By Gary Owen Saturday night in a small Welsh town. Testosterone, booze and drug-fuelled messiness. Standard. The lives of a school bully turned territorial hard man, a geek yearning to escape and a would-be karaoke king play out in a tale of lust, violence, revenge and the quest for the perfect girl. A razor sharp portrait of masculinity in crisis, Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco is by turns desolate and life-affirming, heart-breaking and hilarious, everyday and remarkable. Written by awardwinning writer Gary Owen. “Owen writes like an angel with a foul mouth...” The Guardian www.wakingexploits.co.uk Yn bortread miniog o wrywdod mewn argyfwng, mae’r darn hwn ar yr un pryd yn ddigalon ac yn obeithiol, yn dorcalonnus ac yn hwyliog, yn gyffredin ac yn eithriadol. Wedi’i ysgrifennu gan yr awdur talentog Gary Owen.

Nick Bartlett and Josephine LloydWelcome are the two older lovers thrown together to tear each other apart with the excesses of their own, younger selves.

Diwedd yr 80au yn Nyffryn Aman. Mae’r byd yn newid i Llew, cyn löwr a chyn focsiwr. Nid dwylo garw’r dynion sy‘n cynnal teuluoedd bellach, ond bysedd diwyd y gwragedd. Os yw gorwelion Llew yn culhau, mae gorwelion Sara ei wraig a Lowri ei ferch yn lledaenu i gyfeiriadau annisgwyl. A gyda’r holl newidiadau mae seiliau’r aelwyd yn simsanu.

With minimalist staging and taut, unfussy direction by Alastair Cording plus Ric Lloyd’s atmospheric music: if you take your theatre strong and black with no sugar, go.

Drama newydd heriol am bobol a’u brwydrau mewn cyfnod o newid ysgytwol yn hanes diweddar Cymru. Y cast: Rhys Parry Jones, Eiry Thomas, Gwawr Loader, Sion Ifan. Cyfarwyddwr: Betsan Llwyd.

Cyfle prin i weld campwaith theatr sinistr a thanseiliol gan ddramodydd Almaenaidd sydd ag enw arbennig yn theatr Almaenaidd yr 20fed ganrif.

Addas i rai dros l 14 oed. The Aman Valley at the end of the 80s. The world of Llew, an exminer and ex-boxer, is changing. A challenging new play about people and their personal battles in a time of great change in Wales.

Bedroom Farce Directed by Richard Tunley Funny, gripping and acutely observed, Alan Ayckbourn’s sophisticated ‘70s comedy lifts the lid on the secrets of marriage. Over the course of one night, an outrageously selfish couple parade their problems around the bedrooms of three other couples, exposing the cracks in other people’s marriages as well as their own. The Temple is a claustrophobic and atmospheric adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s undersea tale of possession and madness, devised and performed by actor Michael Sabbaton. It is 1917. When a strange carved ivory head comes into the possession of the commander of the U-29, the boat becomes cursed as it is drawn into a spiralling descent of dissention and madness. The last survivor, the Captain, surrounded by his dead crew, is gradually taken over by fear and paranoia as the horrors on the boat, and the horrors outside it, await... A chilling tale presented as part of the Abertoir Horror Festival.

Lady Windermere’s Fan By Oscar Wilde A biting satire on the morals of Victorian society. Lady Windermere discovers that her husband may be having an affair with another woman. She confronts her husband but he instead invites the other woman, Mrs. Erlynne, to her birthday ball. Angered by her husband's unfaithfulness, Lady Windermere leaves her husband for another lover. After discovering what has transpired, Mrs. Erlynne follows Lady Windermere and attempts to persuade her to return to her husband and in the course of this, Mrs. Erlynne is discovered in a compromising position. She sacrifices herself and her reputation in order to save Lady Windermere's marriage.

The Future for Beginners Matthew and Jenny share a dream of growing old together – to be the type of couple who can say everything with just a look. They plan every day of the rest of their lives in great detail, to future proof their future. But there’s a problem, a schism, that could bring their world tumbling down around them. A touching, funny and musical journey. Mae Matthew a Jenny yn breuddwydio am dyfu’n hen gyda‘i gilydd. Ond mae yna broblem, sgism, y gallai chwalu’r byd o’u cwmpas. A co-production with Wales Millennium Centre.

A duet by Karen Christopher & Sophie Grodin. Control Signal explores invisible influences and the inexplicable connections we feel but fail to acknowledge. It explores our irresistible urge to impose our will upon our immediate surroundings; upon nature. Following lines of electricity through the body, through the air, and through history this show looks at the long and the short distances electricity travels and how humans have used it as a measure of control: a body becomes something else, a plume of smoke rises, an elephant is made to perform. www.haranczaknavarre.co.uk Sioe sy’n archwilio’r dylanwadau anweladwy a’r cysylltiadau anesboniadwy a deimlir gennym ond nad ydym yn eu cydnabod.

