصبح من الــضــروري أن‬ ‫يحصل الطالب الدوليون على‬ ‫درجــات أعلى في اختبارات‬ ‫اللغة اإلنجليزية‪ .‬كما سيتم‬ ‫تعزيز عمليات التدقيق عند‬ ‫تقديم أي طالب لطلب تأشيرة‬ ‫تمديد لفترة إقامته‪.‬‬ ‫وأفــــادت وزيـــرة الــشــؤون‬ ‫الداخلية كلير أونــيــل في‬ ‫تــصــريــح صــحــفــي بــأن‬ ‫“إستراتيجيتنا ستعيد أعداد‬ ‫المهاجرين إلى طبيعتها”‪.‬‬ ‫وأضــافــت‪“ :‬إن األمـــور ال‬ ‫تقتصر على األعــداد فقط‪،‬‬ ‫وليس على اللحظة الحالية‬ ‫وتجربة الهجرة التي تخوضها‬

‫بالدنا في الوقت الحالي‪ .‬بل‬ ‫تتعلق هذه الخطوة بمستقبل‬ ‫أستراليا”‪.‬‬ ‫وأعلن رئيس الوزراء أنتوني‬ ‫ألبانيزي أن عدد المهاجرين‬ ‫في أستراليا يحتاج إلى العودة‬ ‫إلى “مستوى مستدام”‪ ،‬مشير ًا‬ ‫إلــى أن “النظام في حالة‬ ‫تلف”‪.‬‬ ‫يأتي هذا القرار بعد توقعات‬ ‫بأن يصل صافي الهجرة إلى‬ ‫ذروتــه عند مستوى قياسي‬ ‫يبلغ ‪ 510‬آالف في الفترة‬ ‫من ‪ 2022‬إلى ‪ .2023‬وتشير‬ ‫البيانات الرسمية إلى توقع‬ ‫انخفاض هــذا الــعــدد إلى‬ ‫حوالي ‪ 250‬ألفا في الفترتين‬ ‫‪ 2025-2024‬و‪،2026-2025‬‬ ‫ما يقارب مستويات ما قبل‬ ‫جائحة كوفيد‪.-19‬‬ ‫وأوضحت أونيل أن ارتفاع‬ ‫صافي الهجرة إلى الخارج‬ ‫في ‪ 2023-2022‬كان بشكل‬ ‫رئيسي نتيجة لوجود الطالب‬ ‫الدوليين‪.‬‬ ‫وفي العام الماضي‪ ،‬رفعت‬ ‫أستراليا عــدد المهاجرين‬ ‫الــســنــويــيــن‪ ،‬وذلـــك لدعم‬ ‫الشركات الكبيرة في توظيف‬

The ongoing Genocide in Gaza has intensified emotions globally, particularly as distressing images of innocent children and infants emerge from the region. Among these harrowing scenes is that of a distraught father sifting through the debris of his home, desperately seeking his four children. It is profoundly troubling that international governments allowed over 40 days of relentless violence and bombardment before establishing a ceasefire. Regrettably, this ceasefire proved short-lived, with

the tragic loss of innocent lives continuing unabated. This extended delay in achieving peace, coupled with apparent indifference to the loss of innocent lives, highlights more than just a war in Gaza; it exposes a clash of core values. Such circumstances demand introspection, urging individuals and nations alike to define their positions clearly: Are they champions of the oppressed or allies of the oppressors? Upholding principles of integrity and justice demands unwavering dedication to truth, transcending religious or ethnic considerations of the affected parties. As we navigate these challenging times, Gaza is now a region filled with pain, distress, and unimaginable atrocities. Amidst the turmoil, Gaza remains a testament to enduring pain, suffering, and egregious human rights violations. Anyone who went through such a tormenting experience would have been bitter and scarred by

the experience. Yet, amid these adversities, many Palestinians maintain a profound resilience, often expressing gratitude and faith. Their steadfastness finds resonance in the following verses: “We shall certainly try you with a certain measure of fear and hunger, and with diminution of wealth, lives, and crops. But give glad tidings to those who remain patient in adversity. When a calamity befalls them, they say, ‘To God we belong, and to Him we shall return’” (Qur’an 2:155-156).

Reflecting upon the Palestinians unwavering

The crucible of adversity challenges individuals to uphold truth, transcending circumstances ranging from fear and deprivation to the ultimate sacrifice. When confronted with unbearable pressures, Palestinians turn to no other source for solace and assistance but God Almighty. Their faith is unshakable because it is not conditional on the result, but rather their faith is based on satisfaction with everything that comes from God. They teach us here to have unconditioned profound faith and that God has sovereignty and absolute dominion over every facet of their existence in this world. Their example illuminates the essence of unwavering faith, emphasising the omnipotence and dominion of the Divine over every facet of earthly existence.

2. The Price of Principles:

Palestinians, unwavering in their convictions, bear a substantial cost — the ultimate sacrifice of life. These sacrifices underscore their profound allegiance to their cause. Whether rooted in the defense of their homeland or the love for their faith, such sacrifices beckon others to recognise and honour truth amidst evolving contexts.

May the endurance of Palestinians be met with God’s mercy and blessings, a reward surpassing any material gain.

AUSTRALIA TO BUILD WORLD’S LARGEST SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST REGISTRY Australian scientists will build the world’s largestever registry of sudden cardiac arrest deaths in a major bid to solve one of the most elusive and frightening mysteries of cardiovascular disease. Starting with Victoria, the work, supported by the Heart Foundation and led by Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute’s Dr Elizabeth Paratz, will combine and examine cardiac arrest data from two large and existing databases. The new super-registry, named CODEX-SD which links ambulance and forensic data, will for the first time give researchers their closest look yet at what causes sudden cardiac arrests and what might be done to stop them. The database will provide a single place to record the nation’s data on cardiac arrests to also help researchers to examine rare conditions, identify trends and better understand the cardiac experiences of under-represented populations. Dr Paratz said CODEX-SD will help researchers pinpoint what further work needs to be done to unlock the genetic mysteries that have made

sudden cardiac arrest a leading cause of death for people aged 50 and under in Australia. A cardiac arrest occurs when a person’s heart suddenly stops pumping blood effectively around the body and can strike anywhere, anytime, and is often fatal without immediate and appropriate intervention from bystanders. Each year in Australia, 25,000 people experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrests, and in about 30 to 40 per cent of cases, doctors cannot explain what caused it. “There’s very few other conditions like that, where at the end of extensive investigations we go back to the family and say there’s no clear reason why this tragic event has happened,” Dr Paratz said. “This lack of closure makes it incredibly difficult for families, but also with a lack of knowing who else might be at risk in the family adds another layer of distress. “90 percent of people who suffer a sudden cardiac arrest die, so if we can make inroads on that statistic – and we need to do so – one benefit, and the most important one, is that we have a better chance of keeping families together,” she said.

VICTORIANS POCKET $2.1 MILLION IN CONTAINER REFUNDS IN TWO WEEKS Support for Victoria’s new container deposit scheme (CDS Vic) has showed no signs of slowing in its second week, with more than 21 million containers now returned by Victorians. In week two of the scheme, 11.1 million containers were returned across the state, eclipsing the 10.2 million returned in week one. The Exchange Depot in Mildura reigns as Victoria’s best performing return point, having processed more than 950,000 containers since CDS Vic officially opened on 1 November. Jim Round, CEO of scheme co-ordinator VicReturn, said Victorians had shown incredible support for the scheme from day one. “It is fantastic people have welcomed Victoria’s new Container Deposit Scheme with such enthusiasm, returning 21.3 million containers since the scheme began.” “That’s more than $2.1 million directly back in the pockets of Victorians in two weeks.” Monday, 6 November has been the biggest day for returns so far, with more than 2 million containers returned on that day alone. It was closely followed by Saturday, 11 November, with 1.91 million returns and Saturday, 4 November with 1.85 million returns. Aluminium cans continue to comprise more than half of all container returns, while PET plastic containers make up nearly a third, and glass about 15 per cent.

CDS Vic is designed to capture containers consumed “on-the-go” – containers that are most often discarded in streets, parks and on beaches and frequently end up in waterways. Mr Round said this summer, Victorians had more options than ever to recycle. There are four types of refund points - reverse vending machines, depots, over-the-counter sites, and pop-ups. “The mix of refund points makes it easier than ever for Victorians to recycle containers, to keep them from ending up in landfill,” Mr Round said. “VicReturn is working proactively with the three zone operators to ensure that when fully rolled out, Victoria will have the most convenient and accessible scheme in Australia.” CDS Vic is overseen by VicReturn, as the Scheme Co-ordinator, and delivered by three zone operators – TOMRA Cleanaway in Victoria’s western region, Visy in the north, and Return-It in the east. Victorians can opt to keep their refund in the form of cash, a retail voucher, or an electronic refund, or donate it to a charity or community organisation registered with the scheme. So far, approximately half of all refunds have been collected in the form of a retail voucher. Anti-Semitism has been a feature of European society for centuries. Jewish thinkers in the nineteenth century debated what course of action could be taken to deal with it. Assimilation, reduced religiosity, strict orthodox adherence were all considered. A tiny minority saw nationalism as the answer. Theodor Herzl, the father of Zionism, lacked interest in Judaism or Jewish culture but was acutely aware of the hatred towards Jews. In his 1896 pamphlet The Jewish State, Herzl envisions the Jewish homeland as ‘a rampart of Europe against Asia, an outpost of civilisation as opposed to barbarism’ In 1897 he convened the First Zionist Congress in Basel and established the World Zionist Organization (WZO). Palestine was decided upon as Eretz Israel. The Zionist movement, even before the British mandate changed into Israel, wanted the maximum amount of land and the minimum number of Arabs. The Zionist leader Leo Motzkin stated: “Our thought is that the colonisation of Palestine has to go in two directions: Jewish settlement in Eretz Israel and the resettlement of the Arabs of Eretz Israel in areas outside the country.” [6 June 2023 History Today Vol.73]

