Each participant is also encouraged to get medical clearance from a doctor before starting the program. Instructor: Anthony Bryant. Eight week program.

Beginners and intermediates benefit in flexibility, posture and balance. Wear loose, comfortable clothes and enjoy the many benefits of yoga. Eight week program except for Thursday classes beginning in January, which are seven weeks. Instructor: Trudi Mardian. Ages

New! Taiko drumming has often been compared to martial arts for drums and is considered one of the highest forms of music culture from Japan. You might compare it to the drum line concept we know in our country - yet it is very successful for people who have never played percussion before or even had any musical training. Fee is $45 for individual, $60 for couple or 2 family members.

Research shows that early childhood is an ideal time, a ‘window of opportunity,’ for children to begin the process of learning a second language. This class uses the best strategies for optimizing your child’s linguistic abilities using Spanish sounds, words, phrases with songs, chants, movement and instruments. These classes are in a 2 part series: 1st part begins in January and the 2nd part begins in March. Instructor Mercedes Hardy is certified in Early Education and Spanish.

New! Looking for a great way to shave a few seconds off your time? Check out this speed work class held at Green Ridge Recreation Center. This is also a great class for runners training for the Blue Ridge Marathon or Half Marathon; speed work fits right in with a training schedule for the April 24th races. Take advantage of being able to get your miles on a forgiving indoor track. The 1/8 of a mile track will be good training space to run your intervals and track your progress. Instructor: Mike Roth, Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Lieutenant.
