Department of Jails Punjab (DJP) has sought regular schedules from the session courts for execution of the death row convicts. Media reports said that the list sent by jail authorities also includes schedules of hardened prisoners awarded multiple death penalties. The report states that 7,164 out of 77,900 convicts dwelling in 88 Pakistani jails have been awarded the death sentence by various courts. In Punjab, 65 prisoners including 2 women are on death row, with most of these convicts confined to Rawalpindi jail. QUETTA: One suspect was killed and another two were arrested in a targeted operation launched in Dasht area of Mastung district on Wednesday. Official sources said the Anti-Terrorist Force (ATF) along with other law enforcement agencies, carried out a targeted operation in Dasht following a tip-off, in which an exchange of fire took place between the law enforcement personnel and the armed men that left one suspect dead while two were arrested. The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday directed the additional attorney general (AAG) in NICL case to set the priorities first as how to run matters related to recoveries, land and appointment. A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry, took up the NICL case for hearing.
