Founders Sheree and Kurt Beddingfield incorporated Kurt’s eye for historical restoration into the preservation of this unique building. Since its inception in 2018, A Church has become a cornerstone in Salida for live music, theater and celebrations in the downtown. (719) 539-3686 SalidaCaringSharing.org Since the early 1970’s, Caring and Sharing has been spreading love in Salida and the surrounding communities. Helen Nachtrieb initially opened it as a volunteer-run thrift store, aptly named “God’s Closet.” Storing items until they were needed by the local community, and then given away free or for a small donation. Today Caring & Sharing Resource Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, providing the local and transient community with food, clothing, gas money and assistance with utilities and rent or mortgage payments. The building at 220 W Fourth Street is also home to the Valley to Valley Senior Care Center, Chaffee Community Resource Center, and the Caring & Sharing Soup Kitchen. The support of the local community is what allows Caring & Sharing board members to continue their mission.
