ΣΥΝΕΝΤΕΥΞΗ µε την Yeah Sarah (Finding Berlin Blog) The Fall of the Wall and the rise of electronic dance music coincide. Is there, from your own point of view, any connection between the Berlin Wall and the musical creativity or was it a series of random incidents? Which was, in your opinion, the contribution of the musical expression at the Fall of the Wall and the following change? The fall of the Berlin wall was definitely not only a major part of the creative hype, it was also in many ways the reason. People started abandoning the East for the wealthier West, left back deserted places and houses which in turn became the new hot spots for creative people, for outcasts, for students as they were cheap and not very popular. But ultimately, a melting pot of cultures and young lives was established. I'm not sure how the musical scene impacted the fall of the wall. There'd always been young people who tried to politically invest their passions, but I'm not sure about it before the wall came down. On the other hand, it appears that the Fall of the Wall played a significant role in the establishment of Berlin’s techno music scene. How do you think - in case you agree - this happened? As I mentioned beforehand, I think that the fall of the wall was a major contributor to the infrastructure of todays techno scene. Without the warehouses and the melting pot of different young sub-cultures there would have not been such a rise in excessive electronic music. Love Parade 1987-1997. Which were, in your opinion, the effects of this massive event on Berlin’s urban space? Do you think that this was a form of claiming public space? With the Love Parade, the Berliners did not only claim public space, they were claiming an entire public image. Using Techno as a medium to send out their message of love and
