Hands-On Maths Forward and backward Get into pairs. Part of a number grid showing the numbers 1 to 100 has been torn away. Look at the grid and read the numbers 1 to 20 out loud.

1, 2, 3, ‌

Now continue counting on to 100 by following the steps below.

1

Start by counting from 21 to 30.

2

Then get your friend to continue and count the next ten numbers.

3

Take turns to continue counting on ten numbers at a time.

Are you able to count up to 100? If not, what numbers can both of you count up to? Now, try counting back from 20 to 0. You may use the number grid shown to help you.
