Fall is finally here! I hope you are enjoying these beautiful cool days. One of the biggest highlights of my summer was my trip to International Convention in Orlando, where I had the opportunity to connect with sisters from other chapters and learn more about the Fraternity’s vision for the future. One of the sessions at Convention that stood out to me was from keynote speaker Ginny Carroll, principal and founder of inGiNuity. Her presentation “Understanding Across Generations” gave us an introduction to the generational hierarchy and the age brackets that are currently volunteering and working together in Alpha Gamma Delta: the Silent/Veteran generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X and Millennials. I also had the honor of accepting four accolades on behalf of our chapter. We received the International Philanthropy Award as well as the Alumnae Achievement Award, which distinguishes us as the most outstanding chapter in the entire Fraternity. We received an Honor Roll certificate for our Adopt-A-Chapter efforts as well as the Joy of Service Award. I cannot express how proud I am of our chapter and how much I appreciate the sisters who always give their time and talents to support our group! You are the reason that we stand out among all the alumnae groups in Alpha Gamma Delta. Our Vice President, Charity Metz Schuller, has put together a great schedule of events for us to share our sisterhood this year. In September, we had a great turnout for Alpha Gam Always at Danny’s BBQ. For our October meeting, we had a baby shower for Carrie Wheeler and Christa Beloskur and we brought Halloween treats for our adopted chapters. I am excited about our November social at the N.C. Museum of Art and as always, our holiday party and gift exchange in December should be a lot of fun. Please plan to join us for IRD 2017 in April. The date has 1

IRD Recap

co

On April 23, 2016, the Greater Raleigh Alumnae Chapter held its annual International Reunion Day celebration luncheon at the home of Mary Ann Akin. This year’s theme was “Endless Possibilities,” and the program featured alumnae members Anne Fleming Hunter and Sarah Elkins. Anne represented our original alumnae chapter, Gamma Epsilon at UNC-Chapel Hill, and Sarah represented the Theta Omicron chapter at Western Carolina University, where she just graduated this past year. Each woman shared her experiences from Alpha Gam collegiate life. Sisters also shared their favorite photos of Alpha Gam experiences and their college sorority residences, which were displayed on a “memory tree” for all to enjoy. The chapter presented several awards at IRD, including a special award from the International Fraternity known as the Talent of Leadership Award for sisters who have made significant contributions to their professions or who have made a positive impact in their local communities. Our very own Charity Metz Schuller was one of eight recipients who received this award from IHQ this year. Charity is the Director of Global Regulatory Affairs for Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc., which provides drug discovery and development services. She consults with clients on global development strategies, interprets regulatory guidelines governing drugs, devices, and biologics, and interfaces with clients and the FDA. In 2014, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame at West Virginia University’s School of Pharmacy. She has published 10 different articles in her field. Outside of work, Charity is very involved with her church and serves on their Marriage Enrichment Committee. She currently serves as Vice President of our chapter and she has also served as 2

Ways & Means As part of our Ways & Means fundraising this year, GRAC is again participating in the Great Lakes Scrip Center Program. It is an easy way to raise money for our chapter while shopping at your favorite retailers - our chapter earns a rebate for each gift card sold through our Scrip program. There is a huge list of participating stores and websites, along with hotels, movie theaters, and restaurants. Please contact Jean Campbell Burroughs at jean@cj4m.com for more information. Jean is planning to make two orders of gift cards for the holiday season, so you will be able to pick up physical gift cards at the November social event and the holiday party in December.
