some amazing weddings filled with unique ideas and stunning brides all

Candid Apple Photography, Krista Cook,

brought together by our talented vendors. With the wedding season winding down we welcome the beautiful colors and cooler temperatures of the fall season. This issue is full of lovely fall inspiration. Our stylized shoot "A Romantic Affair", is overflowing with romance and moody colors. As usual we had an amazing group for this shoot. They produced stunning florals, decor and an unreal cake. So thankful for everyones hard work, even as we moved furniture up the mountain in the freezing cold. Great work team! We have two unique real weddings featured and great tips on using Pinterest to help you plan your wedding. Be sure to check out our DIY from Mosaic Party & Event Design on how to make paper flowers, perfect for a backdrop or photo booth. There will be some changes coming in the new year, adore will be cutting back to publishing two issues a year. But don't worry those two will still be packed full of amazing tips, trends and inspiration. We will continue to feature real Okanagan couples in our "He Said-She Said" section and of course real Okanagan weddings. Thank you for all your contributions....keep them coming! live, love, adore

CHRISTINE & TYLER The day of Christine and Tyler's wedding was extremely exciting for them both. They started the day with the first look. It had a double meaning for them as it was not only the first time Tyler got to see Christine in her dress but it was also the first time the couple got to see the location of their photo shoot. They had left it up to their photographer Joel to choose the shoot location and were not disappointed. The BNA brewery was just what they had envisioned and the beautiful backdrop of the rustic and vintage location was the perfect choice and a perfect reflection of the theme of the wedding. From the photoshoot they moved to the ceremony at First United Church, where they were able to share their union with family and friends. With the gorgeous pipe organ in the background and Reverend Karen putting a personal touch on the ceremony, the day became even more special. Off to the Laurel Packing House for the reception. This location had special meaning for the couple because it was where Tyler had proposed to Christine. Everything about the reception was a perfect mix of the rustic, vintage and orchard theme of the day. The venue was gorgeous from the brick background to the wooden beams decorated with lights. It was absolutely the best setting for these two. Their photographer, Joel from Joelsview Photography had captured the beauty and simplicity of the building and was all over the place collecting memories of family and friends having a fantastic time. The day was everything and more than they ever imagined!

TIPS we ADORE

I don’t have a Pinterest wedding board

Wonderland acid trip of a wedding. But, I’m now approaching

anywhere on my Pinterest account –

300 Pins and I think I’ve got an idea of what I think my

not even listed as a private board - and

wedding would look like…I think.

for the life of me I can’t tell you why. I’m probably part of the 1% that doesn’t. It’s not that I’m not a romantic; I’d squeal and swoon at the thought of my PhD accredited soul mate to saunter into my life and sweep me off my feet while we gallop off together into the Mediterranean sunset – as any other girl would, naturally. But I think the real reason I don’t have a Pinterest board dedicated to my wedding is because I’m afraid of being unrealistic - go figure, right?

So far, my dream wedding looks a little like the following: I’m getting married in an outdoor ceremony, somewhere like a meadow or a forest or a winery, oooh maybe even a cathedral; I’m wearing an off-white, lace, body-hugging dress with a low, open back and delicate straps, maybe a sleeveless, with a short train; and I’d style my loosely curled hair in a half up/ half down look complete with maybe a tiara or an olive leafed circlet. I can’t decide if I want my bridesmaids to wear the same dress, or similar dresses of the same tone, or different dresses in all the same colour. I think I want a small ceremony, or maybe I want it to be a spectacle with lots of people. The music will be a mix of romantic and open-bar dance party, and I think the flowers will be lilies….scratch that, peonies.

So in the spirit of writing this article, I created a wedding board just to see what the fuss is all about. I now understand the fuss. I get it ladies – I really do. Pinterest is awesome yet undoubtedly terrifying. I‘d compare the anxiety I felt scrolling on Pinterest to the type of sensory overload that

So, to sum it all up – after 6 hours of pinning and 300 pins (I went overboard – I realize), I’ve got pretty close to nothing to show for it. No concrete decisions made, and a whole lot more decisions to make to resemble something even close to a semiplanned wedding. I can’t decide if Pinterest helped me plan my mock wedding, or raised more questions and indecision that would be ultimately detrimental to the dream occasion.

F IR ST ME E TI NG

Alex and I initially met through friends about a year before we started dating. We had gone our separate ways but then reconnected a couple months later when I gave her friend Megan my number to pass on.

I met Judah through mutual friends. My best friend Megan is a nurse and his friend Natalie was also a nurse, both involved in rugby with Judah. We all hung out one night and afterwards my friend Megan encouraged me to text him to hang out. The rest is history

F IR ST DATE

I took Alex out for sushi at Wasabi and after dinner we drove to a viewpoint, listened to music and talked.

Judah picked me up for our first date and took me to Wasabi, a Japanese restaurant downtown. After dinner we went and had some wine and listened to the Shins. It was a super relaxing, fun date.

I honestly don’t remember.

I don’t really remember when our "first kiss" was so one evening we acted out a fake first kiss on top of Knox Mountain but we waited for a shooting star first. It was pretty funny and super cheesy but I guess more memorable than our real first kiss.

FIR ST I LOVE YOU

Alex had said it to me a couple days before and I didn’t say it back immediately but after thinking about it I really realized that I did love her and I told her the next time we were together.

We were just hanging out at my house and I said I loved him.

Prior to the big day the topic of marriage had made its way into conversation and I had been grilled many times on when I was finally going to propose to her. She had made it clear that she didn't want to be "old" by the time she got married and I had to endure some not-so-subtle hints of photos and screen shots of engagement rings strategically left on my computer and phone. DIY with ADORE

STEPS You will need roughly 15-20 sheets of paper, depending on the size petals you create. The larger the petals, the larger the flower.

1. Draw petal shapes in 3 or 4 sizes. Perfection is not required. Keep it a simple shape.

2. Cut out 5-6 of each petal size, and a round base.

3. Cut a slit in bottom of each petal. 4. Add a small amount of glue and cross the flaps over slightly. This will give the petals some shape and make them stand up when attaching to flower.

5. Take a small stack of petals and roll the ends to create some shape.

6. Prepare all your petals. 7. Starting with the largest petals, glue each one to the outside edge of your round base. Overlap the petals as you go.

8. With the next petal size, complete a new layer inside the flower.

9.

Continue gluing new layers until all petal sizes are used

10.

To create a center for the flower, simply roll a small petal into a cone, trim bottom, and glue into the middle of the flower.

11. Final touch: Using your dowel, stick, or curling tool – roll and curl the edges to your liking.
