“BE STILL”… In our world today and the crazy hectic schedules we keep, “Be Still” is at best a goal we would hope to happen for us. We are faced with the same schedules and routines every day. We get up early, get ready for work, grab a quick breakfast as we scramble with kids, lunches, and car pools. A long day awaits, giving someone else our best for 8 hours, then home again, supper, evening routines and bed, only to start all over the next day, doing the same thing. And in the midst of it all Psalm 46:10 says, “Be Still, and know that I am God”. In what part of this day does it appear that there is a “BE STILL” in the schedule? To “Be Still” requires work on our part. It requires surrender, it requires reverence, it requires stopping and recognizing where you are in your day and how you are managing your activities. God says to “Be Still and know that I am God” not as a punishment in trying to fit Him in, but as a reward for doing so. Have you ever been so stressed and someone comes along and says “just breathe” and you stop and take a breath and continue on, trying to eliminate the issue at hand? In Being Still with the Lord, you are also taking that breather in the hectic part of your day, but you are not just breathing in, you are being still: giving it to Him, if you will, and letting Him be your all in all. God knew that in life we would have moments where we would need to have a check out time. Therefore, He prepared a way for us to connect with Him that would bring Him to our mind and allow Him to overshadow us with His presence. Being Still with Jesus is trusting in Him. Being Still with Jesus is breathing in His name and breathing out the stress of the situation. Being Still with Jesus rejuvenates your soul. And it doesn’t take hours to do! It is simply the mention of His name: Jesus. I so often need to seek His face; I need to feel His Amazing Grace. I can be traveling in my car or working at my desk and the phone calls are coming in one after another and clients are waiting to see me and I feel like running. But then I whisper the name of Jesus. I take a simple moment to be still and know that He IS God and He has my back! No matter what you are going through today, I encourage you to stop in the midst and breathe in the name of Jesus. Let His presence wash over you and renew your spirit! Step back and Be Still and trust your life to His safe keeping! He sees your need and He has your answer. Be still before Him and Know that HE IS GOD! You will be amazed at the closeness you feel to the spirit of the Almighty when you stop and recognize His presence in your life. He is as close to you as the mention of His name! Shhh…. Be quiet: "Be still in your spirit and KNOW that I am your God!" Day | 153
