The Pros And Cons Of Low Energy LED Grow Lights In the electrical world, there are growth and advances with technology to improve on certain factors. The first intention in a scientist was how to increase the efficiency at the cost of the size. With Thomas Edison who invented the first high resistance, incandescent bulb which glowed by passing electricity to a thin filament, inside a vacuum bulb, preventing the filament to burn. At this point of invention, Edison would never have thought about the amount of luminance the bulb would provide per Watt. But, after a successful experiment, he might have started improving it. This ideology continued and now we have the LED Grow Lights as a new and low consuming invention in the market. LEDs are available in the market in plenty and even at a reasonable price. But, the use of incandescent lights for the domestic purpose is still practiced. There is a simple reason behind this; the incandescent bulbs are way cheaper than the LED having the same amount of luminosity. The pros and cons of the LED Grow lights which we also commonly refer to as Grow Lamps are discussed below. On the first place, one point should be kept in mind that, the cost depreciates when there is a huge sale in the market which for LED is not the case. So, the prices are high with the obvious reason of less demand. According to Haitz’s Law, the prices for the LED must degrade by a factor of twenty in a decade which stands somewhat similar to Moore’s Law for Computer Chips. This is the second point to be considered with a pro and con as well. The third point is more logical and practical one, as a matter of fact, the LEDs can for more than 10 years and an incandescent bulb for 2 years maximum. So, it would be definitely justified for a one time investment and enjoy low rates on electricity. The LEDs are reasonably used for growing plants as they assist in Photosynthesis and therefore they are termed as Grow Lamps.