Herzl was aware that this homeland meant colonisation of an existing population. Rima Najjar formerly of Al-Quds University, reported that in 1902 he wrote to Cecil Rhodes, a white supremacist imperialist, requesting support for the project. “It doesn’t involve Africa, but a piece of Asia Minor, not Englishmen but Jews… How, then, do I happen to turn to you since this is an out-of-the-way matter for you? How indeed? Because it is something colonial,” Herzl wrote. “I want you to… put the stamp of your authority on the Zionist plan.” Herzl did not see his utopian dream as a religiously intolerant state. On Avoiding Theocracy in a Jewish State he writes : “Shall we end by having a theocracy? No, indeed. Faith unites us, knowledge gives us freedom. We shall therefore prevent any theocratic tendencies from coming to the fore on the part of our priesthood.” [c.1900] Yoav Litvin an IsraeliAmerican doctor of psychology/neuroscience, in an opinion piece for Al Jazeera, denounced the concept. “Zionism is a racist and settler colonialist movement, which opportunistically coopts aspects of Judaism in an attempt to justify its criminal practices of apartheid and genocide of indigenous Palestinians. White supremacy is dominant within Israeli society, which privileges white-skinned Ashkenazi Jews at the expense of dark-skinned African Jews, Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews as well as African refugees. African/black Jewish communities are often denied recognition by

Israeli authorities with some members even deported.” [9 January 2019 Al Jazeera] The Israeli state has become a nightmare compared to the inclusive Utopia described by Herzl. Experimenting in the Occupied Territories Just as the new fascist states in the 1930s used the Spanish Civil War to test weapons and techniques, including on Guernica, Israel appears to be using strange weapons and over the top big bombs on the civilian population of Gaza. Dump bombs, unguided and used to flatten buildings, make up about half of the bombs used. US bunker buster bombs, designed to blow up caves in Afghanistan or tunnels in Gaza, are being employed in built up civilian areas. Use of white phosphorus bombs amongst civilians is occurring according to Human Rights Watch. Some unidentified burning weapon is also being used. “Dr Ahmed Mokhallalati (Al Shifa Hospital) said these weren’t phosphorus burns, “but a combination of some kind of incendiary bomb wave and other components”, feeding into claims that Israel also uses war to test unknown weapons.” [29 December 2023 Al Jazeera]

The Palestinian Laboratory Antony Loewenstein in “The Palestinian Laboratory,” has exposed the brutal face of the Israeli state and its

exploitation of the Occupied Territories. He quotes Halper, author of “War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians and Global Pacification,” who explains that the occupation of Palestine is no financial burden but is in fact “… an invaluable testing ground for new equipment on behalf of a global military hegemon serving other militaries across the globe. The arms and security industry is central to Israel’s economic development. Surveillance technology, including smart phone penetration, is a major earner. The Pegasus technology, developed to spy on Palestinians, has been used enthusiastically by the Modi Hindu extremist regime. Israeli drones, equipped to monitor Palestinians and African refugees, allow the EU to monitor the Mediterranean without being caught up in rescuer missions. The border surveillance industrial complex was estimated to be worth around US$68 billion by 2025. Defense exports rose 55% in the two years prior to 2021 and cybersecurity firms raised US$8.8 billion in 2021. That same year Israeli cyber companies took 40% of the world’s funding. Regimes which might hate their own Jewish populations, but which admire the ethnonationalism and the abilities displayed in keeping Palestinians under control, are lucrative customers. The white Rhodesian regime and the apartheid South African regime were included as was the Pinochet regime in Chile. In the 1970s there was talk of Israel supplying South Africa with nuclear ability.

Israel is also busy in social media, exerting maximum influence on Facebook and Twitter. A former adviser to Netanyahu was appointed by Facebook to look after Jewish and Israeli matters but no Palestinian is there. Staff at Google and Amazon in 2021 objected to working for Project Nimbus, “.a US$1.2 billion contract to provide cloud services to the Israeli government.” WhatsApp owned by Facebook, does not take action against hate groups of violent Israeli colonists.

Future Developments Climate warming, which will cause disruption and mass population movement, will feed the defence and security industries so dear to Israel. Smart border fences, border surveillance, drones and facial recognition will become even more important, and they can all be tested in the Palestinian laboratory. However, the future may not be so favourable to Israel. The old slur of antiSemitism used against anyone daring to criticise Israel or support Palestinian rights, is declining in effectiveness, especially since the Warsaw Ghetto style of attack upon Gaza, killing over 21,000 people mainly women and children, by the end of 2023. Loewenstein concludes with a hopeful indication. He quotes the Responsible Investor website which in 2022 claimed that 67% of investment managers thought that human rights would become mainstream like climate change in investment considerations. “Israel and its supporters must make a choice between their commitment to Zionism and adherence to liberal values.” World opinion is important, as McDonalds and Starbucks are discovering, and Israel will soon find out. The status of pariah state is not only embarrassing, it can be very costly.

NEW FUNDING TO HELP FIGHT INVASIVE

RED IMPORTED FIRE ANTS VIC The Allan Labor Government is investing $69.7 million to help the national fight against one of the world’s worst invasive pests, the Red Imported Fire Ant (RIFA). Minister for Agriculture Ros Spence announced Victoria will provide the full funding requested to support the national eradication program – which will halt the spread of the pest from Queensland to other parts of Australia. RIFA (Solenopsis invictais) is a destructive South American ant that can spread quickly and cause significant negative impacts on agriculture, the natural environment, human health and the economy. Victoria has been part of the effort to eradicate Red Imported Fire Ants since the national eradication program began in 2001, following the first detection in Brisbane. Fire ant biosecurity zones are in place to help manage the movement of materials that are known to spread fire ants, both within Queensland and interstate. High-risk materials including

soil, hay, mulch, manure, quarry products, turf and potted plants are subject to legally enforced movement controls. Agriculture Victoria routinely conducts surveillance, imposes market access and trade conditions on the movement of fire ant host materials from Queensland, promotes awareness and responds to reports of suspect RIFA. This proactive approach enabled a swift response from Victorian biosecurity officers when a RIFA Queen was found at a Melbourne nursery in February, having arrived in imported plant materials from Queensland. This detection successfully contained and eradicated the ant and highlights the value of Victoria’s risk management efforts. The new funding is in addition to $47.9 million invested by Victoria as part of the National Red Imported Fire Ant Eradication Program since 2017. FREE VACCINES IN PHARMACIES FROM JANUARY 1 The Pharmacy Guild of Australia says patients will no longer have to pay for vaccines at their local community pharmacy under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) from January 1. Up until now eligible patients for the NIP faced an administration fee if they received their vaccination at a community pharmacy, but this will change from 2024. The Pharmacy Guild’s National President, Professor Trent Twomey says the changes will see more pharmacies be able to administer more vaccines. “From the first of January all Australians will be able to ask their pharmacist for all vaccinations on the Commonwealth Government’s National Immunisation Program,” he said. Professor Twomey says having more pharmacists able to administer

the vaccines will free up more appointments at doctors’ surgeries. “This is great news for Australians, great news for Australian families because it means they no longer have to wait up to four days in a capital city or even four weeks in a rural or regional area to secure an appointment with the general practitioner.” The changes will mean that patients have greater choice and convenience about where they get their vaccination. “There is no wrong door. You can continue, if you wish, to see your doctor but you now have that extra choice to be able to ask your community pharmacist for more vaccinations from January 1,” Professor Twomey said. CR RANKA RASIC ELECTED NEW MAYOR OF BRIMBANK Cr Ranka Rasic is the elected Mayor of Brimbank until 26 October 2024, when the next Local Government elections will be held. The new Mayor was elected by fellow Councillors at a special meeting of Council on Friday evening 17 November 2023. Mayor Cr Ranka Rasic takes over from outgoing Mayor Cr Bruce Lancashire, and will lead the municipality in the final year of the four-year term of this elected Council. This is Cr Rasic’s second time as Mayor, after serving in the mayoral role from 2020-2021 and as Deputy Mayor from 2022-2023.

NEW ELECTORATE OFFICE IN MEADOW HEIGHTS Liberal Member for Northern Metropolitan Evan Mulholland this week announced the forthcoming opening of his new electorate office in Meadow Heights. Successive Labor Governments have long neglected communities in Melbourne’s north. To better serve the constituents in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council and Liberal Member for the Northern Metropolitan Region, Evan Mulholland, will be opening a new electorate office at Meadow Heights Shopping Centre on Paringa Boulevard. Opening in February 2024, the new electorate office will be equipped to serve constituents of the Northern Metropolitan Region to assist them with access to state government services and represent their needs. “This is a suburb that recorded double digit swings against the Labor Party at both the state and federal elections. La Trobe University La Trobe University is launching its first major spin-out company with technology that is set to revolutionise medical imaging and potentially save millions of lives. AlleSense has been created to support the commercialisation of technology invented by La Trobe researchers Professor Brian Abbey and Dr Eugeniu Balaur, from the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences and the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science. The world-first nanofabricated microscope slide – NanoMslide – uses colour contrast to easily and quickly identify abnormal cells in a suspect sample. It works by applying a special coating created using cutting edge nanofabrication technology, to the humble glass microscope slide, effectively turning it into a miniature chemistry lab, reducing time and removing dyes from the process. It can be applied to any tissue and has shown significant promise in aiding the diagnosis of early stage and difficultto-diagnose cancers – including breast cancer. AlleSense will be established with an initial investment of $2.5 million, which is being driven by Welcome Ventures.

LA TROBE LAUNCHES ALLESENSE TO ENHANCE CANCER, DISEASE DIAGNOSIS It will enable researchers to progress development of the NanoMslide to clinical trials and facilitate further technology validation with their global partners. Julian Sutton from Welcome will be AlleSense’s inaugural Managing Director. The investment will also support the scale-up of manufacturing of the product, ensuring the slides will be produced in Australia for a global market. The AlleSense team is validating their manufacturing and quality management system with support from the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF) and its ANFF-C translation fund, as well as the ANFF-funded Melbourne Centre for Nanofabrication (MCN), which purchased an instrument to support the team’s proof-of-scale studies. They plan for the technology to undergo rapid clinical translation and be available for research use by the end of 2024. The launch of AlleSense follows eight years of intensive research by the La Trobe University team at the La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science in collaboration with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Garvan Institute of Medical Research. The technology gained significant global attention following publication in Nature in 2021.

RACV AND NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH VICTORIA SHARE CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE RACV RACV and Neighbourhood Watch Victoria are encouraging Victorians to take the necessary steps around their home to help improve their safety and security and ensure their home insurance is up to date. The reminder comes off the back of the latest data from the Victorian Crime Statistics Agency that shows property and deception offences are the types of crimes that have had the largest increase in the last 12 months, up 15.6 per cent to 272,790. Property and deception offences include burglary, break and enter and theft. RACV claims data also shows that over the last two years, almost 57 per cent of car key theft occurred in people’s homes. RACV Head of Home and Business Insurance Kirsty Hayes said the sad fact of property theft was when victims found their insurance did not cover their lost items. “It’s essential to check that your home insurance is up to date, with an adequate level of cover,” Ms Hayes said. “You can calculate the estimated cost to repair or replace your contents by using a home contents calculator. “You can also look into a variety of home security products from RACV to help protect your home including alarm systems and monitoring, smart home security and security cameras (CCTV).” RACV and Neighbourhood Watch are also encouraging Victorians to use How Safe is My Place to help identify vulnerabilities in their property. Last month, the website was translated into Chinese, Punjabi and Vietnamese to expand the reach of Neighbourhood Watch – in particular to new migrants who may not have a similar program in their original countries. ‫تمت تبرئة رجل أعمال من‬ ‫سيدني‪ ،‬صنفته هيئة رقابية‬ ‫حكومية في نيو ساوث ويلز‪،‬‬ ‫بأنه فاسد‪ ،‬على نطاق عالمي‪ ،‬بعد أن‬ ‫قضت األمم المتحدة بأن تحقيق الفساد‬ ‫قد انتهك حقوقه اإلنسانية‪.‬‬ ‫‏‪‎‬كان شريف كــازال من رجال االعمال‬ ‫الناجحين في سيدني لما يقرب من ‪20‬‬ ‫عاما عندما صنفته لجنة نيو ساوث ويلز‬ ‫ً‬ ‫المستقلة لمكافحة الفساد (‪ )ICAC‬بأنه‬ ‫فاسد في كانون االول ديسمبر ‪ 2011‬بعد‬ ‫تحقيق عام في عالقة عائلته مع مسؤول‬ ‫تنفيذي في هيئة ميناء سيدني‪.‬‬ ‫‏‪‎‬ولم يتم توجيه أي اتهام إليه مطلقًا – اذ‬ ‫قال مدير النيابة العامة إنه ال توجد أدلة‬ ‫كافية لدعم قضية جنائية – لكن سمعة‬ ‫السيد كازال دمرت مع ذلك‪.‬‬ ‫بعد سنوات عدة قضاها في استكشاف‬ ‫كل السبل في أستراليا سعي ًا إللغاء تهمة‬ ‫الفساد‪ ،‬أخذ السيد كــازال مسعاه إلى‬ ‫العالمية في عام ‪ ،2017‬حيث أشرك‬ ‫المحامي البارز اللبناني االصل ريتشارد‬ ‫متري والمحامي األسترالي البارز جيفري‬ ‫روبرتسون (ك سي) في مسألة الطعن في‬ ‫النتائج التي توصلت إليها اللجنة المستقلة‬ ‫لمكافحة الفساد أمام لجنة حقوق اإلنسان‬ ‫التابعة لألمم المتحدة‪..‬‬ ‫وتلقى السيد كازال اتصا ًال هاتفي ًا من‬ ‫السيد متري يخبره بفوزهم‪“ .‬أنا بكيت‪.‬‬ ‫قال السيد كازال لصحيفة ديلي تلغراف‪:‬‬ ‫“لقد كانت الدموع تنهمر على خدي”‪.‬‬ ‫جدا‪ .‬كان بمثابة‬ ‫“لقد مضى وقت طويل ً‬ ‫حكم بالسجن مدى الحياة تقري ًبا‪ ،‬كنت‬ ‫أعيش مع هذا كل يوم على مدار األعوام‬ ‫الثالثة عشر الماضية‪.‬‬ ‫“اآلن‪ ،‬تحدثت أعلى محكمة في العالم‬ ‫عن قضيتي‪ .‬هذا انتصار لنفسي ولعائلتي‬ ‫ولكل من يعاني من الظلم على يد اللجنة‬ ‫الحكومية لمكافحة الفساد‪”.‬‬ ‫وقال الفريق القانوني للسيد كازال أمام‬ ‫جلسة األمم المتحدة بأن عتبة اإلثبات‬

‫المنخفضة لدى اللجنة المستقلة لمكافحة‬ ‫الفساد وعملية إجــراء تحقيقات عامة‬ ‫تقوض قرينة البراءة للسيد كازال‪.‬‬ ‫وزعموا أن عــدم وجــود عملية تبرئة‬ ‫ضمن تشريعات اللجنة المستقلة لمكافحة‬ ‫الفساد تركت السيد كازال مع وصمة العار‬ ‫مجرما‪ ،‬على الرغم من عدم‬ ‫باعتباره‬ ‫ً‬ ‫توجيه أي تهم جنائية ضده‪.‬‬ ‫وقال السيد روبرتسون ك‪.‬س‪ .‬إن عملية‬ ‫اللجنة المستقلة لمكافحة الفساد تشكل‬ ‫انتهاك ًا للتعهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق‬ ‫المدنية والسياسية‪.‬‬ ‫وقــررت أن الطبيعة العامة إلجــراءات‬ ‫اللجنة المستقلة لمكافحة الفساد ونشر‬ ‫النتائج التي ال يمكن للسيد كازال الطعن‬ ‫فيها أمام أي سلطة محلية‪ ،‬والتي لم يتم‬ ‫تقديم سبب لنشر اإلجــراءات والنتائج‬ ‫علنية‪ ،‬بمثابة تدخل تعسفي‪ .‬وقال متري‬ ‫في بيان صحفي نُشر‪“ :‬حقه في عدم‬ ‫التعرض لتدخل تعسفي أو غير قانوني في‬ ‫خصوصيته”‪.‬‬ ‫“الحظت اللجنة على وجه التحديد عدم‬ ‫وجود ضمانات إجرائية كافية في تعامل‬ ‫اللجنة المستقلة لمكافحة الفساد مع‬ ‫القضية وغياب آليات للسيد كازال للطعن‬ ‫في النتائج”‪.‬‬ ‫وفي حديثه إلى صحيفة التلغراف من‬ ‫مكتبه في سيدني‪ ،‬قال متري إن كازال‬ ‫سيسعى اآلن للحصول على تعويض من‬ ‫حكومة الوالية نتيجة لهذه النتائج‪.‬‬ ‫وأشار إلى أن حكم األمم المتحدة يمكن‬ ‫أن يغير بشكل جذري كيفية عمل اللجنة‬ ‫المستقلة لمكافحة الفساد في المستقبل‬ ‫ويهز اللجنة في جوهرها‪.‬‬ ‫“على مستوى أوسع‪ ،‬أعتقد أنه على الرغم‬ ‫من التقدم الذي تم إحرازه فيما يتعلق‬ ‫بعمليات وبروتوكوالت اللجنة المستقلة‬ ‫لمكافحة الفساد منذ جلسة االستماع للسيد‬ ‫كازال… [في المستقبل] سيتعين عليهم أن‬ ‫حرصا لتحديد العملية المعمول‬ ‫يكونوا أكثر ً‬ ‫بها لتبرئة علنًا األشخاص الذين صدرت‬

Sudan Emergency Appeal 2023

SUDAN

EMERGENCY

Due to the civil war in Sudan, the UN refugee agency estimated the number of Sudanese fleeing to neighbouring countries would reach 860,000, and aid agencies would need $445m to assist them. The economic situation in Sudan is also at an all-time low, after numerous natural disasters such as droughts and the most recent floods in 2021. There are limited food resources within the country, where a third of its 46

million population are already reliant on humanitarian aid. If the violence continues, millions more will be forced into hunger. With the ongoing conflict, people are fearing for their lives which has heavily impacted the health sector. 60 of 86 hospitals in the current conflict zones have ceased operations according to the Sudan Doctors Union. This has had a ripple effect on the citizens who are fleeing to neighbouring countries such as Chad, South Sudan, Ethiopia & the

Central African Republic. Human Appeal International’s office in Sudan has been assisting the people there since 38 years. Our staff and volunteers there are working to aid refugees by providing them with temporary shelter, food & medical aid during these difficult times.

Türkiye/Syria Earthquake Appeal

The powerful earthquake has hit parts of Türkiye and Syria, killing thousands and causing buildings to collapse. The earthquake was also felt in Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan & Iraq. Needless to mention that the affected parts in Syria are areas of refugees. The first magnitude 7.8 quake, centered in southeastern Türkiye brought down whole apartment blocks in several cities and piled more devastation on millions of Syrians displaced by years of war. At least 31,643 deaths have been reported in

Türkiye, while 5,714 people have died in Syria. The death toll is likely to keep rising. The Human Appeal team is on the ground, providing aid including food, clothing, and shelter to survivors in the affected areas in southern Turkey and northern Syria. Thousands of individuals, including refugees, are struggling to survive in freezing temperatures without adequate shelter. We are calling upon you to help us save lives!

Afghanistan Earthquakes Emergency Appeal

Afghanistan has been grievously affected by two potent earthquakes, each measuring a magnitude of 6.3 impacting the Herat province. The aftermath has been heartbreaking, with the death and injury toll soaring past 2,445 people, making it one of the most lethal earthquakes to hit Afghanistan in over two decades. The seismic quakes have caused considerable damage, decimating

over 1,320 homes and impacting approximately 4,200 residents directly. Furthermore, the initial quakes have been followed by at least seven tremors, amplifying the devastation and instilling fear amongst the people who have lost their homes and livelihoods. Libya & Morocco Emergency Appeal 2023

In what has been a difficult week for the African continent we find ourselves facing a crisis that is staggering in its scale and heartbreaking in its human cost. Catastrophic floods have ravaged Libya, leaving a trail of unimaginable devastation. The Reality on the Ground Whole neighborhoods have been say indiscriminately swept out to sea, leaving survivors to grapple with the enormity of the situation. In the city of Derna alone, the death toll has exceeded 11,300 lives lost. Estimates

10,100 individuals reported missing. Few days after, a catastrophic earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 hit the Al-Haouz and Taroudant provinces in Morocco. This tragic event has left an irreversible impact on thousands of lives, tearing apart communities and families. More than 2,946 people have lost their lives. Over 5,674 individuals have been injured, many severely. Countless residents have been forced to flee their homes, currently living in make-shift conditions with limited access to basic necessities. The tremor has destroyed numerous

homes, schools, and other crucial buildings, creating an urgent need for reconstruction and rehabilitation. The seven-year-old conflict in Yemen has left the country in a dire condition. The country’s humanitarian crisis is said to be among the worst in the world, due to widespread hunger, disease, and attacks on civilians. millions in Yemen have suffered the compounded effects of the war, ongoing economic crisis and disrupted public services. More than 23.4 million

people need humanitarian assistance in 2022. A record 19 million people now need of food assistance. Children continue to stand front and centre in this conflict as some 2.2 million are acutely malnourished. The limited access to critical services continues to worsen the conditions of the most vulnerable groups, mostly women and children.

Gaza once again. Recent events have led to a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where the escalation of conflict has brought untold suffering to countless innocent lives. The current situation is continuously escalating, and has become the most serious incident in the past 20 years. in Gaza to aid the displaced and medically injured. SUPPORTING GAZA’S ORPHANED CHILDREN Thousands and thousands of innocent children lost their lives. Videos on videos. Names on names. The war on Gaza has brought about an insurmountable amount of casualties, so much so, that it has surpassed the annual number of children killed across the world’s conflict zones in the past three years. Unfortunately the rising casualties and the worsening situation may mean that many of the children who survive have a fate worse than those who don’t. Reports have come in of over 15,000 children being orphaned

due to the war. With no family, no homes, no help nor support, these children post-war may face a life more miserable than that of now. We at Human Appeal Australia, refuse to accept this and allow for this to occur. With no family, shelter, assistance, or any form of support, these children could potentially endure a life even more distressing in the aftermath of the war. At Human Appeal Australia, we are steadfast in our commitment to prevent such a fate from unfolding.

In order to avert this scenario, we are launching our Emergency Gaza Orphan Sponsorship Appeal, with the aim of assisting 3,000 orphans through the generous contributions of our donors in Australia. Currently we are creating a waitlist to gather individuals, families and organisations willing to pledge and make an impact on an innocent child’s life. As soon as the war has subsided, we will be connecting every waitlist member with an orphan from Gaza. Your help will alleviate some simple burdens that a young

Schools Ramadan Iftar dinners 2023 Every year the Community Care Division at Human Appeal Australia provides support to several schools to organise Ramadan Iftar Dinners where Muslims and Non-Muslims breaking of the fast, share a meal and unite as a school community.

CHESTER HILL HIGH SCHOOL IFTAR On Wednesday, March 29, for the first time, Chester Hill High School held their first ever Community Iftar Dinner. Iftar is the breaking of the fast for Muslims who are fasting during the month of Ramadan. It was an opportunity to come together, whatever the cultural and/or religious backgrounds, and celebrate the wonderful diversity of the school community.

BURWOOD GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL AND UNITY GRAMMAR IFTAR On the same day, Burwood Girls High School and Unity Grammar carried out its Annual Ramadan Iftar Dinners. With over 200 guests including Jihad Dib, NSW’s Minister for Customer Service & Digital Government, Minister for Emergency Services and Minister for Youth Justice, and Jason Yat-sen Li, MP Member for Strathfield. Burwood Girls High School had a wonderful opportunity for the school community to come together to learn more about the Islamic faith, build understanding and enjoy some amazing food together. As Burwood GHS is such a multicultural school and Muslim students come from many different backgrounds, the evening was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to try food from many cultural regions.

AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY IN KELLYVILLE & PUNCHBOWL PUBLIC SCHOOL On the 4th of April HAA supported the Ramadan dinner initiatives at Australian International Academy in Kellyville and Punchbowl Public School for students, teachers and their families. Punchbowl Public School Community Iftar has become an annual celebration for the school. Families, current and ex-teachers, local schools and local community leaders gather in the school hall to share a meal in the spirit of Ramadan – giving to others. Over 220 guests attended on the night, filling the school hall with a positive atmosphere, with families and staff sitting together. Amal Farhat, a teacher at the school, who led the Ramadan Iftar team, described the night as a huge success with families voicing their appreciation. Principal Donna McGeary believes the night is one where the diversity of our community shines brightly.

MACQUARIE FIELDS HIGH SCHOOL The community of Macquarie Fields High School hosted a successful Iftar dinner on Wednesday 5 April. In all three schools, students and their families gather collectively on the school grounds at sunset and share in a meal and prayers together.

LURNEA HIGH SCHOOL For the 4th year, the community of Lurnea High School hosted a hugely successful Iftar dinner on Friday 31 March. It was wonderful to break the fast and celebrate the richness and diversity of the multicultural school community with more than 350 people in attendance including Tina Ayyad, MP Member Of Holsworthy; Anne Stanley, MP Member for Werriwa; Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun; Dace Elletson Director Educational Leadership at NSW Department of Education; Dr Jan Ali, Academic Program Advisor lecturer in Islamic Studies And Modernity at Western Sydney University; Clr Charishma Kaliyanda and Narelle Curry President of the Liverpool Local AECG (Aboriginal Education Consultative Group).

BIRRONG BOYS HIGH SCHOOL The next day the Iftar evening was thoroughly enjoyed by Birrong Boys High School students and school guests at the Himalayan Emporium in Bankstown. These school iftars foster a sense of community and well-being, develop friendships and build love and harmony through sharing the blessing of Ramadan. Human Appeal Australia is proud to be involved with events that celebrate multiculturalism by bringing people of different backgrounds together in the spirit of sharing and caring and will continue providing opportunities for our community to come together and celebrate important events.

ARKANA COLLEGE The Iftar at Arkana College was a great success with hundreds of students, parents and teachers from different faiths in attendance. The Principal and CEO of Arkana College Osman Karolia welcomed guests in his opening speech and praised the great initiative from Human Appeal to support the community and share the pleasure of feeding the fasting during Ramadan.

Human Appeal Australia and UNICEF Australia On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Human Appeal Australia intensified its efforts to combat poverty and assist those in disaster-stricken regions by entering into an international partnership with UNICEF Australia. The collaboration focuses on implementing two vital projects: addressing the Nutrition Crisis in Sudan and Rehabilitating Water Systems in Syria. The agreement was formalized during a meeting at UNICEF Australia’s headquarters in Sydney. Representing Human Appeal Australia were Managing Director Bashar Al-Jamal, Director of Projects Issam Chaouk, and Financial Controller Mohammed Razeen, while UNICEF's CEO Tony Stuart, Director of International Programs Alice Hall, and Partnerships Manager Saadgi Rajani represented UNICEF. Such collaborations are essential to address the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly refugees and those in crisis-affected areas like Sudan and Syria, providing crucial assistance in healthcare, education, nutrition, and water and sanitation.

HAA DIRECTOR MEETS WITH IHH BOARD

On Tuesday morning, HAA Director Bashar Al-Jamal visited IHH, a longstanding field partner and Turkey's largest NGO in Istanbul. MENTORING 2023 PROGRAM

During mid November ICOM held its Mentoring 2023 program, celebrating and enduring connections formed over the four terms of the year. Throughout the year, our Year

10 mentors played a vital role in guiding our Year 7 students through their transition to secondary school, covering areas like organisation, resilience, and healthy relationships. Our college mentoring program, based on research-backed

framework, demonstrated substantial benefits for both mentees and mentors. Beyond supporting the mentees, mentors experienced personal and professional growth, enhancing communication and leadership skills for their future.

UN VOICE COMPETITION We are overjoyed to share the achievement of three of our outstanding students, Anaya Asim, Maliha Tasneem and Manha Shaik, who not only represented our college with distinction but also secured a place among the top six participants in the UN Voice competition State Finals, a true testament to their exceptional public speaking skills and commitment to positive change. Maliha placed in the top 3 and will now represent ICOM on the National Stage! The UN Voice competition, which began as a journey for students to address pressing issues, has evolved into a platform for our youth to showcase their dedication and passion for creating a better world. Maliha and Manha, through their eloquence and insightful perspectives, have proven themselves as voices that demand attention and inspire action. ‫ناشطون حول العالم يواصلون حمالت‬ ‫االحتجاج ضد شركة ‪ZARA‬‬ ‫واصل ناشطون حول العالم‬ ‫حركتهم االحتجاجية ضد‬ ‫شركة “زارا” اإلسبانية للمالبس‬ ‫اعتراضا على الحملة اإلعالنية األخيرة‬ ‫المثيرة للجدل‪ ،‬وذلــك على الرغم من‬ ‫اعتذار الشركة عن الصور المنشورة وحذفها‬ ‫من جميع مواقعها الرسمية‪.‬‬ ‫وكانت “زارا” قد خرجت بحملة دعائية‬ ‫لمالبسها تمثلت في ظهور عارضة أزياء‬ ‫حاملة مجسما يشبه الكفن وسط الركام‬ ‫الــذي يرمز إلى دمــار المباني‪ ،‬وهو ما‬ ‫اعتبره ناشطون إساءة لشهداء غزة‪.‬‬ ‫وقد دخل عشرات الناشطين أحد فروع‬ ‫“زارا” في أستراليا حاملين األكفان‬ ‫ومرتدين الكوفية الفلسطينية‪ ،‬فيما جابوا‬ ‫أروقة المحل‪ ،‬وسط تنديد غاضب بـ”إساءة‬ ‫الشركة إلى شهداء غزة”‪.‬‬ ‫وفــي البرتغال‪ ،‬خــط ناشطون عبارة‬ ‫“الحرية لفلسطين على واجهة أحد فروع‬ ‫زارا في مدينة بورتو‪ ،‬وقاموا بتلطيخ العالمة‬ ‫التجارية باللون األحمر”‪ ،‬في إشارة إلى‬ ‫لون الدم‪.‬‬ ‫أما في تركيا فمثّل عدد من الناشطين‬ ‫مشهدا يشبه ما يحدث في غزة من إبادة‬ ‫جماعية عن طريق وضع عربات وألعاب‬ ‫أطفال ومجسمات سيارات إسعاف داخل‬ ‫أحــد الــفــروع‪ ،‬منددين بموقف الشركة‬ ‫مــن الــحــرب‪ ،‬فيما حمل المشاركون‬ ‫العلم الفلسطيني وارتــدوا األكفان‪ .‬وقال‬ ‫المشاركون للعاملين في المحل “نحن لسنا‬

‫‪7 CITY COUNCILS IN VICTORIA VOTES‬‬ ‫‪IN SUPPORT OF PRO-PALESTINE MOTION‬‬ ‫وصل عدد المجالس البلدية في والية فكتوريا التي أعلنت تضامنها‬ ‫مع الشعب الفلسطيني الى سبعة مجالس‪ ،‬حيث صوتت لصالح اقتراحات‬ ‫مؤيدة لفلسطين‪ ،‬وقد احتشد مئات األشخاص امام هذه المجالس اثناء‬ ‫اجتماع األعضاء دعما لهذه المقترحات ولحث أعضاء المجالس على التصويت‬

‫لصالحها‪ .‬وتدعو المقترحات إلى وقف فوري إلطالق النار في غزة‪ .‬وقد رفعت بعض‬ ‫هذه المجالس البلدية العلم الفلسطيني تعبيرا عن تضامنها مع اهل غزة ومع الشعب‬ ‫الفلسطيني‪ .‬ويسعى نشطاء الى حث مجلس بلدية ملبورن ومجالس بلدية أخرى‬ ‫على اتخاذ مواقف مماثلة‪.‬‬

‫اإلصالح جهد دعوي ال بد منه‬ ‫بقلم‪ :‬الدكتور إبراهيم نويري‬ ‫كاتب وباحث أكاديمي ـ الجزائر‬ ‫منهج يستهدف إعادة الناس إلى الدين الحق‬ ‫اإلصالح في حقيقته وجوهره‬ ‫ٌ‬ ‫في معناه ومبناه‪ ،‬أي ما كان عليه زمن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وصحابته‬ ‫الكرام واألسالف الصالحين‪ ،‬وذلك عن طريق التصدي للشركيات والخرافات‬ ‫والبدع والتقاليد واألعراف البالية المنافية للشرع الحنيف‪ ،‬وبذل الجهد‬

‫والوسع العلمي من أجل تثبيت عقيدة التوحيد الرائقة الصافية في‬ ‫النفوس واألفئدة‪ ،‬وإقامة العدل بين الناس‪ ،‬والعمل على استتباب األمن‪،‬‬ ‫ودعم المحبة واإلخاء والتضامن والتعاون بين جميع أبناء األمة اإلسالمية‪.‬‬

‫أبرز مضامين معنى الدعوة التي هي‬ ‫وسيلة اإلصــاح فإننا نقول‪ :‬إن معاني‬ ‫الــدعــوة ومشتقاتها تــدور حــول جملة‬ ‫من المضامين أهمها‪ :‬الرغبة إلى الله ـ‬ ‫الحث ـ األذان‬ ‫السؤال ـ الدعاء والطلب ـ ّ‬ ‫واإلمالة ـ االجتماع‪ ..‬الخ‪..‬‬ ‫ولقد ورد في آيــات الذكر الحكيم ما‬ ‫يؤكد هذه المعاني الجليلة‪ ،‬كما في قوله‬ ‫عز وجلّ ‪ِ ..“:‬إنَّا َأ ْر َس ْلن َ‬ ‫َاك شَ ِاه ًدا َو ُم َبشِّ ًرا‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫َون َِذ ًيرا‪َ .‬و َد ِاع ًيا ِإ َلى ال َّل ِه ِب ِإ ْذ ِن ِه َو ِس َر ًاجا‬ ‫ُّم ِن ًيرا”(األحزاب‪ 45 :‬ـ ‪.)46‬‬ ‫وقوله تعالى‪:‬‬ ‫“ ا ْد ُع ِإ ِلى َسبِيلِ َر ِّب َك بِال ِْح ْك َم ِة َوا ْل َم ْو ِع َظ ِة‬ ‫ال َْح َس َن ِة َو َجا ِد ْل ُهم بِا َّل ِتي ِه َي َأ ْح َس ُن إ َِّن‬ ‫َر َّب َك ُه َو َأ ْع َل ُم ِب َمن َض َّل َعن َسبِي ِل ِه َو ُه َو‬ ‫ين”( النحل‪.)125 :‬‬ ‫َأ ْع َل ُم بِا ْل ُم ْهت َِد َ‬ ‫وفي قوله تعالى على لسان الجن لما‬ ‫سمعوا القرآن فرجعوا إلى قومهم منذرين‪:‬‬ ‫ـي ال َّل ِه َو ِآمنُوا‬ ‫“ َيا َق ْو َمنَا َأجِ ي ُبوا َد ِاعـ َ‬ ‫ُ‬ ‫ِب ِه‪(“..‬األحقاف‪ ،)31 :‬أي أطيعوا ما طلب‬ ‫منكم عمله والتزموا الهداية التي جاء بها‬ ‫النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم‪.‬‬

‫أساليب ومناهج مقارعة التحديات‬ ‫ومناهضة أفكار التغريب والتبديل الفكري‬ ‫والثقافي‪ ،‬تلك التي تستهدف هذه األمة‬ ‫في جوهرها وفي ركائز شخصيتها وما‬ ‫وسمات وق ََس ٍ‬ ‫ٍ‬ ‫مات‪.‬‬ ‫تتم ّيز به من خصائص‬ ‫ّإن اإلصالح جه ٌد دعوي وعمل تغييري‪،‬‬ ‫ينبغي أن تتضافر وتتعاضد األدوار‬ ‫الرسمية واألهلية في سبيل القيام بأعبائه‪،‬‬ ‫ألنه متع ّلقٌ بحقوق الله ودينه ؛ فال يجوز‬ ‫التفريط فيه بأي شكل من األشكال‪.‬‬ ‫وال يظن المسلم العادي أنه في ِحلّ‬ ‫من تبعات هذه الحقوق‪ ،‬بحجة أنه ليس‬ ‫من القادرين أو من غير المؤهلين ألداء‬ ‫جزء من تكاليف وأعباء العمل اإلصالحي‪.‬‬ ‫فإن المسلم داعية بطبيعته وفطرته مهما‬ ‫كان حظه من العلم والفهم ؛ واألخالق و‬ ‫حسن السلوك أفضل ما يمكن تقديمه في‬ ‫مضمار جهود الدعوة و اإلصالح‪.‬‬

‫ومــن البداهة القول بأن‬ ‫هذا المسلك الدعوي الرائق‬ ‫قد اعترضته عوائق وعقابيل‬ ‫ومصاعب وتحديات منذ اللحظة األولى‪،‬‬ ‫أي منذ بدء نزول الوحي الخاتم‪ ،‬وإعالن‬ ‫النبي‬ ‫رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلم‪ ،‬بأنه ّ‬ ‫الذي ختم به الله تعالى رساالته المتعاقبة‪،‬‬ ‫وأنه ُبعث إلى الناس كافة‪ .‬بيد أن فعالية‬ ‫المنهج و قوة الدفع في المرحلة األولى‬ ‫آضت(آلت) إلى تحقيق نتائج مذهلة‪،‬‬ ‫ف َمن كــان يص ّدق بــأن مجموع ًة من‬ ‫القبائل المتعادية فيما بينها المتناثرة في‬ ‫الصحاري والفيافي‪ ،‬تحمل رسالة كبيرة‪،‬‬ ‫وتتوحد في وقت قياسي‪ ،‬وتغ ّير التاريخ و‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫الكثير من معالم الجغرافيا في مدة زمنية‬ ‫محدودة بحساب تاريخ األمم والحضارات‬ ‫؟‬ ‫وقد استمرت تلك التحديات في َس ْيرٍ‬ ‫متالزم ٍمع هذه الرسالة ودعوتها عبر‬ ‫وإن كانت أشكالها‬ ‫كلّ مراحل الزمن‪ْ ،‬‬ ‫ورسومها تتغير من مرحلة ألخرى‪.‬‬ ‫وإذا افترضنا بأن القارئ يه ّمه معرفة‬ ‫‪years, NZF has developed grassroots‬‬ ‫‪programs to respond effectively‬‬ ‫‪and immediately to unprecedented‬‬ ‫‪situations, like COVID-19.‬‬ ‫‪The Beyond Borders program will‬‬ ‫‪assist the Palestinians with their‬‬ ‫‪settlement, providing initial financial‬‬ ‫‪assistance for essential and personal‬‬ ‫‪needs. ‫كما وردت أيضا في السنة المطهرة الكثير‬ ‫من األحاديث الشريفة التي تشير إلى‬ ‫بعض هذه المعاني الداخلة في مفهوم‬ ‫حث الناس على‬ ‫الدعوة‪ ،‬السيما معنى ّ‬ ‫اإللتزام باإلسالم وتعاليمه‪ ..‬كما في قوله‬ ‫صلى الله عليه وسلم‪َ ”:‬من دعا إلى ُهدى‬ ‫كان له من األجر مثل أجور َمن َت ِب َع ُه‪(”..‬‬ ‫صحيح مسلم ـ كتاب العلم ـ باب من دعا‬ ‫إلى هدى)‪.‬‬ ‫وقوله لمعاذ بن جبل رضي الله عنه‪،‬‬ ‫حينما بعثه إلى اليمن‪ ”:‬إنك تأتي قوم ًا‬ ‫فادع ُهم إلى شهادة أن‬ ‫من أهل الكتاب‪ُ ،‬‬ ‫ال إله إال الله‪ ،‬وأني رسولُ الله‪ (”..‬صحيح‬ ‫مسلم‪ ،‬كتاب الزكاة ـ باب‪ :‬وجوب الزكاة)‪.‬‬ ‫وفــي عصرنا هــذا تن ّوعت العوائق‬ ‫والتحديات وتش ّعبت في طريق الدعوة‬ ‫الرغم من‬ ‫واإلصــاح والتغيير‪ ،‬وعلى ُّ‬ ‫الجهود المقدورة المتتابعة التي يبذلها‬ ‫الدعاة واإلعالميون وأهل العلم واإلصالح‪،‬‬ ‫فإن العوائق والعراقيل ما فتئت تتوالد‬ ‫وتتج ّدد‪ ،‬وتظهر في صور وأشكال مختلفة‬ ‫متنوعة ؛ األمــر الــذي يقتضي تجديد‬

‫‪YOUR ZAKAT SUPPORTING FAMILIES‬‬ ‫‪FROM GAZA ARRIVING IN AUSTRALIA‬‬

‫‪Distributions Program, which falls‬‬ ‫‪under our established Beyond‬‬ ‫‪Borders program. It will come into‬‬ ‫‪full effect‬‬ ‫‪immediately with the permission‬‬ ‫‪of Allah (SWT). ‫‪Presently, 800 temporary visas have‬‬ ‫‪been allocated to the Palestinians,‬‬ ‫‪which will see most of them residing‬‬ ‫‪in Victoria and New South Wales.‬‬ ‫‪In terms of a Zakat perspective,‬‬ ‫‪many of the Palestinians will come‬‬ ‫‪to Australia with literally nothing,‬‬ ‫‪which will see them fall in the Zakat‬‬ ‫‪categories of Al- Fuqara, Ibn As-Sabil‬‬ ‫‪and Al- Masakeen.‬‬ ‫‪The Australian government isn’t‬‬ ‫‪going to provide the Palestinians‬‬ ‫‪with housing, employment, food,‬‬ ‫‪medical services, money, child‬‬ ‫‪services and so forth. Literally,‬‬ ‫‪nothing! Therefore, who is going to‬‬ ‫‪provide for our Palestinian brothers‬‬ ‫‪and sisters, many of whom are‬‬ ‫‪mothers and widows, while‬‬ ‫‪they’re residing in Australia? In a‬‬ ‫‪collaborative approach, to fulfil the‬‬ ‫‪communal obligation, NZF will be‬‬ ‫‪partnering with various other Muslim‬‬ ‫‪organisations to provide support for‬‬ ‫‪the Palestinians.‬‬ ‫‪Furthermore, NZF is going to‬‬ ‫‪support the Palestinians by‬‬ ‫‪implementing the Gaza Zakat‬‬

‫‪In this month’s article,‬‬ ‫‪we are going to be‬‬ ‫‪addressing how NZF‬‬ ‫‪is going to assist the‬‬ ‫‪Palestinian individuals and families‬‬ ‫‪that have been granted temporary‬‬ ‫‪visas by the Australian government.‬‬ ‫‪This will include firstly how are the‬‬ ‫‪Palestinians coming to Australia,‬‬ ‫‪how NZF intend to assist these‬‬ ‫‪individuals and families and how NZF‬‬ ‫‪has developed a grassroots program‬‬ ‫‪over the last ten years to handle‬‬ ‫‪such humanitarian catastrophes. To‬‬ ‫‪conclude this month’s edition, we‬‬ ‫‪will share with you how the family‬‬ ‫‪sponsors can apply for assistance for‬‬ ‫‪those who have come directly from‬‬ ‫‪Gaza.‬‬ ‫‪To begin with, one may ask how the‬‬ ‫‪Palestinians are coming to Australia.‬‬ ‫‪The temporary visas exist because‬‬ ‫‪they are simply part of the visa‬‬ ‫‪system in Australia. Notably, this‬‬ ‫‪was implemented last year for the‬‬ ‫‪Ukrainian citizens. Prior to this in‬‬ ‫‪2021, temporary visas were allocated‬‬ ‫‪to the Afghans.‬‬

‫حول مصـادر المعرفة في اإلسالم‬

‫تتباين وتتمايز مصادر‬ ‫المعرفة في اإلسالم وفكريته‬ ‫عن مصادر المعرفة في‬ ‫الحضارة الغربية والمناهج‬ ‫الوضعية عامة‪ ،‬سواء القديمة‬ ‫ممثلة في اإلغريق والرومان‪،‬‬ ‫أو المعاصرة ممثلة في أوروبا‬ ‫وأمريكا وغيرهما‪ ..‬إن الغيب‬ ‫وفق ما جاء في التنزيل‬ ‫الكريم‪ ،‬مصدر رئيس وأصيل‬ ‫للمعرفة في اإلسالم‪ ،‬بل إنه‬ ‫أساس‪ ،‬له صالحية وله‬ ‫ُمحدِّ ٌد‬ ‫ٌ‬ ‫مقام إعادة صياغة مصادر‬ ‫المعرفة األخرى‪ ،‬وهي العقل‬ ‫والحس والتجربة‪ ،‬بمعنى‬ ‫أن اإليمان بعالم الغيب له‬ ‫األسبقية في رسم التصور‬ ‫السليم فيما يتعلق بكيفيات‬ ‫وآليات التعامل مع مصادر‬ ‫المعرفة المنتمية لعالم‬ ‫الشهادة‪ ،‬والذي يترتب على‬ ‫تميز‬ ‫ذلك منطقي ًا‪ ،‬يتمثل في ّ‬ ‫منهج المعرفة في اإلسالم‪ ،‬عن‬ ‫منهج المعرفة في الحضارة‬ ‫الغربية‪ ،‬الذي يبدو أنه ال‬ ‫يقر سوى بالعقل والحس ‪-‬‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫التجربة عنده جزء من الحس‬ ‫‪ -‬مصدرين للمعرفة‪.‬‬

‫إن الغيب في منهج وفكرية‬ ‫الحضارة الغربية هو مسألة‬ ‫ذاتية متعلقة بمزاج الفرد‬ ‫نفسه ومدى استعداده لنزوع التد ّين‪،‬‬ ‫وبالتالي فإن المعرفة الغيبية والدينية ال‬ ‫تُع ّد جزء ًا من منهج المعرفة في الحضارة‬ ‫الغربية‪ ،‬وال ريب أن كلّ َمن أتيح له‬ ‫االطالع الواسع يعرف الكثير من تفاصيل‬ ‫هذه القضية في الفكر الغربي‪ ،‬مثل‬ ‫وجود مغالين ش ّددوا على إبعاد وإقصاء‬ ‫المعرفة الغيبية بشكل ح ّدي ونهائي عن‬ ‫منهج المعرفة‪ ،‬كالفيلسوف األمريكي‬ ‫وليام جيمس مؤسس ما ُيعرف بالوضعية‬ ‫المنطقية ؛ ومتساهلين دافعوا عن ضرورة‬ ‫إدراج الغيب والميتافيزيقا واإليمان‬ ‫الديني‪ ،‬ضمن منهج المعرفة‪ ،‬ما دام‬ ‫ذلك ُيع ّد من األمور التي ال محيص عنها‪،‬‬ ‫لشدة ارتباطه بكينونة اإلنسان والتفكير‬ ‫في مصيره‪ ،‬ومثالهم الفيلسوف األلماني‬ ‫األخالقي إيمانويل كانط‪ ،‬وأكثرية فالسفة‬ ‫األخالق في الغرب‪.‬‬ ‫إن اإليمان بالغيب المستند على الخبر‬ ‫الصادق الثابت بطرق اإلعجاز إنما هو‬ ‫أساس ومرتكز منهج المعرفة اإلسالمي ـ‬ ‫كما سلفت اإلشارة ـ يقول الله تعالى‪ ”:‬الم‪.‬‬ ‫ذلك الكتاب ال ريب فيه هدى للمتقين‪.‬‬ ‫الذين يؤمنون بالغيب ويقيمون الصالة‬ ‫ومما رزقناهم ينفقون” ( البقرة ‪1‬ـ‪..)3‬‬ ‫يقول شيخ اإلسالم ابن تيمية رحمه الله‪”:‬‬ ‫طرق العلم ثالثة‪ :‬الحس والعقل‪ ،‬والمركّب‬ ‫منهما كالخبر‪ ،‬فمن األمور ما ال يمكن‬ ‫علمه إ ّال بالخبر‪ ،‬كما يعلمه كلّ شخص‬ ‫بأخبار الصادقين‪ ،‬كالخبر المتواتر وما‬ ‫ُيعلم بخبر األنبياء صلوات الله عليهم‬ ‫أجمعين‪ ،‬وهذا التقسيم يجب اإلقرار به‪،‬‬ ‫وقد قامت األدلــة اليقينية على نبوات‬ ‫األنبياء‪ ،‬وأنهم قد يعلمون بالخبر ما ال‬ ‫ُيعلم إ ّال بالخبر‪ ،‬وكذلك ُيع ِلمون غيرهم‬ ‫بخبرهم‪.”..‬‬ ‫ومحل الشاهد هنا هو الخبر‪ ..‬والخبر‬ ‫ــ كما يقسمه مفكرو اإلسالم ــ قسمان‪:‬‬ ‫صادق وكاذب ؛ فالخبر إذا كان مصدره‬ ‫الله تبارك وتعالى‪ ،‬وثبت ذلك بالمعجزة‬ ‫التي يؤيد الله تعالى بها أنبياءه ورسله‪،‬‬ ‫فهو صادق كله‪ ،‬يستوي في ذلك قطعي‬ ‫الــداللــة وظني الــداللــة‪ ،‬المحكم منه‬ ‫والمتشابه ؛ أما إذا كان مصدره اإلنسان‬ ‫فهو يحتمل الصدق ويحتمل الكذب مع ًا‪،‬‬ ‫لذلك فإن الخبر ركن في المعرفة‪ ،‬فإذا‬ ‫كان المقصود به الوحي اإللهي‪ ،‬فإن منهج‬ ‫المعرفة اإلسالمي يجعله الحاكم والمؤطر‬ ‫لغيره من مصادر المعرفة األخرى‪ ،‬وإذا‬ ‫كان المقصود به الخبر البشري‪ ،‬فهو‬ ‫مجرد جزء من منظومة المعرفة‪ ..‬فلو‬ ‫شخص صادقٌ بخبر ما أو بحدوث‬ ‫أخ َب َرنا‬ ‫ٌ‬ ‫حادثة معينة‪ ،‬فإن مضمون وكيفية حدوث‬ ‫تلك الحادثة أو الواقعة تصبح جزء ًا من‬ ‫معرفتنا وعلمنا على وجه اليقين‪.‬‬ ‫وباالطالع على تراثنا الفكري اإلسالمي‬ ‫ندرك بأن علماء األصول وعلماء التأويل‬ ‫وبعض المفكرين والفالسفة المسلمين‪،‬‬

‫بذلوا جهود ًا مقدورة وثمينة استهدفت‬ ‫ضبط العالقة بين عالمي الغيب والشهادة‪،‬‬ ‫حتى ال يختلط األمــر على المسلمين‬ ‫ويتشابه البقر‪ ..‬فيضطرب الفكر اإلسالمي‬ ‫وتعم الفوضى في الثقافة اإلسالمية‪،‬‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫وبالتالي الحياة اإلسالمية‪.‬‬ ‫ومع أن منهج القرآن نفسه ُم ْجزِئٌ في‬ ‫تفهيم وطمأنة القوى والملكات والمواهب‬ ‫التي أودعها الخالق تركيبة اإلنسان وفي‬ ‫طليعتها العقل والفطرة السليمة‪ ،‬وشحنها‬ ‫بحقائق االعتقاد الصحيح عن عالم الغيب‪،‬‬ ‫بيد أن فريق ًا من أهل اإليمان ضل السبيل‬ ‫وتنكّب الجادة‪ ،‬تحت مظلة الحرية في‬ ‫توسيع مصادر المعرفة‪ ،‬فالمتصوفة مثال‬ ‫أو أهل األحوال كما ُيس ّمون‪ ،‬جعلوا اإللهام‬ ‫والــذوق أو الجانب الوجداني عموم ًا‪،‬‬ ‫المصدر األســاس واألهــم للمعرفة‪ ،‬مما‬ ‫أفضى ـ كما ُيفهم من تراثهم الفكري ـ‬ ‫إلى اضطراب معادلة العالقة الصحيحة‬ ‫بين العقل والنقل‪ ،‬أو عالمي الغيب‬ ‫والشهادة‪ ،‬وفي تصوير هذه المعضلة‬ ‫التي ط ّوحت بالعقل المسلم وأخرت مسيرة‬

‫رسالة الفكر اإلسالمي والتشغيب على‬ ‫دوره يقول المفكر المسلم الراحل الشيخ‬ ‫الغزالي رحمه الله‪ ..”:‬وإنه لثقل على صدر‬ ‫الحياة أن يوجد جيل من الناس ال يعي أن‬ ‫الكون محكوم بقوانين دقيقة‪ ،‬وال يدري‬ ‫أن العقل اليقظ هو الوسيلة الفذة لمعرفة‬ ‫الله‪ ،‬عن طريق تأمل ملكوته وتدبر وحيه‬ ‫وإنفاذ وصاياه وإعالء كلماته‪ ..‬إن الدين‬ ‫يتضمن جانب ًا من اإليمان بالغيب‪ ،‬وهو‬ ‫كذلك يتضمن جوانب من عالم الحس‬ ‫والحركة‪ ،‬والجانب األول ينظم الجوانب‬ ‫األخرى و يساندها وال يحيف عليها أو‬ ‫ثم قلنا‪ :‬إن اإليمان بالغيب‬ ‫يشرد بها‪ ،‬ومن ّ‬ ‫ليس إيمان ًا بالوهم وال إيذان ًا بالفوضى”‪.‬‬ ‫مما ال شكّ فيه أن هذه المسألة وضبطها‬ ‫منهجي ًا هي مسألة حساسة جــد ًا‪ ،‬فهي‬ ‫مربط الفرس في عملية التقدم والنهضة‬ ‫واإلقالع الحضاري حسب تعبير استاذنا‬ ‫الكبير المرحوم مالك بن نبي رحمه الله‬ ‫تعالى‪.‬‬ ‫ولي التوفيق‪.‬‬ ‫الله‬ ‫و‬ ‫ّ‬

‫باالطالع على تراثنا الفكري اإلسالمي ندرك بأن علماء األصول‬ ‫وعلماء التأويل وبعض المفكرين والفالسفة المسلمين‪ ،‬بذلوا‬ ‫جهودًا مقدورة وثمينة استهدفت ضبط العالقة بين عالمي الغيب‬ ‫والشهادة‪ ،‬حتى ال يختلط األمر على المسلمين ويتشابه البقر‪..‬‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫فيضطرب الفكر اإلسالمي وتعم الفوضى في الثقافة اإلسالمية‪،‬‬ ‫وبالتالي الحياة اإلسالمية‪.‬‬ ‫ولعله من المناسب التذكير ببعض المؤلفات الفكرية اإلسالمية‬ ‫القيمة‪ ،‬التي عالجت هذا اإلشكال المعرفي باقتدار منهجي بديع‪،‬‬ ‫ومنها على سبيل المثال فحسب‪ ،‬وليس التفصيل‪:‬‬

‫• (الموافقات) لإلمام إبراهيم الغرناطي المشهور‬ ‫بالشاطبي‪،‬‬ ‫• (معيار العلم) ألبي حامد الغزالي‪،‬‬ ‫• (أساس التقديس) لإلمام المفسر الفخر الرازي‪،‬‬ ‫• (فصل المقال وتقرير ما بين الشريعة والحكمة من‬ ‫اتصال) للفقيه الفيلسوف ابن رشد األندلسي‪،‬‬ ‫• (درء تعارض المعقول والمنقول) لإلمام ابن تيمية‪،‬‬ ‫• (اإلرشاد إلى قواطع األدلة في أصول االعتقاد) لإلمام‬ ‫األصولي أبي المعالي الجويني‪..‬‬

‫أمر رئيس الوزراء‬ ‫األسترالي أنتوني‬ ‫ألــبــانــيــز بــإجــراء‬ ‫تحقيق في سبب عدم الكشف‬ ‫عن وثائق “رفعت عنها السرية”‪،‬‬ ‫تتعلق بانضمام أستراليا إلى‬ ‫الغزو الــذي قادته الواليات‬ ‫المتحدة للعراق عام ‪.2003‬‬ ‫وقـــال ألــبــانــيــز الــيــوم إن‬ ‫األستراليين يمتلكون الحق في‬ ‫معرفة سبب خــوض بالدهم‬ ‫للحرب عام ‪.2003‬‬ ‫أصــدرت مؤسسة “األرشيف‬ ‫الوطني األسترالي” االثنين‬ ‫الماضي وثائق مجلس الوزراء‬ ‫الموقعة عام ‪ 2003‬تماشيا مع‬ ‫الممارسة السنوية في األول من‬ ‫يناير عقب انتهاء فترة السرية‬ ‫عن الوثائق‪ ،‬ومدتها ‪ 20‬عاما‪.‬‬ ‫لكن المؤسسة حجبت ‪ 78‬وثيقة‬ ‫تتعلق بحرب الــعــراق بسبب‬ ‫إعدادها من أجل “لجنة األمن‬ ‫القومي”‪ ،‬وهي لجنة فرعية‬ ‫مشكلة مــن وزراء يتخذون‬ ‫قرارات متعلقة باألمن القومي‬ ‫والسياسة الخارجية‪.‬‬ ‫وجاء إلزام أستراليا بالمشاركة‬

‫في الحرب بعد قرار من هذه‬ ‫اللجنة‪.‬‬ ‫واتــهــم ألــبــانــيــز الحكومة‬ ‫المحافظة السابقة‪ ،‬بقيادة‬ ‫رئيس الوزراء سكوت موريسون‪،‬‬ ‫بالفشل في اتباع الممارسة‬ ‫المعتادة المتمثلة في تسليم‬ ‫جميع الوثائق لمؤسسة األرشيف‬ ‫الوطني قبل ثالث سنوات من‬ ‫التاريخ المقرر للكشف عنها‪.‬‬ ‫وقال إنه قرر تعيين الموظف‬ ‫الــعــام الــمــتــقــاعــد‪ ،‬دينيس‬ ‫ريتشاردسون‪ ،‬للتحقيق فيما إذا‬ ‫كانت الوثائق قد حجبت ضمن‬ ‫تستر سياسي‪ ،‬وذلــك خالل‬ ‫أسبوعين‪.‬‬ ‫لقي قرار حكومة موريسون‬ ‫بإرسال قوات أسترالية مقاتلة‬ ‫لــدعــم الــقــوات األمريكية‬ ‫والبريطانية في غزو العراق‬ ‫معارضة من حــزب العمال‪،‬‬ ‫الذي ينتمي لتيار يسار الوسط‬ ‫بزعامة ألبانيز‪ ،‬والذي كان في‬ ‫المعارضة آنــذاك‪ ،‬وأثــار أكبر‬ ‫احتجاجات في الشوارع شهدتها‬ ‫أستراليا منذ حرب فيتنام‪.‬‬ ‫وقال ألبانيز “يجب أن تنشر‬ ‫مؤسسة األرشــيــف الوطني‬

‫الوثائق بمجرد فحصها بحثا‬ ‫عن أي قضايا تتعلق باألمن‬ ‫القومي قد تعفيها من القواعد‬ ‫التي تفرض النشر بعد مرور ‪20‬‬ ‫عاما”‪.‬‬ ‫وصــرح للصحفيين “دعوني‬ ‫أوضح تماما موقف حكومتي‪:‬‬ ‫يمتلك األستراليون الحق في‬ ‫معرفة األســاس الــذي قامت‬ ‫عليه حكومتنا بشن الحرب في‬ ‫الــعــراق‪ .‬إن لم يحدث هذا‪،‬‬ ‫فسننظر فيما إذا كانت الحكومة‬ ‫بــحــاجــة التــخــاذ مــزيــد من‬ ‫اإلجراءات لضمان الشفافية”‪.‬‬ ‫وقــالــت مؤسسة األرشــيــف‬ ‫الوطني في بيان إنها “ستقرر‬ ‫ما إذا كانت ستنشر الوثائق أم‬ ‫ال في غضون ‪ 90‬يوما‪ .‬تسلمنا‬ ‫الوثائق ليلة رأس السنة‪ ،‬ونعطي‬ ‫األولوية لمراجعتها”‪.‬‬ ‫المصدر‪ :‬أ ف ب‬

‫توفي في لندن الصحافي االستقصائي وصانع األفالم‬ ‫الوثائقية األسترالي المولد‪ ،‬جون بيلجر‪ ،‬المعروف بدعمه‬ ‫لمؤسس موقع ويكيليكس‪ ،‬جوليان أسانج‪ ،‬وتغطيته آلثار‬ ‫ِّ‬ ‫نظام بول بوت في كمبوديا وفضيحة ثاليدومايد‪ ،‬عن ‪ 84‬سنة‪ ،‬بحسب‬ ‫ما أعلنت عائلته اليوم األحد‪.‬‬ ‫وكان بيلجر‪ ،‬الذي عاش معظم حياته في بريطانيا منذ أوائل‬ ‫الستينيات‪ ،‬يعمل لدى “رويترز” وصحيفة “ديلي ميرور” البريطانية‬ ‫وبرنامج التحقيقات االستقصائي السابق ‪ World In Action‬الذي‬ ‫كانت تبثه قناة ‪ ITV‬التجارية‪.‬‬ ‫\في عام ‪ ،1979‬كشف فيلم ‪“ ITV‬السنة صفر‪ :‬الموت الصامت‬ ‫لكمبوديا” مدى جرائم الخمير الحمر‪ .‬وفاز بيلجر بجائزة األكاديمية‬ ‫الدولية للفنون والعلوم التليفزيونية عن الجزء الالحق “كمبوديا‪:‬‬ ‫الخيانة”‪.‬‬ ‫وأنجز بيلجر فيلم ًا وثائقي ًا عام ‪ 1974‬لقناة ‪ ITV‬بعنوان “الثاليدومايد‪:‬‬ ‫الثمانية وتسعون منسي ًا”‪ ،‬حول حملة تعويض األطفال بعد أن أثيرت‬ ‫مخاوف بشأن العيوب الخلقية لتناول األمهات الحوامل للدواء‪.‬‬ ‫وحصل بيلجر على جائزة بافتا ريتشارد ديمبلبي للتقارير الواقعية‬ ‫في عام ‪.1991‬‬ ‫ووصف المدير اإلداري لقسم اإلعالم والترفيه في قناة ‪ ،ITV‬كيفن‬ ‫ليغو‪ ،‬بيلجر بأنه كان “يتجنب اإلجماع المريح” لصالح “منبر لألصوات‬ ‫المعارضة منذ أكثر من ‪ 50‬عام ًا”‪.‬‬ ‫كما نظّ م بيلجر حملة من أجل إطالق سراح مؤسس ويكيليكس أسانج‪،‬‬ ‫المتورط في معركة طويلة ضد تسليمه إلى الواليات المتحدة‪ ،‬وتح ّمل‬ ‫تكلفة الكفالة‪.‬‬ ‫المصدر‪ :‬العربي الجديد‬

‫اقــامــت منسقية‬ ‫مــلــبــورن فــي تيار‬ ‫حفال‬ ‫المستقبل‬ ‫تكريميا للقنصل اللبناني السابق‬ ‫الدكتور زياد عيتاني في مطعم‬ ‫القلعة بمناسبة انتهاء مهامه‬ ‫القنصلية في ملبورن‪ .‬حضر‬ ‫الحفل عميد السلك القنصلي‬ ‫في ملبورن قنصل سلطنة عمان‬ ‫الدكتور حمود الوردي والرئيس‬

‫السابق للمجلس التشريعي في‬ ‫برلمان واليــة فكتوريا نزيه‬ ‫االسمر وعقيلته‪ .‬الــى جانب‬ ‫فعاليات وشخصيات سياسية‬ ‫واجتماعية وثقافية واقتصادية‬ ‫ورياضية‪ ،‬واعالمين ورجــال‬ ‫الدين‪ .‬إضافة الى منسق ملبورن‬ ‫حسين الحولي واعضاء مجلس‬ ‫المنسقية ومجلس المستشارين‬ ‫وعائالتهم‪.‬‬

‫وقد القى المنسق حسين الحولي‬ ‫كلمة رحــب فيها بالضيوف‬ ‫وأثنى على القنصل الدكتور‬ ‫زيــاد عيتاني وأشــاد بمهنيته‬ ‫وبموافقه وبعمله من اجل خدمة‬ ‫الوطن والجالية خاصة من‬ ‫خالل حثه ابناء الجالية على‬ ‫تسجيل ابنائهم والمحافظة على‬ ‫الهوية اللبنانية وتعليم اللغة‬ ‫العربية ليبقى ارتباطهم بوطنهم‬

‫اقوى‪ .‬ثم تطرق الى األوضاح‬ ‫في غزة حيث استنكر االبــادة‬ ‫الجماعية وقتل االبرياء في غزة‬ ‫والضفة متسائال عن االنسانية‬ ‫والمنظمات الدولية لحقوق‬ ‫االنسان‪.‬وفي ختام كلمته قدم‬ ‫المنسق الدرع التقديري باسم‬ ‫المنسقية للقنصل العام اللبناني‬ ‫عيتاني‪.‬‬ ‫ثم جاءت كلمة القنصل السابق‬

‫الدكتور زياد عيتاني والتي أشاد‬ ‫فيها بأبناء الجالية لما يحملونه‬ ‫من حب ووفــاء لوطنهم لبنان‬ ‫يعبرون عنه من خالل تضحياتهم‬ ‫واعمالهم ومساعداتهم المالية‬ ‫ألهلهم في لبنان‪ ،‬كما قدم شكره‬ ‫للمنسق واعضاء المنسقية واعتبر‬ ‫ان الــدرع التقديري ليس له‬ ‫شخصيا‪ ،‬بل للقنصلية ولبنان‪.‬‬
