WHO ARE WE? AFC! Welcome to 2015 "Goodluck to all Squirts, Juniors & Seniors who play their first 2015 season fixture this weekend. We're looking forward to a great 2015 season together." Annerley FC Committee

On a different kind of pitch... Last weekend the Annerley Senior Women's teams enjoyed their first social event of the season. Players from all of our women's teams, from City League Division 5 through to our BWPL squad, appreciated the opportunity to get to know one another better over an afternoon of barefoot bowls and cheeky beverages at Club Greenslopes. Our reigning Miss Annerley, Emily Simms, also relished the chance to preside over the event with her trusty sash as she enthusiastically demonstrated her unique bowling skills. Although none of us will be making the switch from football to competitive lawn bowls anytime soon, it was a lot of fun getting out there on the green and having a go.

A very big thank you to Club Greenslopes for the wonderful services they provided, including the bowls, tasty pizzas, affordable drinks, and very friendly staff. Thank you also to all of the players that attended for making it such an entertaining afternoon, and we look forward to organising another event very soon! -Senior Women's Social Committee

Looking Ahead Annerley Football club is looking to make some changes at the Senior Clubhouse to make it a more inviting and comfortable for our guests. Watch this space, as bright things should be on their way soon!

WOMEN'S Annerley VS. Eastern Suburbs

Brisbane Women's Premier League 6:00PM Coach: Anthony Costa Anthony Costa (FFA Senior Football License) Round 1 of the BWPL competition is finally upon us! And what a way to start the season, with us welcoming our local rivals, and one of the premiership favourites, Eastern Suburbs. We have been working hard in pre-season and are ready for a very tough start to the season. Easts have a very strong squad with plenty of depth. Although we are missing a couple of players, with the on-field guidance of our 2015 season captain, Gemma Layfield and our vice captain, Mariko Kircaldie, we are as prepared as we possibly can be. Rest assured we will be giving our all to get our 2015 BWPL campaign under way with a tough round 1 win.

UPCOMING FIXTURES

20th & 21st March 2015

MEN'S & WOMEN'S Men's City League 2 VS. Taringa Rovers Friday 6:30PM

Men's City League 4 Blue VS. Toowong Friday 8:00pm

Men's City League 1 VS. Lions FC Friday 8:30pm Women's City League 1 VS. Eastern Suburbs Saturday 4:00PM Coach's Corner! with Rob Monteverde Welcome to start of a new season. City One, Two and Four have been training for the past 8 weeks. City Three for approximately 4 weeks (traditionally late starters).

Anyway, I wish luck to all of the City Teams, the Women’s Teams and Capital One and reserves Men’s teams, as we strive to maintain the excellence that is Annerley Football Club.

This year we welcome a big influx of new players from other clubs and overseas, which is good and was required as many of last year’s players have left for a multitude of reasons.

"We’re blue, We’re white... We’re DYNAMITE"

We all start our fixtures this week and hopefully our preparation will be enough to ensure we get a good start, but I do know that we will all improve on our performances this week as players get to know each other and understand the Annerley "Philosophy".

Rob Monteverde Men’s City League Co-ordinator & Men’s Vice President

Results... Last week the Senior Men lost 2 – 3 to Brisbane Knights. The Reserves game was abandoned after the lights went out due to an Energex fault.

PLAYER PROFILES I scored a goal once. There was some doubt over whether it had actually gone in. I asked the ref if it was a goal. He said “yes.” I said “good.” That was it.

"If I could just say a few words I'd be a better public speaker" Homer J Simpson.

Full name: Andrew Wood Nickname(s): Joey/Woodsy/ Hey you behind the bushes... Occupation: Dietetics Student/ Nurses Assistant Current Annerley team: City 1 Most embarrassing footballing moment: Trying to do my best Manuel Neuer sweeper keeper impression in a City league game a couple of years ago. I failed miserably, and I think it made Coach Rob cry. Pre-game rituals/superstitions: So many! Lucky jocks, lucky unwashed footy socks, really ugly lucky cap I stole from Gino.. Pre-game song: GMC FOSHO- IMDABES! Greatest footballing achievement: Going an entire 6-a-side season wearing old magazines for shin pads and totally getting away with it. If you were down to your last $20 what would you spend it on? Happens most weeks. 2 minute noodles and a bus ticket.

Full name: Donna Smith Nickname(s): I've been getting 'Don Don' a lot lately, probably because Purton's such a big fan of Law and Order. But, outside of football, I get called anything ranging from D to Donnasaurus rex. Occupation: Order selector for Coles Logistics Current Annerley team: BWPL Most embarrassing footballing moment: Last season for SEQ against Pride. Standing in front of goal. Ball at my feet, no one around me... and I just fell over. Pre-game rituals/superstitions: Make sure I've packed my boots. They're important. Worst Habit: Taking photos of my cat. It's unhealthy, but I'm okay with it. If you were down to your last $20 what would you spend it on? Ice Cream and Pizza
