Sometimes, the trailer shows too much. When I saw the trailer for Neighbors. I had a feeling this movie was going to be funny because it showed a subject that some of us can relate to: a loud neighbor. The trailer showed just enough.

What if, a loud partying college fraternity moves right next to your home and you have a newborn. That could start a war and that is what happens in Neighbors. The casting in Neighbors is beyond great. First, you have Seth Rogen, who is funny to see and hear. Then, in a brilliant cast move, Rose Byrne as Rogen’s wife with a heavy Aussie accent and a potty mouth. Both make an unique couple as Mac and Kelly Radner. They have the modern couple situation with a newborn daughter, a nothing fancy car and a crushing house mortgage in a seemly great neighborhood. Next thing, a fraternity moves in right next door. The fraternity is led by Teddy played by Zac Efron. The first sign of trouble happens when the fraternity throws a party and Mac and Kelly can’t sleep. So, they go over to ask them to be quiet. The couple end up staying and partying with the fraternity all night.
“There's a lot of intensity when you're on a set. And then it just goes away and no one's giving you attention or flooding you with compliments.” Actress Rose Byrne, currently in the movie, Neighbors, playing in theaters now.

In the morning, Teddy asks the couple, if the house is too loud, call him, not the police. Next party, Mac tries to call Teddy to say the party is too loud. After getting no answer, Mac calls the police, thinking they will not know it was him who called because he didn’t leave his name. The police show up and confront Teddy and the fraternity. This makes Mac and Kelly relieved until the cop points at their house and saying they made the call. The war begins with the fraternity vs. Mac and Kelly. The pranks are funny as each side tries to outdo the other. There are some over the top crude moments. This is not a movie to take nine to sixteen year olds to. When, I saw Neighbors, there was a man who brought his young daughters to the movie. 30 Years for the African American Achievers Festival In Warren The 30th Annual African American Achievers Festival begins at noon Friday, June 6th on Courthouse Square in Warren with a ribbon cutting and continues on Saturday. The festival features rides, games, food, arts and crafts, voter registration and entertainment. There is no admission charge.

Brothers and Bones is Terrific Find By Monnie Ryan 4 1/2 stars out of 5 This book, named to Kirkus Review Best Books of 2013, is a winner in my book as well. And apparently I'm not alone; as I write this, it had earned a rather impressive average of 4.3 stars from 1,236 reviewers at Amazon.com and spent more than three months in the Top 100 in the Kindle Store - primary reasons I didn't hesitate when I had a chance recently to snag it for 99 cents through BookGorilla.com. The story begins as Charlie Beckham, a Boston federal prosecutor just starting as lead attorney on a case that should shoot him to the top of the career ladder, runs into a grungy homeless man who calls Charlie by a nickname known only by one other person - Charlie's much-older brother Jake, who turned up missing 13 years ago and is presumed dead (by everyone except Charlie, that is). Long obsessed with finding out what really happened to Jake (to the point of seeing a psychiatrist ever since the disappearance), Charlie goes off the deep end trying to find the homeless man - threatening his successful career and jeopardizing his relationship with his soon-to-be bride, Jessica, who happens to be the daughter of a powerful head federal prosecutor and Charlie's boss. But Charlie is certain the homeless man has important information about the missing Jake - it's even possible, Charlie reasons, that the guy is Jake in disguise. Of course, finding the man is far from easy, and the chase takes Charlie to seedy parts of the city and puts him directly in the crosshairs of some of the criminal underworld. Will Charley find the homeless man before either or both of them end up dead? And if he does, will he learn what really happened to Jake? Ah, I'll never tell - if you want to find out, you'll just have to read this one for yourself. I don't think you'll be sorry you did! Art has written and produced numerous Indie films, which have been shown at prestigious film festivals. In addition to teaching and writing/ producing A Byrd’s Eye View newsletter, Art also does freelance media work. He is based in Youngstown, Ohio.
Monnie Ryan retired in 2003 after 14 years as managing editor of The Business Journal in Youngstown, where she continues to contribute to the print and online editions.
