January to May Events Guide Welcome to our first Events Guide of 2013, when we’ll be bringing you an exciting mix of comedy from some of the finest national and upcoming stars, welcome back the Now We Are music festival, and see the return of ever popular community events St Patrick’s Day and the Mayor’s Show.

Lucy Porter - People Person Wednesday 17 April 2013, Begins 8pm, £12 advance, £14 on the door Lucy Porter’s brand new show is based around a fascinating true story with a stunning twist in the tale. Along the way, the thirty-something mum of ‘Irish twins’ (not Jedward thankfully) brings us her hilarious stand up observations. She tackles the big subjects; happiness, home shopping, friendship and the psychological impact of daytime TV’s Dom Littlewood. It’s a feel-good night of comedy that will appeal to audiences of all ages.

Robin Ince The Importance of Being Interested Saturday 18 May 2013, Begins 8pm, £12 advance, £14 on the door Award winning comedian and science enthusiast Robin Ince follows up his Happiness Through Science show with a look at his favourite scientists – Charles Darwin and Richard Feynman. Find out why we have eyebrows, why bald dogs have bad teeth, how heavy metal music makes pigs deaf and why spaghetti snaps into four pieces. This year they’re putting on Aladdin, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Cinderella and The Wizard of Oz. Everything is going well until someone drops all the scripts and mixes them up… Find out what happens next with this all singing, all dancing pantomime!

The Mayor of Sandwell brings together a great line up of local talent to help raise money for his chosen charities, Help the Heroes and Different Strokes (a local charity supporting younger Stroke survivors)

An opportunity to find out more about the range of courses, training programmes and apprenticeships available to Sandwell young people aged 15-19. Three lucky winners will also have the chance to win an Apple ipad!

Art Fun Run your own workshop! Have you got a great idea for a kids workshop which is both engaging and packed full of creative fun? We’re offering local artists and crafts people the opportunity to run their own familyfriendly workshop during the Easter and Summer holiday periods in 2013. There will be no fee from us BUT we will give you the space for free and you will be able to charge for your workshop, keeping the ticket income.
