WHO ARE WE? AFC! Welcome to Annerley Football Club Welcome back from Easter Break! Good luck to all of our Senior teams this weekend.

Annerley F.C. Committee

Fast Football Facts (World Cup) India withdrew from the World Cup in 1950 because they weren’t allowed to play barefoot. The most goals scored in a World Cup match was 10 by Hungary against El Salvador in 1982.

Men's Capital Squad Jersey Presentation Dinner The Capital League 1 and Reserves squad last week attended a jersey presentation evening at the Annerley Junior Clubhouse. All the boys came dressed to impress, some looking as though they'd spent hours holed up in front of a mirror beforehand (in particular, Jye Magarry’s hair was impeccable). The Reserves squad were the first to be presented with their new club jerseys by their Coach Tim Noske. Each player happily accepted a quick handshake before putting their good looks to use in a photo with Tim and Flo, a representative from the new club sponsor AIAS. After a barbecue dinner, the boys were treated to a stirring speech from club legend/life member/all-round top bloke Dave Forsyth, in which he encouraged the squad as a whole to work together and get their respective seasons back on track. It is rumoured that this was the first time Dave has talked for longer than a minute without swearing. Head Coach Russell Mapri, along with Dave, then proudly presented the top team players with their new AIAS Annerley jerseys. Overall it was a fantastic night shared in good spirits and we are now eager to begin training again this week, before fighting hard for another three points on the weekend.

- Lee Mollenhauer: Captain, Capital League 1 Reserves

MEN'S Men's Capital League 1

Annerley F.C. VS Southside Eagles 8:30PM Coach: Russel Mapri Coach's Corner! with Russel Mapri After a disappointing loss to North Star, a red card suspension and a number of injuries, our backs are definitely up against the wall this Friday night against the undefeated Southside Eagles. The boys had a taper week leading into Easter, a bonding night and a quality week of training, which has given us every opportunity to find the form we had during pre-season and early in the season to take all three points this weekend, With Nathan Garcia and Damien O'Brien back, along with the inclusion of new players Jeremy Webster and Michele Cappinini , we have strengthened our squad. However we will have to dig deep and all perform at our best to make up for the missing players. Bring on Friday night!

Line Up D. Savage (C) L. Sutherland (GK) N. Garcia S. Otigbah C. Ruiz Seone C. MacLennan D. O'Brien J. Magarry J. O'Brien J. Clarke M. Cappinini J. Webster M. Linsley

Previous Men's Results... The Capital 1 and Reserve squad had a tough time of things on their away trip to North Star, losing 3-0 and 4-1 respectively. The City 1's, 2's and 3's all faced Redlands United, traditionally strong opponents. City 1 and 3 recorded great wins 3-1 and 3-2; while City 2 were beaten 4-1. City 4 rounded out the weekend with a 2-1 win over Southside Eagles.

WOMEN'S Women's City League 5

Annerley F.C. VS UQFC 1:00PM Coach: Faye Naylor Coach's Corner! with Faye Naylor This week sees us playing UQ who are on equal points with us on top of the ladder but with a game in hand. After two wins and an unlucky loss, there is still a long way to go. We have high hopes on finishing in the finals race again this year. Having secured the services of a great keeper, the remainder of the squad can rest easy knowing one of them no longer has to go in between the 'posts of death' too often. We have remained strong defensively and in the midfield and with some concentration on finishing I think we will win a lot more games comfortably.

Previous Women's Results... Last round saw the BWPL team record its first win of the season against UQFC, with an impressive 3-0 victory at home. Our City 1 team suffered their first loss of the season, losing to Logan 3-1. City 4 had the weekend off (bye) and City 5 had a close loss away from home, going down to Easts 1-0.

Line Up C. Smith (C) L. York (GK) C. Stilianos A. Muentes Bernal L. Adams M. Glover J. Ingram K. Mumberson S. Watts J. Bundz C. Caliban T. Harrison S. Ladas C. Silcock A. Metcalf M. English
