“Leading the Pittsburgh chapter of AFF is an invaluable opportunity and a critical component of my professional advancement in the think tank world. Through AFF, I’ve been able to meet and build personal relationships with policy analysts in other states, analysts at national think tanks, and state legislative staff. Introverted and quiet by nature, I prefer a book to a happy hour, but my AFF leadership role has challenged me to reach outside of my comfort zone to recruit allies, persuade political agnostics and create lasting friendships in the name of spreading liberty and freedom in the Pittsburgh area. That’s a tall order in city where dozens of universities are preaching to young adults about the dangers of limited government and unfettered capitalism.
