The moment and the confirmation
Ideas can find dimension in objects. We can take pictures and exhibit them, yet the idea was there before, photography is late, it captures what has already happened. The idea-moment is past, it is born and dies immediately after: its lifespan is short but could be long. Long because we don’t know how long it has been there waiting to be found by someone. We don’t know its age, nor origins. What we do know is that now we have found it. A confusing sense of hapiness and regret invades me on the spot; I’ve got it! Have I killed it? I’m a merciles idea hunter. I’ll have to reconsider whether to keep hunting or just go for walks and what if a nice piece pops up from behind the bushes… I’ve found a loyal ally in photography to confirm what truly captures me; the object in itself, the instant, and ultimately the idea. This interest strengthens one of the multiple dilemmas I face; the choice of colour when presenting graphically. I begin to think that colour is secondary in the world of ideas. When we have an idea, does it come in colour? I’m overcome by a notion that ideas come from the African continent, the black continent. How beautiful to think that the best ideas come from such a troubled, castigated abused continent. I’ll have to travel to Africa more, travel to the heartland of ideas. An authentic quest! I thought about it long and hard and came to the conclusion that colour shouldn’t obstruct the understanding of the idea as such, should that happen than, maybe, the idea is simply not good enough.

El instante y la confirmación
Las ideas las podremos dimensionar a través de los objetos y fotografiarlos para exhibirlas, pero el instante de la captura de las ideas es anterior a la fotografía. La fotografía ha llegado tarde, congela algo que ya ha sucedido. Ese instanteidea ya es pasado, nace y muere en el mismo momento; su ciclo de vida es corto y a la vez puede ser muy largo. Corto por la inmediatez de su desenlace y largo porque no sabemos cuánto tiempo llevaba ahí, esperando que alguien la encontrara. No sabemos su edad, ni su procedencia, lo único que sabemos es que la hemos hallado. Una sensación contradictoria de felicidad y remordimiento me embarga en ese momento: ¡la encontré!, ¿la maté? Soy un cazador de ideas despiadado. Me tengo que replantear si seguiré yendo de “caza” o simplemente me daré paseos y si me sale alguna pieza tras el matorral... He encontrado un aliado fiel, la fotografía, para confirmar lo que verdaderamente me interesa, el objeto en sí, el instante, la idea. Este interés viene a confirmar uno de mis múltiples dilemas: el color a la hora de la presentación gráfica. Empiezo a pensar que el color puede ser un elemento “secundario” en el mundo de las ideas. Cuando encontramos una idea, ¿la encontramos “en color” o simplemente a la idea? Me asaltan las dudas de que las ideas provengan del continente africano, del continente negro. Qué bonito pensar que de ese continente tan castigado y tan maltratado provienen todas las ideas, las buenas. Tengo que viajar más a África, ahí están las minas “idiolíticas”. ¡Todo un viaje! Después de darle muchas vueltas al tema, he llegado a la conclusión de que el color no debe ser un impedimento visual para la comprensión de la idea y si esto no es así, la idea no me vale.
