SENSE AND SENSIBILITY Brushed, hand-scraped, bevelled, silky smooth or matt. Each Kährs plank is unique and individually treated, according to its own unique composition of knots and graining. When Kährs launched Woodloc ® in 2000 – the first glue-free joint system in the world – it revolutionized the wood flooring industry. This ingenious joint system locks the boards together mechanically, creating a completely gap-free floor.
BEAUTY WITH A CONSCIENCE A multi-layer hardwood floor is the most environmentally friendly floor you can choose. It optimizes the use of raw material, is made from sustainable wood and is recyclable. At our plant in Nybro, nothing goes to waste. The parts of the log that we cannot use become biofuel. Some 45,000 people in our neighbourhood have their homes heated by recycled wood from Kährs.

KÄHRS DESIGN GUIDE Kährs offers five types of surface treatment: satin lacquer, matt lacquer, ultra-matt lacquer, oil and high gloss lacquer. No matter which one you choose, your floor will be ready to walk on as soon as it is installed. All Kährs surface treatments are solvent-free. In 1984, we were the first flooring manufacturer to implement an entirely solvent-free production process.
SATIN LACQUER Lacquered floors are easy to maintain. Our satin lacquer complements the wood’s character by accentuating its natural structure. It also makes the floor more hardwearing and easier to clean. Despite its strength, Kährs’ lacquer coating is exceptionally thin and, unlike many other lacquers, does not conceal the structure of the wood. In addition, with Kährs satin lacquer there’s no artificial shine.
BRUSHING Brushing the surface highlights the natural structure of the grain and emphasizes the texture of the wood. Brushing effects vary, depending on the wood species. Brushes are made from different materials in varying degrees of hardness, and brushing is often carried out along with other refining treatments such as staining and bevelling of edges.

MATT LACQUER Kährs matt lacquer is as hardwearing and easy to maintain as our satin lacquer. The subtle finish produces an untreated, bare wood look.
STAINING Staining further enhances the wood’s natural colour tones. It also allows us to apply new colours, thus completely transforming the appearance of the wood. Kährs offers a wide range of stained options – from the palest white, to rich charcoal shades.
LTRA-MATT U LACQUER Wood treated with our ultra-matt lacquer feels and looks as if it was made from untreated, newly sawn timber, but has a strong, yet silky and invisible shield against wear and tear. It creates a surface that effectively absorbs the light – enhancing both the colour and feeling of the floor.
SMOKED This special process alters the colour and shade of each plank. There are two grades of smoked finish: light and the darker fully smoked.

H IGH GLOSS LACQUER
Oil brings out the fine structure and grain of the wood and enhances its natural colour. Floors treated with oil are easy to clean and maintain, but they need a little more care and should be oiled regularly.
The high gloss lacquer gives your floor a shiny, polished look that enhances the beauty of the wood species you’ve chosen. It also protects your floor from everyday wear and tear.

HANDSCRAPING
A bevelled edge feature on a 1-strip floor gives a very distinct look. Kährs offers a number of floors with a bevelled edge finish in varying degrees, from “microbevelling” – tiny clarification and reinforcement of the edges created using sandpaper – to more prominent bevelling on both the long and the short sides, for a rustic, robust appearance.
By using different tools for manual wood scraping and sanding, we can give a new wood floor a worn appearance. A great amount of handwork goes into each floor to achieve its rustic character.

Made from regular timber grade, planks are uniform, with small variations in grain and tone.
These floors are characterized by subtle variations in colour, tone and pattern and are knot-free.
Featuring dramatic graining, gnarls and knots, these floors boast greater colour variations and have a more lively, rustic character. The country selection also includes floors with a very rustic look with cracks and knots.

CHEVRON PATTERN
The surface layer of every 1-strip board is sawn from a single piece of wood. The natural appearance of the wood, including knots, colour variations and grain, is reflected in this. However, for some of our 1-strip floor collections, we have selected wood that offers little variation in colour and a minimum of knots. Kährs 1-strip flooring is available in several different lengths and widths.
The surface layer is two strips’ wide. The strips are selected and arranged to give each 2-strip floor its own unique character. Kährs’ 2-strip flooring is available in two options: long strips and short strips.
The surface layer of 3-strip flooring is created by placing three strips of wood of different lengths widthways and in a random order. At Kährs, we produce 3-strip flooring configurations in a way that enhances the lively expression, but we also create compositions that evoke a calmer feel.
