• Joanna E. Burdette has received a four-year $720,000 grant from the American Cancer Society of Illinois for her research, which focuses on epithelial cells, or surface and lining cells, in this case, of the female reproductive system. • Seungpyo Hong is a 2012 recipient of the $25,000 New Investigator Grant Award in Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technologies from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.

Dowling received $1.6 million from Mylan Pharmaceuticals for “Single Dose Fed Bioequivalence Study of Bosentan Tables in Healthy Volunteers.” • Joga Gobburu received $40,000 from Biogen Idec, Inc. for a translational research fellowship. • Steve Hoag received $16,000 from FMC Corporation for “Spray Coating of Aquacoat ECD: The Applications of QBD Principles,” and $142,923 from U.S. Pharmacopeia for “Development of a Spectral Database for Excipients, Drug Substances and Drug Products.” • Maureen A. Kane received $28,750 from the Ragon Institute for “Role of Retinoic Acide in HIV Intestinal Mucosal Immunity.”
