Rugby Club Tradition Continues with 28th Watkins Tournament The Albany Law alumni rugby squad beat the school’s men’s student team in the playoffs before losing to eventual champions RPI at the 28th Annual William M. Watkins Memorial Tournament on April 27, 2013. The Watkins tournament attracted a large crowd of alumni and student spectators, as well as competitors from across New York and New England. The alumni team finished second, the men’s student team finished third, and the women’s student team played well but did not reach the playoffs. In addition to the matches, which were played on campus and also at the Christian Brothers Academy, rugby alumni and current students gathered for opening and closing ceremonies, as well as a reception with Dean Andrews in the law school’s courtyard.
