PROGRAMME

YOUR ONE NIGHT FESTIVAL OF ARTS & CULTURE IN LIVERPOOL 1

2

A LONG NIGHT TO REMEMBER PLANNING YOUR NIGHT On Thursday 18th November from 4pm, over 50 of Liverpool’s creative venues stay open late for Long Night. It’s a chance to meet up with family and friends to explore the rich patchwork of cultural events that Liverpool has to offer, all in one night.

Long Night takes place across Liverpool city centre, which is compact and easy to get around. We’ve included a handy map, timetable and a free hop on hop off bus courtesy of Hurricane Films and Stagecoach (see page 14).

A vibrant mix of exhibitions, performance, tours, walks and much more. There’s over 100 events and activities to entertain visitors of all interests and ages. Long Night marks the final ten days of the Liverpool Biennial (our city’s very own international art festival) and the launch of DaDaFest (the UK’s largest festival of Disability and Deaf Arts). It’s also your first chance to enjoy the weird and wonderful wintry attractions in the city centre, with the start of late night shopping in the lead up to Christmas.

Most of the events are free, and to make things easier on your pocket there are special offers for Long Night diners (and even more offers if you have an 08 Card!) so there’s every reason to make a night of it.

CULTURE IS NOT JUST FOR LONG NIGHT Unless you’re a superhero you probably won’t make it to absolutely everything. Long Night is possible because of a huge collective effort of countless individuals and organisations; our wish is to inspire you to enjoy the wonderful range of world-class arts events happening in Liverpool every day of the year.

Most of our events are free and we’ve marked them:

Please note, information in this programme is correct at time of going to print, but details may change. If there is something you simply can’t miss please check with the venue to avoid disappointment. Liverpool hosts two late night cultural festivals a year, in winter it’s Long Night and in spring it’s Light Night. The next late night date for your diary is Light Night on Friday 13th May 2011. To ensure you don’t miss out on what events are coming up, sign up for Culture Liverpool’s fortnightly eblast – email events@liverpool.gov.uk

Although most events are open to children and families we have marked ones particularly suitable for children and families as:

For some events (including some of the free ones) you need to book tickets in advance. We’ve marked these events:
