And then you hear: “Peace, Be Still”. In the midst of the raging storm, the Master of the heavy seas of life, says “Peace, Be Still”. He holds out His hand of love and mercy and quiets the storm of your life. He dries up the rain and quiets the wind. He covers you with His hand; you no longer need to run for cover. Be reminded of Mark 4, when the disciples and Jesus were in the boat going across the river. Jesus was asleep and a great squall came out of nowhere and the waves were crashing in over the boat and the disciples were in great panic over this sudden storm. The disciples rushed to Jesus, woke Him and asked, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown”? How many times have we said that to Jesus? “Do you not care that this or that is happening to me”? Jesus's response to the disciples is what we still can experience today: Mark 4: 39 says “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves; Peace, Be still!” It was a command: the wind died down and it was completely calm. As we head into summer, I imagine there will be many storms brewing on our horizon and the intensity of each storm will vary. Much like our lives! Not one storm is the same as the other and not always are they the same intensity. I encourage you to remember the One who calms the storms, the One with His voice of authority that says to you and your storm, “Peace, Be still”. Let Him in and allow His Power, Might, and incredible Love for you minister to your spirit and guide you to calmer waters.
