INSPIRING PEOPLE TO TAKE POSITIVE ACTION IN CARING ABOUT THE PLANET WASHINGTON, DC – “My Planet and Me” project is rolling out in 30 countries in Central and SouthEast Europe and Central Asia, inspiring people to take positive action in caring about the environment. The project is a part of Earth Day Network’s effort to collect one billion Acts of environmental service before the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development, aka Rio+20. To date, over 80 million Acts have been recorded. “As we reach our lofty goal of collecting a billion Acts of Green worldwide, great projects like My Planet and Me are critical to amplifying the voice of the movement,” said Kathleen Rogers, President of Earth Day Network. Rogers added that this year’s campaign aims to spur government leaders in Rio to action by showing them how strongly the world’s citizens care about sustainability. #### About Earth Day Network Earth Day Network’s mission is to broaden, diversify and mobilize the environmental movement, driving action year-round. Earth Day Network does this through advocacy, education, public policy, and consumer campaigns. Please share your “Act of Green” to help EDN achieve its goal of “A Billion Acts of Green” by the 2012 U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development (aka “Rio+20).