A Child's Christmas in Wales Adapted from the short story by Dylan Thomas by Michael Bogdanov with music and lyrics by Jack Herrick. Dylan Thomas' childhood memory has become a firm favourite for generations of children in and beyond Wales. This adaptation, the climax of a year-long celebration of his life and works, is a new and evocative picture of Dylan’s early years, drawing on many of his short stories and broadcasts to create a childhood wonderland of snowbound memory. Conceived for a cast of 10 actor/musicians the production captures the wonder of a Christmas time of almost a century ago as seen through a child’s eyes as the older Dylan looks back at his six year old self and asks ‘Did it really snow

for twelve days and twelve nights?’ “This is Welsh culture at its best.” Hannah Ellis Thomas, Dylan’s Granddaughter Addasiad o waith poblogaidd Dylan Thomas sy’n portreadu’n wych ei ddelweddaeth anhygoel, ei hiwmor, ei ddyngarwch a’i allu arbennig i ddisgrifio ymddygiad dynol. The Chimes

Everything rests on this one free throw. On this one last shot. On these last few seconds. Action Hero have got their game faces on.

By Matthew Bulgo. Directed by Kate Wasserberg. Starring Sion Pritchard as Tom.

Internationally renowned DV8 Physical Theatre bring their powerful new production to the National Theatre. JOHN authentically depicts real-life stories, combining movement and spoken word to create an intense and moving theatrical experience.

The Chimes (1844) is the second in Dickens's series of Christmas books, with as powerful a punch now as it had in his time. In the run-up to the festive season, local porter, Trotty Veck falls asleep in the doorway of a church. Woken by the bells, and magically dragged up the tower, he has just one chance to change this world... But will he listen to the bells?

With a nostalgic yearning for the simplicity of a world that never really existed, Hoke’s Bluff uses the hackneyed formulas of high school storylines and the cheap sentimentality of inspiring locker room speeches to find out what it means to be a winner (on the inside). “A very clever piece of theatre; a cracking night out” Total Theatre Darn clyfar iawn o theatr yn seiliedig ar y syniad o beth y mae’n golygu i fod yn enillydd (ar y tu fewn). The king of improvisational comedy, Ross’ on-stage presence is like no other, using his infinite imagination and plenty of tomfoolery, he is sure to have audiences in fits of laughter.

Winner of five major comedy awards. 24-hour-show luminary. Novelist. Watson (host of BBC's We Need Answers, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week regular and star of cult Radio 4 series Mark Watson Makes The World Substantially Better) returns to the road.

As one of the most successful cult comedians, Ross has established himself as a household name. He has undertaken 14 sell out tours, 7 top selling stand-up DVD releases, and ranked 11th in Channel 4’s poll of the 100 Greatest Stand-Ups (2010). Ross has appeared on Have I Got News for You (BBC One), The Graham Norton Show (BBC One) and QI (BBC One). Internationally, he has performed as far afield as Singapore, Hong Kong, Montreal and Budapest.

One evening, Emily Brown and her old grey rabbit Stanley hear a Thing crying outside their window. He just can’t get to sleep. Emily and Stanley set off on incredible adventures to the Dark and Scary Wood, the Whirling Wastes and beyond, to find the Thing’s cuddly, his bedtime milk and his medicine… But nothing seems to help him settle. What’s really troubling the Thing – and will anyone ever get to sleep? Find out in this magical, musical show for everyone aged 3 and up. Defined by atmospheric imagery and haunting interiors, The Fall of the House of Usher is considered a pioneering silent horror masterpiece, and Epstein’s best known work. Charlie Barber's new score has been composed for an ensemble of sixteen musicians, taking as its starting point Debussy's uncompleted opera La Chute de la Maison Usher, and adds further depth to the atmosphere of this cinematic tour de force. Yn cyfuno elfennau o nifer o straeon Edgar Allan Poe, cyflwynir clasur sinema fud Jean Epstein ochr yn ochr â pherfformiadau byw o sgôr newydd ar gyfer cerddorfa siambr gan y cyfansoddwr Charlie Barber.

