KAPPA PISCO

A Delicious White Spirit

T

he producers of the iconic brand, Grand Marnier, have introduced a new spirit, Kappa Pisco, from the Elqui Valley in Chile. Setting a new standard of luxury for the category, Kappa Pisco is the latest project of the Marnier Lapostolle family. As it is with Cognac, Chilean Pisco is a spirit made from the double distillation of wine. However, unlike Cognac which must be aged in oak, Kappa Pisco is an unaged variety that results in a delicious white spirit with excellent mixability.

The Elqui Valley, from where the grapes for Kappa Pisco are sourced, has sunshine every day, fresh water from the Andes Mountains and clear skies free of pollution. Above the Elqui Valley, within the Southern Cross Constellation, is the Kappa Crucis star cluster. Considered one of the most breathtaking sights in Southern Hemisphere, this is where Kappa derives its name. Although Kappa is available in many markets across the country, we suggest you try a truly satisfying drink found locally at Malio’s Steakhouse in Tampa, the “Kappa Rita”. It consists of 1 ½ oz KAPPA Pisco, ½ oz Grand Marnier, 1 oz Fresh Lemon, and ½ oz Agave Nectar. Ingredients are shaken and strained over fresh ice, and garnished with lemon.
