2011 Highlights Expanding the scope of service beyond new construction, we implemented Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI), a home repair program that helps low-income homeowners make much-needed repairs to their homes. The use of volunteers and 0% interest financing helps make the work affordable. Like the homeownership program, families qualify based on need, willingness to partner, and ability to pay.
We completed the
22 home Woodland Court subdivision and transitioned to Carney Place in West Ashevillle. A few months later, we began building in the Shiloh community in South Asheville, creating two active construction sites.

The ReStore held a Grand
ReOpening celebration with a sale in September to mark the completion of a renovation that added 13,000 square feet of retail space and more than 100 parking spaces. Mayor Terry Bellamy and Larry Gluth, VP Habitat for Humanity International, joined us for the festivities. ReStore proceeds support our building programs and cover administrative and fundraising costs.

Presbyterian & Methodist churches sponsored houses for the 20th year; Crossroads Assembly fully sponsored 2 houses; and the Rosemma & Woody Coppess Memorial House was built to honor these two long-time volunteers. It was built with funds from their legacy gift.
Thanks to our volunteers and donors we built 13 new houses and repaired 8 existing homes; serving 21 Buncombe County families in need of safe and decent housing.