Director: Michael McCarthy Conductor: Michael Rafferty Kafka’s nightmarish tale of a man arrested and prosecuted for an unknown crime by a relentless and inaccessible authority. Now, Philip Glass brings his signature music and dramatic force to this literary classic. Working with Christopher Hampton as librettist, this new opera will wring every nuance of tension and paranoia from the story as Josef K seeks to confront the system that is set on destroying him. Glass and Kafka share an infectious sense of humour and the ability to delight in the absurd. Sung in English. Daw Philip Glass â’i gerddoriaeth unigryw a’i grym dramatig i’r clasur llenyddol hwn. Ac er bod y darn yn dywyll ac yn llawn densiwn, ceir hefyd elfen gref o hiwmor a’r gallu i ymbleseru yn yr hyn sy’n wirion. Cenir yn Saesneg. A co-commission and co-production between Music Theatre Wales, the Royal Opera House, Theater Magdeburg and Scottish Opera.

John Bird started the publishing phenomenon The Big Issue Magazine. John’s story flows into unexpected territory, which adds excitement to this loosely planned adventure. Along the way you learn how John came from abject poverty to become a revolutionary who can influence Prime Ministers and Popstars for and on behalf of the poor. This show is rock'n'roll, achingly funny and powerfully inspiring, but never worthy. A personal story that will keep you hanging on his every word and makes you want to ‘rush out and start making changes in your own life’. Noson yng nghwmni sefydlwr y cylchgrawn Big Issue. Cyflwynir stori bersonol hynod diddorol a gafaelgar a fydd yn eich annog i ruthro allan a dechrau gwneud newidiadiau yn eich bywyd eich hun.

EXHIBITIONS ARDDANGOSFEYDD GALLERY 1 ORIEL 1 3 December - 16 January / 3 Rhagfyr - 16 Ionawr

Tim Shaw

A Journey from Devil’s Bridge / Y Daith o Bontarfynach Mary Lloyd Jones Mary Lloyd Jones’ work is inspired by the Welsh landscape and the marks people make on it; she is known for her use of rich vibrant colour and for her use of unstretched canvas in some works.

Ysbrydolir gwaith Mary Lloyd Jones gan y dirwedd Gymreig a’r marciau a wneir arni gan ddynion; mae hi’n adnabyddus am ei defnydd o liw bywiog cyfoethog a’i defnydd o gynfasau anestynedig mewn rhai o’i darnau.

“My aim is that my work should reflect my relationship with the land, an awareness of history, and the treasures of our literary and oral traditions. I search for devices that will enable me to create multilayered images. This has led to my involvement with the beginnings of language, early man-made marks and the Ogham and Bardic alphabets.”

“Fy mwriad yw bod fy ngwaith yn adlewyrchu fy mherthynas gyda’r tir, ymwybyddiaeth o hanes, a thrysorau ein traddodiadau llenyddol a llafar. ‘Rwy’n chwilio am ddyfeisiadau a fydd yn fy ngalluogi i greu delweddau aml-haenog. Mae hyn wedi f’arwain at ddiddordeb mewn dechreuadau iaith, marciau cynnar a wnaethpwyd gan ddyn a’r gwyddorau Ogham a Barddol.”

The exhibition includes a section of early works whose engagement with landscape, colour and language mark the start of her artistic journey. Aberystwyth Arts Centre

Mae’r arddangosfa yn cynnwys nifer o ddarnau cynnar yn seiliedig ar dirwedd, lliw ac iaith, sy’n dynodi cychwyn ei thaith artistig.

Black Smoke Rising – Tim Shaw R.A.

Curated by Indra Khanna and produced in partnership with mac Birmingham and Aberystwyth Arts Centre

Mae ‘Black Smoke Rising’ yn arddangosfa eithriadol o b ˆ werus gan y cerflunydd Tim Shaw RA. Ysbrydolir y darn canolog ‘Casting a Dark Democracy’ gan y ddelwedd o ddyn mewn cwcwll yn cael ei arteithio yn Abu Ghraib, a welwyd am y tro cyntaf 10 mlynedd yn ôl. Mae’r ddelwedd greulon hon yn parhau i fod yn un sy’n tynnu ar yr emosiynau ac mae’r arddangosfa yn sôn am wrthdaro dynol ar hyd yr oesodd.

First language dyes & acrylic on cloth 1983-2009

Black Smoke Rising is an extraordinarily powerful exhibition by sculptor Tim Shaw RA. The centrepiece ‘Casting a Dark Democracy’ is inspired by the image of a hooded man being tortured in Abu Ghraib, first seen 10 years ago. This image of inhumanity remains very potent, stirring primitive fears; the exhibition speaks of human conflict through the ages.

‘There is an attempt to understand the nature of who we are through a process of reduction, a stripping down of the human condition to its primordial bare bones. I am interested in aspects of humanity that do not change.’ Part of the Reflections of War Season. Free Artist's Talk with Tim Shaw & Indra Khanna: Fri 3 Oct, 6.30pm Free, all welcome 38 .
