People wearing jewellery consisted of wires hanging down from ears, plugged into smartphones, iPods and other mobile devices as well as omnipresent yellow cabs – this is the first thing you encounter while getting off the suburban train and entering the streets of New York City. All that dynamically changing landscape and apparent chaos is surrounded by monumental skyscrapers of Manhattan as well as typical repetitive buildings with sandstone facades in Brooklyn. This is how my first impression of this capital of the world, when I first came to visit in 2011, can be described. Could it be tempting to write something more than my own personal feelings after such a short staying in this place? I ‌don’t think so. What is more, any attempts to define New York should be reserved for those who create this city while living and working there. For me, a person visiting New York at an interval of two years, this city is amazing, incredible, even mystical place which, like a good book or film, is able to absorb you without residue. Thousands of people met in the streets are like a giant’s bloodstream. Those smiling, open on the surface individuals are in fact more anonymous than anywhere else in the world.
