WHO ARE WE? AFC! Welcome to Annerley Football Club Annerley Women's Cup Dream Continues! On Wednesday night, our Annerley BWPL team hosted Logan Lightning BWPL in a quarter final match of the Elaine Watson Cup. This season has seen the Cup expand to include the highest senior women’s team from each Football Brisbane club, resulting in a total of 52 senior women’s teams being entered into the knockout competition. Our BWPL girls did not have an easy run through to the quarter final, being pitted against Pine Hills City 1 and UQFC BWPL in earlier rounds. However, they eagerly took to these challenges and recorded convincing wins of 6-0 and 5-0, respectively. Logan Lightning, current BWPL league leaders, represented Annerley’s toughest challenge in the competition yet, and Wednesday night’s game was a very physical encounter with both teams determined to progress through to the semi-finals. Annerley put in an exceptional performance and attained a much deserved 4-1 victory at the final whistle. The team will now face Ipswich Knights City 1 next Wednesday at 7:30pm at Elder Oval in what is sure to be an entertaining semi-final. Come and cheer on the girls as they continue their run into the grand final! GO ANNERLEY!

Another week, another massive game - not only for the top team, but for the club as a whole. A three point result would mean a slight, well-deserved breather if other results go our way. There are no easy games in this comp and our final four games are against fifth, first, second and third which means that every game will be a do or die situation for us. I'm hoping the whole club gets behind the boys and helps support us for our Friday night game. We've got what it takes to get the results so let's take care of business. GO ANNERLEY!!
Previous Men's Results... Last Saturday the Capital 1s and Reserves travelled to local rivals Southside Eagles. The Capital 1s dominated possession and chances but had to settle for a nil all draw. The Reserves lost 3-0. City 1 won on forfeit against Taringa. City 2 notched up an impressive 2-1 win against high flyers Souths United. City 3 won 3-2 away to Brighton Bulldogs. City 4 rounded off the weekend with a 2-2 draw against Peninsula Power.

It's the business end of the season and our hard work so far sees us sitting in second spot on the ladder with four games to go. This week we face Logan Lightning, who are currently third, and we tackle fourth and fifth over the next two weeks. We have a tough end to the season, which is going to see us truly tested, but it should be excellent experience for the team as we prepare for finals. We have a great team, and are looking forward to taking it to our opposition over the remainder of the season and finishing on a high.
Previous Women's Results... It was a good weekend for the Annerley women's teams over the weekend with all teams picking up points. The BWPL team played well but only managed a 1-1 draw at home to Capalaba. The City 1s were back to their winning ways with a convincing 3-0 win against Easts. The City 4s had a resounding 5-0 win away at Samford and our City 5s had a 2-1 win against Moggill.
So there's these boys who kinda stole my heart, they call me mummy.

Most embarrassing footballing moment? Butchering a one-on-one goal scoring opportunity to win the 2012 Grand Final. Most times that I receive the ball... I try and pass it to someone who knows what they’re doing. What do you remember about your first ever coach? He convinced me that I wasn’t a goal keeper. Pretty happy for that. After the success of last year's team photos, when photos were taken on the weekend, we hope to have another smooth run and, with luck, be ahead of schedule! Please have players available 15 minutes before their allotted time to enable the photos to run on time. If needed, change rooms are available for a quick clean up after games, so that you can look your best. To assist in the running of the photos, team managers should ensure that they have checked the list of players names that Dave will provide for each coach during the week at training. If you are able to assist in photo taking please look for Dave and his wife Kylie. Meet at the front of the clubhouse at the main stairs near change rooms 3 and 4. For teams who are away we recommend that you return directly to the club after your game or call ahead to see if we are running ahead of time.
