LIGHT OBJECTS A L I C J A PA N A S I E W I C Z

LUMIFORMS The name originates from the Latin language and means "to illuminate". For me it means different forms of shining, objects emitting light and also different forms of light. The idea of this project was to use light and shadow play: dots, lines, rays, beams patterns expose in the darkness. The shape a square is a basic, simple, ideal, geometric form. I wanted to avoid the decoration of the forms in order to maximise the decorative effect of the light . There are changeable, cylindrical, pierced works on the base of the lamps light goes through them and creates a light drawing. materials: fused glass, liquid aluminium, laser cut aluminium, halogen bulb dimentions: 42x42x20cm 2002

APLIKA LIGHT MIRRORS The first and most important material in this installation is the light reflected from mirrored, uneven surfaces. I explore actual light, create visions with light which invites you to observe the beauty of light. By using artificial light, I intensify visual perception. The second material is recycled, man-made, industrial products, such as re-made plastic parts of cars carved by liquid aluminium. Another important factor is the space around my art works. There is a relationship between the surroundings, the space, and the architecture and the light. The inspiration came from old reflectors on candlesticks. materials: plastic vacuum imprint, liquid aluminium, bulb dimentions: 40x40x8cm 2006

KROPLOGRAFIA The aim of these series is to focus on the simple beauty of natural light which is a natural fhenomena. I want to show this use of artificial light sources and through dematerialisation of the solid objects and focus on visual perception and observation therby extend the viewers understanding, experience and reveal the light. This understanding I hope could lead to extrasenory experience. materials: glass bulbs, shining elements - electroluminescence wires dimentions: changeable 2007

PHANTASMAGORY Ephemeral pictures created by the sun's rays passing through the leaves of a tree. th 19 century theatres used light and shadow projected through pierced masks to create phantasmagoria. Shadow-pictures are in a state of continual change. materials: cardboard, metal construction, pierced work, bulb dimentions: 45x45x100 cm 2008

DREAMWOVEN The effect of „after image fleeting, insubstantial traces on our retinas. Early negative maments of viewing are transformed of our eyes into complementary colour. Traces of reality wave with the dreams, thoughts, images from our memory, create new visions. The Dreamwoven series is an artistic interpretation of after image phenomenon. These set of objects are made from metal rods, metal pieces and special plastic, shining narrow lamps. materials: metal rods, shining elements - electroluminescence wires dimentions: 40x30x70 cm, 40x30x50 cm, 30x15 cm 2007

RAYOGRAPHIA NEW Light draws images on the darkness depending on the juxtaposition of the rays. The constant transition of light from the ephemeral to the tangible, declares the fact of its existance. This freezes time and captures our emotions. materials: pleksiglass, LED dimentions: 6x6x90 cm 2010

LAPILLE Light is the visible equivalent of warmth. Fire and sun are man's companions, dispers darkness and give us safety. The Lapille likes beeing ejected from fire, like the stones thrown from a volcano. This project is an expression of my interest in the phenomenon of seeing in darknes. A weak stimulus of light is received by the specific parts of our eyes retina stamens at this moment the eyes aren't insensitive to colours. Seeing isn't a passive recording of light, but a psychological use of memory, culture, associations, comparissons and experience from the whole of our lives. materials: glass, pate de verre technique, LED diods dimentions: 25x9x7 cm 2005

DREAMWOVEN Light is remembered under our eyelids warm traces remain as an afterimage. The photons of brightness strike the eye's retina; then reflects back into space and we once again find ourselves in a negative world. Here dreams and thoughts are interwoven with reality as seen by our eyes. This afterimage is intertwined with the next image.
