MY PERSONAL WEBSITE

This is a website that I designed by myself. A website is a great tool for advertising yourself and increasing your online presences. I use my website to publish links to my blog, details about my current education, a portfolio of work I have carried out, work experience and details on how you can contact me. This website creation has given me an understanding of HTML and design. I have carried this through to a new client’s website for professional golf tuition.

Summer Drinks Catering Service

From my experience within the Hospitality industry, during the summer of 2010 I put it to good use. The aim of the business was to assist and help serve drinks at garden parties in my local area.

I started off by designing a small A5 leaflet and delivered that to 50 houses around where I lived. I got 8 responses to the leaflet for enquiries just over 10% return.

To gain more enquiries I designed an A4 poster campaign and put 6 posters up in neighbouring villages. I charged ÂŁ10 per hour and on occasions I had to source local employment within the area to help if I needed more staff for events.

I made over ÂŁ400 over 8 garden parties. This resulted in an average of ÂŁ50 for each one.

This portfolio describes a bit more about the business including testimonals of what some of my clients have said about my service and also some of the promotional tools that I used.

This is an example of the leaflet that I used to advertise the service on offer. I delivered this to over fifty addresses within my local area

“Alistair did two drinks catering events for me. Thank you so much for your wonderful help yesterday. It made such a difference as we were able to relax and enjoy our friends company. Everywhere was very tidy in the kitchen and dining room. Many thanks. Tricia Griffiths – Number available on request

“I thought you and Lisa were absolutely brilliant. You were both so professional and made our party go so smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble for either of you. Thank you very much. Everyone was very impressed by your professionalism and courteousness and I will certainly give you a ring when we have another party.” Julia Mitchell – Number available on request

“We had a lunch party for approximately 40 people. Alistair not only fixed and served drinks but also came up with great suggestions about how to organise the day. He just got on and did everything without waiting to be asked which contributed to a lovely day. I would recommend Alistair and hope to use him again soon.” Stephanie Wellesley – Number available on request

This is the poster I designed including contact details. I put these around the local area in which I live. I put six posters in total to advertise our drinks catering service.

“Thank you very much for helping to make our celebrations so special. From the moment you arrived, you took control and worked tirelessly throughout the evening. It was especially reassuring to see that everyone was being well looked after and we have received so many lovely comments about you. The icing on the cake was that you cleared away at the end of the evening, leaving us little to do the next morning. Thank you both very much once again” Sarah Dunn - Number available on request

Car Boot Sales Numerous car boot sale schemes have created opportunities to make money. I was selling a mixture of books, cd’s and household items which I didn’t have a use for anymore. Due to the current climate people prefer to buy second hand rather than directly from the shops. Car boot sales are great opportunities for people to do this. Through the course of my placement year I made an estimated £250 from four car boot sales. Averaging £62.50 at each car boot. *This is a picture of me, at one of the car boot sales in the rain*

Over the past year I have become an EBay seller. Using items which I no longer need or have no use for, I will put them up for auction on eBay. This auction site has given me an insight into selling products and during the year from September 2009 – 2010 have made an estimated £1,100 from the site. I have put an account on PayPal and you can see a track record of payments from the past 3 months overleaf.

Once I sell something a buyer can comment on the overall experience using feedback rating. Having started the year on a feedback score of 10, I have since grown to 59. With a positive average feedback score from the past 12 months of 100%. Gaining this positive feedback hopefully I can transfer into a commercial sales environment. These are just a few examples of the types of feedback customers have left behind. “Great thanks will use again” – “Excellent item fast delivery thanks A+++++++++”
